I see that Ryota Yamagata of Japan ran a 10.08 (-0.1w) in the finals and 10.06 (1.3w) in the heats in Canberra, Australia.
Yoshihide Kiryu ran 10.19 in the finals and 10.04 (1.4w) in the heats.
Wow!

Wow, that's great. Love to see the caste get broken. The only thing I could find on Teeters was a 6.65 in an indoor meet in Lawrence Kansas on Jan 6, 2017. He was listed as running for Under Armour. Maybe he is focused more on the upcoming outdoor season. I see the Track Town Summer Series he competed in last year will happen again this year. There is a meet scheduled for June 29th in San Francisco.

Wow!
Yes, I was there to see them demolish our local guys. Kiwi Joseph Millar finished 3rd in the final, 1/2 metre behind Kiryu in a PB 10.24 (-0.1W). He's been the best antipodean sprinter this season and we'll see him again in the Aussie championships in 2 weeks time. Josh Clarke's 10.32 was virtually the same as his 10.22 (+1.6) 3 weeks ago - I wondered when he missed the final after that 10.22 if he was again nursing an injury. I think he's prone to injury woes which may shorten his career prematurely.
With favourable conditions when they peak both these Japanese guys will go sub 10 - just a matter of time.
In the women, Melissa Breen again disappointed - home track, warm day, slight favouring breeze, 650 metres elevation for a 11.47 - she needs to get a job.
Ella Nelson , fresh of the plane from Phoenix where she was in the middle of heavy training managed 22.99 (corrected to 23.00 later) in her first 200 hit out of the year. She trains over there with Stu McMillan.
Hurdler Michelle Jenneke missed worlds qualifying by 1/100 , running 12.99 legal - Sally Pearson again a no-show. Is she living on hope devoid of realism?
Jack Hale, a no show as were many of the listed 100 and 200 entrants. I really feel we've become soft as this never happened till this century after our Olympics and I've been watching since the 70s. What's worse is the people used to advertize for the meet and garner interest were some who no showed.
Millar also PB'd in today's 200 (20.68) behind Kiryu's 20.60 so he keeps improving. I wish he'd also run the earlier 100 yesterday like the Japanese guys. He most probably would have a 10.12-10.15 PB on the board now

Joe Miller is the real deal down under ....very talented young man who began to show his ability in the nitro series .....a guy to watch out for ...good for him he is a kiwi and not an Aussie ....the Aussie have produced nothing and their athletics association not in good shape at the moment ......Miller a 10.2 guy this year .....

Hannah Cunliffe is women's NCAA Indoor 60m Champion!
A great time of 7.14

She also took 2nd in the 200m.
Cunliffe was the STAR but a few other athletes that are worth mentioning from the indoor event. Chad Zallow placed third in the hurdles. Kyle Landon placed second in the high jump. And white girls swept the high jump led by winner Madeline Fagan!!! Contrary to popular opinion (when was the last time you heard an announcer praise a white player's leaping ability during an NCAA women's basketball game?) white girls can jump and then some.

that's good to see - it was at sea level and legal but I can't find the wind speed as yet. He runs at our champs next weekend so let's hope for good conditions.
10.18 puts him 3rd on the NZ all-time list behind Ghanaian import Gus Nketia's 10.11 and Chris Donaldson 10.17 in the 1998 Commonwealth Games final (where Shirvo did his 10.03).

Millar followed up his 100m win and PB, with a win and a PB of 20.37 in the 200m.
That's a fine time . Big personal best and double his 100 time. And his 100 had only a modest +0.5 wind.
His 200 broke last week's personal best 20.68 by another 3/10ths.
That qualifies for the Worlds

Aussie championships: With rubbish rainy , windy weather there won't be male or female sprinters (apart from Ella Nelson) at the Worlds unless there comes some overseas successes in the next few months. As I feared, Joshua Clarke has done his hamstring yet again - he's injury prone.
That we have 6 walkers qualified ironically outlines the bad state of our sprinting.
Our fastest woman is certainly Sally Pearson who has a legal 11.14 from 2007 but she wants to jump over things instead.

I see that Jake Doran ran 10.47 in the under 18 race.
But it looks like he pulled his hamstring and didn't run in the finals.

Dafne Schippers might run in the 10.70's this summer. Who knows? She is incredible. Sub 11's like clockwork and it's only April Imagine what she can do when she peaks later this summer.

Nice opener by Gemili. Hope he can get a few sub 10's very soon.

I'm anxious to see what personal bests Kristoffer Hari can make this summer. I think he can get into the 10.20's as long as he is healthy. Hari is only 19 years or age so no need to rush him too much. Hope his injury has healed properly.

World 200 champion Dafne Schippers produced a notable double dash victory at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azuza Pacific University in Los Angeles on Friday (15).

Running in her season's debut, the 25-year-old Dutchwoman clocked 10.95 to win the 100m, well ahead of world and Olympic long jump champion Tianna Bartoletta of the US who clocked 11.08.

Schippers doubled back to take the 200m in 22.29, the second early-season world-leading performance of the day for the 2016 Olympic silver medallist over the distance.

Gemeli ran a 10.08 in the same meet.

Devin Quinn, a printer who I wrote about as a Florida high schooler 2 years ago, is now running track at the University of Illinois.
Unlike so many high schoolers, he has continued to progress as a collegiate.
This weekend he ran a 10.20 100m and 20.80 200m.
100m (2.0) Devin Quinn 10.20; 200m (1.2) 1 Devin Quinn 20.80
Great times, and he's a sophomore. So 2+ seasons to continue his improvement.

Finally a John Teeters sighting this season.
He ran a windy 10.10 in Oklahoma.
Meanwhile, Kate Hall, the HS record holder in the long jump, ran a legal 11.36 in Virginia.

Nice to see Quinn out there especially that he is American. I looked at a picture of the 2017 Illinois men's track squad and out of about 36 athletes 4 were black one was Asian and the rest were pale faces. Of course all 4 black guys were either sprinters or jumpers.

I already claim her. Lol. Oh it's ok I totally understand. I also think that Burkhardt is very pretty too. It's amazing
that these girls beat the Jaimacans yet the track boards are not giving them enough credit. The German Women have
a world class 4 x 100 Team that is getting better every year. Now if the German Men could step up their game I would
be very happy. I still predict a sub 10 from Reus very soon. He has been so close too many times. It's time for him to break
though.

I would also love to see Kilty and Teeters both do the same this summer.
