I don't want to make this an argument about two white players, because both should be starters in the NFL, but I believe Ball is a better player. Ball has better hands than Hass, the man would at times make one-handed catches routine. Hass does have a very slight edge in speed, but Ball has much better leaping ability (went to UNH on scholarship for track for jumpingbefore walking-on, owns state records for high and long jump, first dunk in the 7th grade) Ball was also better at making people miss. Granted it was on the I-AA level, but his YPC average is so high because he often made people miss and ran after the catch well. Too bad for his injury plagued senior season and slow 40.

A look at Hass's and Ball's numbers compared to Ginn's, and you would think it was Ginn who went undrafted and Ball or Hass as the 9th overall.

I'm shocked at how low Wendling and Shaw went. (If a black prospect leaped over a 66 inch bar, scouts would be salivating) If speed is such a premium, why the drop? Must be those tight hips. I knew skill positions would drop for white but linebacker and safety too? Also you better be black if you want a chance at being a mobile quarterback in the NFL. (Jared Zabransky)

Yet players liek Zabransky who are black (Brad Smith, Michael Robinson, Woodrow Dantzler, Isaiah Stanbeck etc.) always get drafted.

Ball is going to the Bears.

He can have fun rottingon the practice squad with Hass under a racist black head coach who'll call him the "team manager." (poor Forsey). Hopfeully, his inferior CB teammate (who didn't play for UNH nearly his whole senior year yet still got drafted in the 5th round), Corey Graham, will put in a few words for him. God knows the odds are against an undrafted, small-schoolwhite wide receiver.

Also, I found it interesting that on the NFL website, the only 40 time listed for Shaw is a campus 4.63. I thought he ran a 4.48 or a 4.43 at the combine/campus. If so, where's the combine time if that's truly his campus time? He seems to be one of the few if not the only player without his combine numbers listed. Conspiracy maybe??? White men aren't allowed to be fast!

I watched alot of Hass's games. Im not trying to knock Ball at all because I do like him but I mean Mike Hass was Jerry Rice in college. He has the best hands ive seen and amazing body control going up against PAC 10 teams who have players like Mike Williams, Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett getting highly touted and because Mike is white he is an afterthought and people try to bury him.

One more thing that Hass has an edge over Ball in, which he has the edge over any other player I've seen. Hass is the toughest receiver I've ever seen. Ball is inno way a softie and would go over the middle, but I've never seen someone make so many catches while getting absolutely hammered as Hass did. I remember one play especially where Hass got jacked by two guys at the same time, hitting him in opposite directions. Hass held onto the ball(of course), got up, and tossed it casually as if it were nothing. NOBODY sacrifices their body over the middle like Hass did. (Although he obviously could (CAN) catch the long ball too. Sorry NFL scouts, but you don't rack up 1600 yard receiving seasons with 18 YPC by just going over the middle.

I'm not knocking Hass either, but I've watched nearly all of Ball's games and Ball was Jerry Rice in college too. BETTER actually. 8 more TDs, and if not for a torrential downpour against Hofstra where no one passed, he'd also be the all time yardage leader in I-AA as well. (2nd with 38 yards behind Rice. Had more catches than Rice too

) Let's just agree that both are great players and both got screwed thus far.

Jared Zanbransky signed with the Texas. It's a good sign considering Jared is good enough to jump right in there and grab the #2 spot behind Schaub. Although he didn't get drafted; at least Jared signed with a team he's sure to make.

I was on the road all afternoon and so listened to a local sports show discuss the Steelers' draft. Virtually everyone, callers and "experts" alike, doesn't like the team's first round pick, OLB Lawrence Timmons from Florida State. He was indeed quite a reach, as virtually no one denied that he's short, slow, a poor tackler, lacks instincts for the game, andon top of thatwas onlya starter one season. Why was he drafted then? Because he played at FSU, thus he has "great potential."

Here's an interesting comparison between first round pick Timmons, he of the mysterious "great potential" despite a lackluster college career, and Daniel Sepulveda, a white punter drafted by the Steelers in the 4th round (and about which "Steelers Nation" is up in arms for "squandering" a draft pick):

Timmons: 6-0 7/8" 234 lbs. 4.60 40 time

Sepulveda: 6-2 1/2" 229 lbs. 4.43 40 time

The "lowly" punter appears to be a better athlete than the first round pick takenalmost solely because of his "athleticism" and "potential."

Sepulveda was one of the top LBs in Texas in high school and a track standout. His older brother was a LB for Baylor and Daniel walked on (surprised?) as a LB at Baylor to follow in his brother's footsteps. The coaches saw how well he could punt, so they immediately moved him to punter. No wonder Baylor is such a terrible program.

Here is his college bio: Daniel Sepulveda Bio

Has anyone seen all the crap being written in Chicago about them taking Olsen? It stems from him rapping when he was a freshman and calling women names in that rap. He's otherwise been a model citizen.

Also: Theismann grumbles about Quinn. For all the wrong reasons...

The Browns apparently missed all the glaring rea sons to stay away from Brady Quinn. Shame on them.

They got swayed by the statistics, his presence in the pocket and the glowing recommendation of Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis.

With all the analysis that goes into scouting, they still somehow fell asleep on three critical aspects of Quinn. It was left to eagle-eyed Joe Theismann to bring them to light. He did so in a stinging post-draft analysis Monday on ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike in the Morning."

What was it Theismann noticed? A Quinn tendency to throw off his back foot? Shrinkage in big games? A guy intellectually challenged by Weis' pro-style playbook?

No. Nothing like that.

Brace yourself. This is what turned Theismann critical:

The chewing gum in Quinn's mouth Saturday at the draft.

His tie askew.

Hair that screamed - in Theismann's words - "just showered."

Theismann said he found Quinn's look "unprofessional" and that being on stage in front of millions constituted a "job interview." He said that when you evaluate a player, especially one in a leadership position, everything should be scrutinized.

Theisman is just bitter that Quinn is only second to Montana in regards of the best ND QB.

Sepulveda was drafetd so high as a fourth rounder because he can be used as a potential weapon on special teams. Not only does he have a great leg, but he can use that great speed to close down on the opposition or he could be used in fake punt-run situations. Sadly, he could end up being one of the leading white rushers in the NFL as a punter! I can see him now, catching defenses off-guard and running for 20 yards down the field. With 4.4 speed, how was he not tried at other positions, I thought speed was all-important in football.

Good Post, in regards to your 40 yard dash questions on Tim Shaw: From Nfldraftscout: He actually had a 4.51 40 yd. at the combine, His best measurables: @ Proday 4.46 40 yd. 2.54 20 yd., 1.49 10 yd. 10'6 broad jump, 6.90 3-cone; 4.12 shuttle @ combine. 4.44 40 yd. and a 36.5 inch vert at the Nike H.S comine when he was a H.S RB. I think David Ball may actually be faster than Hass. I read the article of how he was injured at the combine that said he must run under 4.5 to get a look (as usual a biased article), and that Ball thought he could come close. Mike Hass ran a 4.59 combine and a 4.56 Proday. Not sure if Ball ever ended up running uninjured.

This is my first time to post here, although I`ve been reading the comments/articles on this site for some time now. I`m a big Steelers fan and I`d like to make a few points about their draft.

First, I don`t see how some of you guys can say Daniel Sepulveda is white. He might consider himself white Hispanic, but is that really what this site is all about? Anthony Gonzalez should be in the Hispanic category, too. They are definitely not black, but white???

Also, Cameron Stephenson-the Steelers 5th rd. choice-has an Australian father and a Tongan mother. Now unless his father isa black Australian Aborigine, I would say that he should be considered as much white by the people on this board as Daniel Sepulveda and maybe even Anthony Gonzalez.

I guess what I`m trying to say here is, instead of wasting time trying tofigure out who is white, it would bemore constructive to spend time pushing for fair treatment/equal opportunities for everyone who is NOT black.

I don`t care if someone in Gonzalez`s family was Cuban, if Sepulveda`s father`s name is Carlos, or if CameronStephenson has a Polynesian mother. If they are not black and are given a legitimate opportunity to play based on what they can do physically, and nottreated unfairly because they lack black skin pigmentation, then I`m all for it.

That's exactly what CF is about. Equality for everyone.

Whites and maybe perhaps oreintals are the only races that are routinely subjected to the "caste pogrom". Having just a little hispanic in you or even the illusion of being hispanic is a sure way to reap the benefits of the caste system. Would Nick Goings be considered a tailback if he were 100% white? Of course not. Would have Gonzalez been drafted as high as he was if he had 0 hispanic blood/surname? Probably not. You mentioned Polynesians (perfect tan everymans) , but haven't you notice how trendy Polynesians, Somoans, or anything of mixed appearance has become in the NFL?

That pretty much leaves whites and Northern Asians as the only races not trendy enough to make it in caste America. Since Asians don't comprise a majority of the population in the U.S. as whites do, they really don't matter. That leaves just whites as the sole victims of caste propaganda. That's why we care. Sometimes, it's true, we care too much (ex-Tony Romo- might be hispanic but everyone considers him pure white based on appearance alone). The country is still majority white - not polynesian, Samoan, Asian, Arab, etc. Whites are the real only victims of the caste system. Does that clear things up?Edited by: Kaptain Poop

Discussing the punters. Sepulveda tore up his knee and I doubt he runs a 4.4 anymore. One of the best athletes in the draft is Adam Podlesh the punter out of Maryland. He has been called the most athletic punter to enter the NFL in 10 years. He runs a 4.4 40 and the Jags will have him run with ball. I remember the Cowboys had a swift punter a little while back-he also played for another team or two---his name escapes me right now and Brad Maynard of the Bears is a good athlete. It isn't that unusual for punters to show athleticism. Heck Darin Erstad was a Nebraska punter.

Kaptain Poop-thanks for your comments. Since I`m new here, I`d like to tell you that I`m probably more familiar with some of the racial dynamics you are talking about as a white guy who has lived overseas for most of his adult life, including the last several years as a minority in Japan. I know full well what it means to be in a position where someone tries to look down on you because of your "race." But thanks for "clearing things up for me."

As for Samoans and other Polynesian players, I saw a good documentary a few years ago about recruiting efforts on American Samoa and couldvery easily see why some Div.1 programs would be so keen to recruit players there, esp. linemen. A lot of hungry young guys there looking for a way to improve their lives, and thatgoes for Hawaii, too. If they are good enough to play, I have no problem with it.

That being said, I do understand the need for this site.White people need to speak out about the bias againstwhite athletes in certain sports that reached unacceptable levelsmany years ago.The more we raise hell and draw attention to thiscrap, the better chance we have of getting something done about it.

But at the same time, I don`t quite getyour reasoning for the term "caste pogrom." As a matter of fact, the use of it hereto refer to the racist nonsense that white athletes have increasingly had to deal withseems ridiculous to me. Are you trying to say that the things discussed here are the equivalent of a pogrom as in an organized massacre of Jewish people? Come on....Next you are going to say that a talented white guy unfairly being kept on the bench-esp. by a black coach-is being "lynched" because the coach won`t put him into the game.¡@

I'm sure you have heard the term 'double standard', correct?

You criticize people on this board for using the word 'pogrom.' How do you feel about McNabb calling T.O's public statements about him, 'black on black crime?' Or Warren Sapp's idea that blacks are slaves for the 'plantation owners' in the NFL, calling Paul Tagliabue a 'slave master?' What is your opinion of Brock Forsey being told he looked more like an 'equipment boy' than a football player? As for 'lynching,' I don't know how old you are but perhaps you will recall the words of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas during his confirmation hearing before Congress?

As for your comment that you have been reading on this forum for some time, if so, you should be aware that the 'who is white' discussions have been going on a long time. There are a multitude of opinions held by members of this forum on that subject, including those that mirror your own. Please read through the Tony Romo thread for the most recent information on this topic.

Do you really feel that your first post on this forum should be to criticize everyone for having a discussion about a player's race or ethnicity, on a board specifically dedicated to supporting WHITE athletes?

By the way, Kaptain Poop's use of the word 'pogrom', placed in quotes, was the first time I recall ever reading that word on this forum, although I could be wrong. I sincerely hope that you are not another person posting on this forum with the purpose of acting as the moral conscience of Caste Football. If so, please don't bother - we have enough of those already, thanks!

white shogun-I was criticizing the use of pogrom because itIS ridiculous as used by Kaptain Poop. If nobody else is using it, then fine. Don`t get so worked up because I wasn`t addressing my comments to you or anyone else other than the Kaptain.

As for the comments of various blacks you mention here, I think they areidiots and, considering the sources, I`m not surprised. Incidentally,I thought Michael Irvin should`ve been canned after his Tony Romo comments a while back. However, jumping from my comments directed toward another person questioning his use of the term "pogrom" in a manner that trivializes the mass murders of different groups of people, to bringing up a bunch of ignorant comments made by blacks, or the demeaning knock on BrockForsey, is totally irrelevant to thesimple pointI was trying tomake in questioning the Kaptain.

Furthermore, I didn`t criticize EVERYONE on this board for having a discussion about what constitutes who is white and who is not. I live and work with people of all nationalities and skin colors and from my experience it seems counterproductive to engage in long discussions on whether someonewhohas mixed ethnicity is white in an increasingly "mixed" world, when the most important thing regarding sports issues here is to ensure fair treatment/equal opportunities for those who areNOT black, which we haven`t been seeing by any stretch of the imagination for a long, long time.
