Since 2005, Army have started 15, 16, 16, 14, 13, 15, 13, 15, 14, 13, 14, 11, and 12 white starters. In 2018 they project to drop to 10 white starters. After winning bowls in 2016 (Heart of Dallas Bowl vs North Texas) and 2017 (Armed Forces Bowl vs San Diego State), this drop is disappointing but of course they’re still a lot better to watch than most teams, with a lot of depth.

RB/FB Andy Davidson is a senior now but still doesn’t get the chance to start – the starting FB listed ahead of him is 5’9 235lbs, 5 inches shorter than Davidson. Davidson had 116 caries for 627 yards and 5 TDs in 2017, down from 190/961/12 in 2016 despite increasing his yards/carry. Despite being listed as the #2 FB, Army run the ball so much he'll surely get a similar amount of carries as if he was the #1 at another college. A fair few other RBs on the roster: SR Calen Holt, SO Dominic Distefano, SO Zack Boobas, JR Connor Slomka, FR Landry Songer, and FR David Woodward.

Camden Harrison will start at WR (basically an outside blocker), with Chris Gregg backing him up – I’m sure both of these guys would’ve done better at a team who actually throws the football on occasion. Few FR WRs in Sean Eckert, Cole Caterbone and Daniel Zuloaga joining the roster this year.

Only the three starters on defense, down from six in 2017, but there are six back-ups. Only one 2017 starter returns in James Nachtigal, with the other five leaving the program, two replaced by white linebackers – three of the back-up LBs are also white. FR ILB Cade Barnard, John Bailey Gullatt, Hayden Bollinger, and Cameron Hoelscher have hopefully given Army a very good (and white) ILB corps over the next half decade.
