i meant Peterman for Northwestern. sorry. he keeps being switched from one side of the ball to the other, kinda like they used to do with Jeff Backes.

The Boleski thing was a misprint guys, I checked the stats again and his name was no where to be found.

it looks like Stanford's Evan Moore is out for 2-4 weeks with another foot injury. ouch! the Cardinal has been simply devastated by injuries this season...

With his two touchdown catches against Ole Miss, Dicky Lyons became the first player in Kentucky history to catch two touchdown passes in three straight games. also, Lyons leads NCAA Division I-A in touchdown catches with six.

and an article from earlier this year describing Lyons as a "goofy" afterthought at wide receiver for the Kentucky Wildcats.

While UK was desperate to find a receiver to line up next to junior standout Keenan Burton, Lyons never got much mention.

"All fall camp, I didn't get one interview," Lyons said.

as an aside, this is just another exmple of white kids being treated differently. if it were a black kid, he would be given "special tutoring help" or the coaches would "work with him" in order to allow his "natural athleticism" to shine through. as it is, Lyons just buckled down and earned his shot, and now he's making the most of it.Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

Jeff Samardzija had a great game today, caught 7 passes for 113 yards (16.1 ypc), longest for 43 yards including 2 TDs!

i posted this in the College Football board, but i wanted to post it here as well, just in case...

did anyone see the Iowa-Ohio State game? OSU looks pretty tough, and Gonzalez looked amazing! he had 2 TD catches among other stats, but one of his TDs was incredible.

he ran a slant, caught the ball, reversed field, broke a tackle, juked a defender, then sprinted down the sideline, and dove into the endzone. an amazing play!
smiley32.gif

afterwards, Herbstreet said that was "all effort" by Gonzalez. in fact, he mentioned "effort" three times and "determination" once, but nary a time did he mention "athletic ability" or "speed." hmmm...
smiley5.gif

after the commercial break, one of the other announcers said "I would pay to see a race between Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzalez. That would be one heck of a race."

to which, Herbstreet followed up with, "His coaches and teammates will tell you that Gonzalez is faster than Ginn, no doubt about it. But I can't imagine anyone being faster than Ted Ginn!"

WTF!!!

quit inhaling his crotch for a second and take a reality check. if you don't believe what his coaches and teammates say, then what the hell will it take to convince you? I can't imagine anyone being faster than Ted Ginn? i'm guessing Herby knows whether or not Ginn's goober tastes like cotton candy, because he's been slobbering on it all season. GIVE ME A BREAK!

soon thereafter, Herbstreet followed up with more Ginn worship to ensure that no one thought he had said Gonzalez was fast... "Now I didn't say that he was faster. In my mind, Ginn has to be the fastest player in football."

well, guess what? he's not even the fastest player on his team! it's a funny thing about facts, they seem to crop up at the most inopportune times.

Gonzalez last year against Iowa.

as an aside, Iowa cornerback Adam Shada looked very good in this game. they almost never challenged him, instead picking on the opposing corner throughout the game.

To clarify, Gonzalez can cover a given distance in less time than Ginn, but he's not as fast as Ginn. Does that help?

haha, it makes perfect sense in a world where Matt Jones "Has good speed, but did not show the second gear needed to be considered a deep threat ... " - and that's according to NFL.com scouts

Gonzalez is getting a lot of MSM attention this week. With the NFL's new Latino fan push, he'll probably get a shot based on his last name alone.

ESPN said:
Ohio State junior Ted Ginn Jr. began the season as a Heisman candidate. He has done nothing to suggest that he is not the receiver and kick returner that everyone expected to wear No. 7 for the Scarlet and Gray.
But there's one issue with his Heisman candidacy. He may not be the best receiver on his team. Redshirt junior Anthony Gonzalez is narrowly ahead of Ginn in catches (24-23) and yards per catch (15.5-14.7). The 6-foot, 195-pound Gonzalez has blossomed from role player to star this season. He caught only 28 passes last season, when he made eight starts.

Gonzalez has an analytical mind, as you would expect of someone who aspires to be a Rhodes Scholar. Perhaps he understands that without Ginn on the outside, he would get more attention from the opposing defense. The surprise is that Gonzalez may begin attracting that sort of defensive attention in his own right.

ESPN said:
Ohio State senior Troy Smith is the best quarterback in the game this season. But as for the Heisman, how do you judge Smith as an individual player? He's got two of the best receivers in the nation in Ted Ginn Jr., and Anthony Gonzalez, one of the best tailbacks in Antonio Pittman and a good offensive line. Is he the engine that makes the Buckeyes go? Or just the most visible component in a well-oiled machine?

Yeah Gonzalez is really starting to become a household name among college football fans, with all of his big games coming in front of national tv audiences(I think its great for caste system purposes). This became evident to me when I see people around in Ohio now wearing #11 Gonzalez jerseys. haha Gotta love it!

This is the second straight week I've watched Logan Payne from Minnesota, and he's good. Had 104 yards and two TDs agaisnt Michigan last week.

Then you have Matt Spaeth, a big-time tight end, and Eric Decker, a strong receiver like Payne, redshirt freshman who plays.

Article about Gonsalez from ESPN regarding Hispanic History month. His grandfather immigrated from Spain to Cuba in the 30's. So his dad is Spanish and the article mentions his mother was German. The article of course does nothing to distinguish real European Hispanics from the rest of them that occupy third world central and south american countries. I am now convinced he is of European Ancestry

So the guy's grandparents lived in Cuba for about only 25 years and so now Anthony is nothing but Hispanic and Cuban. Even though his grandparents are from Spain which is in EUROPE and weren't even born in Cuba now the media just has to paint Gonzalez as a Hispanic. This type of crap really pisses me off. Oh and of course his mom is German but they really don't give a rat's ass about that. They just want you to know that she loves Cuban cuisine.

Gonzalez IS Hispanic. A white Hispanic. Just like Manu Ginobili, Luis Gonzalez, Lionel Messi, and MILLIONS of others around the world. Don't let the media distort the word.

Ginobli can fit the description of being Hispanic by virtue of living in Argentina and Speaking Spanish, but this is where people get confusedas he is not of Spanish descent or heritage, racially speaking.

Wikipedia: Emanuel David Ginobili (Spanish: Ginóbili) (born July 28, 1977 in Bahía Blanca, Argentina), better known as Manu Ginobili, is an Argentine basketball player. He is a member of the Argentine national basketball team and the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. He is generally regarded as one of the best basketball players ever to come from Latin America.

Ginobili comes from a basketball family. Older brothers Sebastian and Leandro have played professionally in Argentina and Spain respectively. Their father, Jorge, was a coach at a club in Bahía Blanca, where Ginobili learned to play. Like many Argentines, Ginobili is a descendant of Italian immigrants

Argentina's largest ethnic group is Italian. Ethnic Spanish people are the second largest, followed by Germans. If you look at their soccer teams usually Italian surnames are the most prominent followed by Spanish and German. Also virtually all Argentines consider themselves white, even Argentines with obvious amerindian ancestry. There is very bad racist discrimintation against native people in Argentina.

He also threw a 40 yard pass on a reverse. Great win for the Ags.
