Michigan has two White defensive recruits to watch out for : linebacker Austin Panter, a Junior college transfer, and defensive end Ryan Van Bergen.

Wow. michigan just lost to freaking appalachain state.... this is insane. I know App. st. are the defending 1-AA champ, but this got to be the upset of the century, better than boise last year. wow totally shocking.

App. St. may have more african-americans than Michigan. The only white person I remember that stood out for them was the guy who blocked the field goal kick for them as time expired and the guy who made the FG to put App. St. ahead. They had all black skill people with a black QB and a fairly black defense. I don't think this will be a caste win for us here, but it does show what a underdog with heart can do. I think alot of it too was Michigan was trotting around the whole game with no desire until the middle of the 4th quarter. I can bet that Lloyd Carr will be in the hot seat now.

Sad to say but the only Michigan player that was showing any heart was (no pun intended) Mike Hart

. He was out for a big part of the game. It will be interesting to hear what happened to Mike to have Lloyd put in that fumbling machine Minor. When Sam gets there I don't think he will have a problem starting if Minor can't hold on to the football. My god, as I type there are 6054 people in at Michigan Rivals forum. They are saying that is a all-time record for most people in one forum in any of the college FB Rivals sites in history!!! And it is not a pretty site at all. For anyone that wants to take a look at the carnage, hates Michigan, or doesn't like Lloyd Carr, now would be the time to take a look.

Correction: Two Time Defending</span> 1-AA National Champions.
This was just idiotic scheduling. You want to play a sub-1A team for your first game? Fine. DO NOT</span> pick the back-to-back National Champions from one tier lower. Go to Div.III if you want to play against some defending champs.
I doubt Carr will survive the weekend.

It's now called FCS, just for everyone's information.

The real funny part is that App. St. could have blown them out. They dropped a sure TD pass and had 2 ints. Mr. Carr, the AD would like to have a word with you and please bring some empty boxes!

The post game discussion was all about "speed" and how App St. had it and Michigan doesn't especially on the o-line and at QB. The fan concensus is that App St. won because they were faster (blacker) even thought the UM defense is all black. But maybe the other guys negroes were darker so that's why they beat the lighter skinned UM blacks.

It's funny that whenever Michigan loses the reason always cited is speed because people believe Michigan is a white team due to the o-line, and QB always being white whereas other teams occasionally have a black QB or offensive lineman. This perception has caused Michigan to recruit skill players almost exclusively from Texas and Florida but it never alters the perception that they are a "slow" white Big Ten team.

UM missed two FG's in the last couple of minutes which cost them the game. That's special teams where they are always weak.

I passed up a free ticket to go to the game, glad I did.

Have to give credit, the App. St. QB played a hell of a game. He had some jitters but did a fairly good job of running the offense. With that in mind, the Michigan D was WAY out of place in trying to cover the App. St. receivers. That is why they looked even faster cause there were no defenders within 5 and sometimes 10 yds of them. All of the blame needs to be put on Michigan's D and Lloyd Carr. Someone should have scouted App. St. better. This win by App. St. may end up hurting our cause in the end.Edited by: mrjohnnynofear

Would have loved to see that one ... unfortunately the new Big Ten Network and all the major cable companies in Michigan are at war, so no one saw it unless they have a dish.

Well GreatLakeState, it is happening again. Only this time it is on national TV and ABC can't do anything to cover it up. Michigan's D is getting exposed for everyone to see. 32 - 7 Oregon at half. Chad Henne is hurting. Oregon blatantly going for and making a 2 pt. conversion without even hesitating. Doing a statue of liberty play for a big gain. And what did Lloyd Carr mention when talking to the sideline report going into halftime...The OFFENSE!!! The mostly african-american D is getting eaten alive by Oregon offense. He can't even admit the dang problem. Someone is in denial.

As I am typing they have Super-Frosh Ryan Mallett at QB for Michigan instead of Henne...WOW!...Jesus now Mike Hart is hurt...I don't know what to say!!!Edited by: mrjohnnynofear

Analyst sees bad U-M signs

"This defense plays so poorly in space," Palmer said. "It's about poor tackling and it looks like a slow defense."

Gee, 10 of the 11 defensive players are black and the defense looks slow. And the scores thus far don't indicate that they have "deceptive speed" either. It's probably because of Will Johnson at DT. If they replace him, all will be right (lol).

Any chance that the broadcasters will refer to the Michigan defensive players "deceptive slowness"? It only seems right that they do.

Funny Stuff:

ANN ARBOR--Several members of the Michigan Wolverines have announced plans to start attending classes next week if they lose to Notre Dame and fall to 0-3 on the season. With their title hopes completely dashed, the players say there would no longer be any reason to neglect their studies in favor of football.

"I'm definitely going to start attending classes if we fall to 0-3," said receiver Mario Manningham. "I mean, what the hell, right? Might as well get something useful out of this year, even if it's only an education. I've always kind of wondered what it's like to go to class anyway. Do they still use chalkboards? Are their chairs and stuff? Will I need a pen? I guess I'll find out soon enough, since there's no way in hell we're winning that game on Saturday."

Quarterback Chad Henne, who was injured in Saturday's loss to Oregon, agreed that the season's spectacular failure could be a blessing in disguise.

"Because we're almost always competetive, most of us don't get a chance to attend class," said Henne. "But now that our chances at a BCS bowl bid are shot, we can take it easy on the football field and shift our focus to the classroom. I even took the liberty of printing up my class schedule last night. Apparently I'm enrolled in Archaeology. That should be interesting. I've always been fascinated by the way buildings are designed."

Some players voiced concern that they would be too far behind by the time they started attending classes, which would make the entire ordeal a waste of time.

"It's going to be tough to walk into a class three weeks into the semester," said defensive end Tim Jamison. "I'll probably have a ton of homework to catch up on. I'll have to get up early too. And I'll probaby have to participate in class and do book reports and stuff. It almost makes you not want to go to class. Well, not 'almost' actually. It does. I'm not going. Anyway, what was I saying?"

Administrators say that the athletes would be welcomed back to the classroom and even given extra help to catch up to their work. They would not, however, be provided with any special treatment because they play on the football team.

"Any football player who wishes to start attending classes is welcome to do so," said English professor Michael Anderson. "It's always heartwarming to see an athlete rediscover his love for the academic side of college life. That being said, they will not be afforded any special 'jock' treatment like you hear about at other schools in the country, not after losing to frigging Appalachian State."

Not everyone is excited about the prospect of Michigan players returning to class, however. Coach Lloyd Carr would prefer to see his team focus on football, and leave the academics to the regular students.

"Whoa, back up. Wait just a second there," Carr said. "Just because we're 0-2 doesn't mean our guys should just give up on the season and start going to class. What we need to do is put our nose to the grindstone and win some games. I don't care if we're 0-8, were not going to throw in the towel. I've said this before and I think every college coach would agree with me: the day your players start talking about going to class, you know you've really lost them."

I was wondering if the head coach gets run out of town, what would happen to McDuffie's chances of being the showcase TB? He is probably one of the best TB recruits in recent yrs. I hope Michigan turns it around and the head coach stays since he promisedMcDuffie he would not move from TB.
