Best highlight I could find.

My 2 cents: like so often, the loser disregarded fundamentals. He had is hands low almost throughout. He tried to avoid most punches with head movement and footwork. Just like his loss to Diaz. In my (limited) boxing experience, you by definition cannot dodge faster than the opponent can punch, you certainly cannot dodge everything. There are times when you must block. Its very popular/ fashionable to try and avoid all shots with low hands like Ali / RJJ, but eventually some will land. If you are gassed, this is doubly true.

Im 6 ft 5 and when i spar against shorter pressure fighters, sometimes i just have to simplify and block. I cant dodge and run forever. So I dont. Simplify. Cover up and counter sometimes. If you try to foresee all punches and dodge them (like counting cards in blackjack), you will eventually miscalculate and get caught (unless youre a rain man ;) ).

I realise I sound like a broken record. But to quote my favorite boxer Tommy Morrison "fundamentals will take you a long way".

In retrospect, a decent fight and Im glad the whole "looks at me I be dayum rich" promo garbage is over.

Mayweather turned his back on McGregor when McGregor had the initiative. The referee should have done something about it but apparently he didn't. This affected the fight.

In the end, I have to say I respect the fact that Mayweather, at age forty, could defeat a young, bigger, stronger man.

Having said that, he fought McGregor in a very limited fight wherein he (Mayweather) could use all his own repertoire of weaponry, whereas Connor could only use a fraction of his own. Furthermore, Mayweather has been fighting his fight for over two decades, whereas McGregor had to learn on the job.

Basically, the fight ended in a very predictable way—the same way many people had called it, weeks and months before.

And yet, Floyd should have put Connor away faster.

The fact that Floyd could not destroy Connor until very late in the bout, and even then in a questionable way (why stop the fight when Connor didn't even get decked once?) says that Connor is a lot better than many of his detractors give him credit for.

And, the fact that a lean, ripped killing machine like Connor couldn't walk right over Floyd, despite Floyd being forty, says a lot about Floyd's skill as well (though, as already mentioned, he was fighting a fight that was stacked all in his own favor).

In the end, the results of this fight should surprise no one, other than Connor lasted A LOT longer than he should have against supposedly the greatest boxer of the generation.

The only thing that really detracts from Connor's achievement is all the trash he talked. It's a bit hard to come back from all that, after he called Floyd all those names. I'm sure those millions of dollars help.

I didn't find the referee extremely awful. It seems to me like McGgregor didn't have the power to hurt Mayweather. You can see that after a few rounds Mayweather was going forward closing the distance and putting pressure on Conor. I'm not buying into the hype of McGregor anymore, glad also that this whole circus is over.

Conor did do everything the "experts" said he couldn't. He just gassed like the first Diaz fight - seems to be his achilles heel. He did hurt Floyd with a body shot early in the 9th round and right on cue the ref came to Mayweather's aid and stopped the fighting to give Conor a long warning about who knows what - that was critical as it gave Mayweather an extra 15 seconds to recover. Had he been allowed to quickly follow up the body shot he may have finished Floyd. The fight wasn't fast-paced enough for any boxer to gas like Conor did - that was disappointing but not completely surprising. I had Conor winning 5 rounds - just too bad he gassed. But as we can now see it isn't crazy to think a good punching MMA fighter has the ability to box with the best of boxers.

I'm no Conor fan. I'm definitely no Mayweather fan. Those aside, I thought that McGregor looked great against an old, she'll of himself Mayweather. Don't read too much into that. Mayweather has the muscle memory still, and while the reflexes aren't what they once were; he is still far better a boxer than Conor. That takes nothing away from McGregor who looked better than Berto in there with him. I still say his gas tank can't handle Frankie Edgar, but outside of that, Mystic Mac is the real deal.

Conor showed me a lot more than I expected. Too bad he got tired at the end. I had him winning going into the 10th round. He and Floyd are rich men.

I don't know if any of you even noticed it but right before the fight, on the watchamacallit where I watched it, the communist SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) ran a commercial about "love and hate", words which, like "gay", have now been co opted into the Newspeak Neo-Bolshevik language. The first word only applies to white people - like you must love love everyone who is out to destroy you and everything you hold dear; the second to everyone who is not White - feel free to Hate whitey, aka "white supremacists, nazis" etc. etc. The communist MSM frequently uses the communist SPLC as a news source.

Being talked down to and browbeaten by a bunch of know-nothing celebrities that are more ignorant and have way less common sense than the average American only creates a viscerally negative reaction. They didn't learn their lesson from the election it seems.

It's been a down year for White star fighters thus far. Kov, Wlad and now Conor(I know he was coming into Mayweather's comfort zone, but now the world knows he lost on a TKO to a black man). Hope that GGG restores order, even tho I like him and Canelo. That should be a real off the charts fight.

I thought McGregor fought very well, considering his total lack of experience in boxing.

I'm surprised that the referee didn't give McGregor a standing 8 count, rather than calling an end to the bout suddenly in the 10th round.

Anyway, it's over with and we can look foward to the Golovkin fight with Alvarez.

The same sh*t was done to Kovalev against Ward in their 2nd fight. But in that fight Meeks the same ref in the last night's fight, allowed Ward to hit Kov with low blows non stop. No warning, no points. Just KO loss for Kovalev. Kovalev should still be kicking himself. If he would have fought in Russia with judges, not on the take, he would still be World Light Heavyweight Champion. What a disaster 2017 has been for our marquee fighters. Ugh.

I find it coincidental that our white fighters are getting screwed just as whites are starting to show dominance on the track and in the NFL...hmmmm I wonder....

I think he was excellent except he doesn't have power in his punches and that can't be learned, so stick with your own sport, Connor. Last night was absurd - mma expert vs boxer expert but the boxer was the only one allowed to do his thing. But he did great for himself in his first and probably only boxing match and he totally dominated Mayweather for the first four rounds. What they should have next is a rematch in reverse, MMA rules only.

MMA wouldn't be interesting. McGregor definitely wins within a minute or two at the most. Mayweather doesn't even have the puncher's chance on paper anymore, since McGregor survived 10 rounds in boxing with straight up boxing rules, and McGregor took the first 4 rounds easily IMO though the Vegas judges didn't score it that way. One clinch and Mayweather is getting taken down, and ground & pounded out. I would have said kickboxing before this fight would be interesting, but I think McGregor dominates that too, Mayweather will eating knees in the clinch and if he does his standing turn his back and turtle he's eating kicks to his body and I think even if they rematched in boxing he'd eat punches to the body instead of McGregor stupidly trying to clinch him and punch to the head. If Mayweather somehow weathered the first few rounds in kickboxing his legs would be battered, he will take a lot of body shots, and he won't have that late surge where McGregor is exhausted, they both would be. But that still probably would sell a hell of a lot of PPVs and tickets. Mayweather has no chance vs McGregor in kickboxing but GGG vs McGregor in kickboxing would still be a hell of a fight and I wouldn't even try to pick a winner for that one.

McGregor says he loves his Irish fans but he let them down with that and made them believe he could win. All he really loves is money. They could have made the same amount of money in kickboxing, maybe more because nearly everyone rightfully said that McGregor had no chance in boxing but kickboxing would have been more even on paper. Maybe Mayweather would never have accepted kickboxing rules, but McGregor and his team never tried for that either.

According to the scorecards it was another rigged 3 card Monte game. I myself had Mayweather up by a point heading into the 10th round but Floyd had the business of Vegas working for him again...http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ch-stats-and-scorecard-results-from-megafight

Not a total disaster. Lomachenko, Derevyenchenko, Gvodzyk, and Usyk have all had good years. And didn't Golovkin win this year, or was that last year? If GGG beats Canelo that will take some of the sting out of the disgrace that was done to Kovalev. Let us not forget the instant classic when Joe Smith Jr. knocked Bernard Hopkins out of the ring and out of boxing in a thorough humiliation! Actually, that last one was in December 2016, but still within the last 12 months.

You are correct, but I guess I got spoiled by the White domination for the last decade, from lightweight to heavyweight.

Great performance from Connor. Boxing cummunity are literally going mental. Connor never had any professional boxing experience and was beating mayweayher before he gassed. He exposed mayweather, and that makes them angry...

Did anyone see the body shot mcgregor landed at the beginning of round 9? I thought mayweather was on chicken legs and ref saved him.

Thoughts?

I saw him clearly turn his back at least once. I mentioned that before. The ref can stop a fight if a fighter does that.

I don't remember that. I'd like to refresh my memory but they've deleted the videos.
