I wanted to start a new thread for my favorite female sprinter. She is 20 years of age and from
Germany. She has burst onto the scene this year running a 11.01 with no wind at the German
National Champs and following it up with a wind legal 10.95 in the opening round at the
2017 World Champs. She is so beautiful and will be one to watch over the next decade. She has
enough talent to win many medals. Here is her youtube channel. Love watching her videos.

Today Gina ran at the ISTAF in Berlin. She was beaten by Lisa Mayer (11,14 / 11,16 , -0,2 m/sec).

she really is hit or miss but so much fun to watch with absolutely loads of speed to unleash over the next 2-3 years.

Don't read too much into todays race. She like most of the sprinters in not in top form anymore. No need to be this late in the year. She will go sub 11 many times. I guarantee it and she should have a great career for a very long time since she is only 21 years of age. She has the potential to be one of the best female german sprinters ever. She will get even faster in the next few years.

Ginas Reactiontime (ISTAF) was 0,216 sec. That's always her problem.
Great race of Lisa Mayer. If she stays healthy, she also can run under 11 sec.

Gina Luckenkemper won the German Female Track Athlete of the Year. Very well deserved. This includes a video of her
gold medal winning performance in the 100 meters Finals at the 2022 European Outdoor Track & Field Championships!

even though the times were 10.99/10.99/11.00 that was a helluva race.....the railcam shot showed Lukenkempers fierce fire I never quit attitude!..... Asher smith quit in the race it was not an injury she wasnt going to win and she knew it.....so she quit.

"she just quit the race" ...
I was up all night in 1984 to watch and tape the Olympic 100m semis and final and saw Alan Wells do just that as Lewis blew past him.
I was so disappointed - and the winning time was only a 10.14 by Lewis.
Looking back, they both ran 1st round heat in 10.32, but in the quarter finals Lewis threw down a 10.04 while Wells struggled a 10.33 as Ray Stewart of Jamaica squeezed past him late.
I reckon at that point Wells was psychologically deflated and couldn't prepare his head space for a confrontation with Lewis in 10.04 form. Wells was 32 by then, old for a sprinter and he'd had his share of injuries and interrupted training. He lost confidence.

Wells had the best start but seemed to show no drive at all and finished in 10.71 when he could have run a 10.40 for second place.

Action starts after 1.30
