It's also so disgusting that not one other team will "copy" what has made New England head and shoulders above every other franchise in the league for the past 16 years. I think there is a pretty big difference between Chiefs and Steelers in terms of white players. Chiefs have 4 of 5 white o-line players, a tight end in Kelce who is pivotal for the offense, a fullback in Sherman who is actually used a fair amount, and a semi-starter on D in Sorenson, who is in on most passing downs I believe.

He had 4 catches for 95 yards at that point so it was a slam dunk he would have cruised over 100 yards and would have joined Julian, who also had a terrific game with over 100 yards. Penn State for years now has rejected white wide receivers and you can bet the house this Franklin guy will not recruit any white running backs ( discussed here) or white wide receivers.
OK white guys go out for lacrosse then transfer to a school play football a couple of years and back door your way into the NFL just like Kearney and Hogan, who are terrific athletes who can run really fast. Obviously the old fashioned route for most white wide receivers has been closed off--you know get a scholarship to a power 5 school have a nifty college career get invited to the combine and get drafted and eventually start at WR in the NFL. This old fashioned approach for white wide receivers might make a come back---in my next life.

Yeah the Chiefs are certainly the ones to root for unless Matakevich and Chickillo get larger roles on defense. Sorensen has impressed this year for sure - 63 tackles and three picks (one for a touchdown off Brees), and has played 48.6% of defensive snaps and 82% of special teams snaps. Zombo has also had an impact on defense, playing 44% of snaps there (and 52% of special teams snaps). If those two can get good game time and make an impact I'll be very glad, in addition to of course Smith and Kelce playing good.


Hmm, wonder what the odds are of Roethhlisberger getting all the blame for a steelers loss despite probably being their best player...

He won the Belitnikoff Award as the Top Wide Receiver in the nation his senior year. According to Wikipedia, "At the 2006 NFL Combine, Hass (unofficially) ran an 4.61 second 40-yard dash, a relatively slow time for a wide receiver, but was reportedly very impressive during the pass catching drills." As we can all see from watching so many NFL games, the "talent evaluators" around the league often place more value on being able to run fast in a straight line than on actually being able to catch a football. But only in certain cases, and we here at CF know what those certain cases are.

Pre-draft analysis had him projected as a third or fourth round pick, but this outstanding talent slipped to the 6th round. Some "experts" said he lacked size and speed. He was 6-1, 206 pounds, so he certainly was not on the small side for an NFL WR. More like average size but obviously far above average ability for a college WR.

And yet, this All-American, Belitnikoff Award winning, record setting athlete, as far as I know, never even played a down during the regular season on an NFL roster. He was very impressive in several pre-season games, but his NFL career consisted on being signed to 3 teams' practice squads from 2006-2010. Not one team saw fit to sign Hass to their regular squad at any point. It appears that for some reason Hass was blackballed from the NFL. To me, this case is maybe the most obvious example of the Caste System. Though there are so many, it's difficult to choose just one.

As for Hass - he was the straw that broke the camels back for me in terms of the caste system. I had become increasingly racially aware through the early 00s - always questioning why their were no white RBs and few white WRs. I followed Hass through college and once he went in the 6th round and was cut by the Saints that was it for me. It's no coincidence I joined the site in 2006 and Hass was drafted the same year.
