Bertuzzi to Red Wings

Detroit just got serious by acquiring one of the few players that can bring a team a championship. Other then Peter Forsberg there is no one in the game that can step up at playoff time like Bertuzzi. And Forsberg went to Nashville!

This move is a bit of a gamble for the Wings but it's low cost. They gave up practically nothing. Bertuzzi wont play until April, but so what? The Cup is won in May and June anyway. I've always liked this guy. Years ago I said that the Wings should've traded away any two of their best guys to get him. They waited and it cost them.

Bertuzzi's baggage was caused by his mugging incident. He seems to be past it now. We'll see.

Yeah, I heard about Forsberg in Nashville. That team has absolutely NO excuse to NOT winning it all this year with the roster they have. However, I have my doubts about Bertuzzi in Hockeytown. He's talented, yes, but his reputation for thuggery and bad behavior seems to be lingering on, and Detroit isn't really known for that style of play. They're more of a "style and skating" kind of team.

I remember the "mugging" incident vividly, and personally I didn't think it was horrifically bad. However, the media turned it into an "NBA brawl", because it was just another opportunity to make a White athlete look bad in the public light. If Bertuzzi can keep himself from doing stupid things, then he'll be an asset to any team he plays on. But thats only "if".

Brings back memories of 2004. They replayed the "mugging" about a thousand times on tv. Every idiotic local sports columnist who might usually mention hockey once every 3 years had to throw in their worthless opinion, condemning the sport as brutal and barbaric and "this is why hockey will never be popular in the USA."


The USA winnning the World Cup in 96 hardly got more than a mention, yet the Bertuzzi incident made headlines. Makes sense to me. Edited by: Roundabout

Im from nashville and the predators will CRUSH the red wings...we have had a bit of a rivalry with them since we have been in the league...bit of a david vs goliath thing with them... yeah jaxvid...ur boys are goin down!!!
