All the media types believe the best way to fix a bad college basketball season is to change the rules ie shorten the time clock widen the lane blah blah blah blah. These ******** have a short memory. Most of the current rules or even stricter rules were in place during the heyday of college basketball. The PROBLEM is what just happened. 7 Kentucky players went to school to take a piss on their way to the NBA. Want to fix the f'n game go back to the old standard where high school players could apply for the NBA draft and that college players had to wait until their junior year and or are at least 21 to enter the draft. The media does not like that idea because it is seen as holding back "black players". How about having the college game hijacked by this one and done bs. It is no coincidence that the best games of the final four were Wisconsin games, a team that has stuck together.

shorten the time clock..

Shadow, yeah the movement to shorten the time clock is solely about turning the college game into the NBA. Transforming the game into a more selfish style, erasing defense, & encouraging every dunce to skip the extra pass & simply go to the hole.
Even tho a lot of DWFs love the NBA's ABA style, anecdotally I find they enjoy & appreciate the contrast between college & NBA. I never hear a significant grassroots cry for change (?)

For whatever it's worth, here's contact info for the NCAA's basketball rule committee, let 'em know how u feel: http://www.ncaa.org/about/who-we-are/contact-us

People are complaining because a lot of the so called "great" affletes can't actually play basketball. It's not a rule thing.

Every time my team gets a guy that somehow disappoints everyone it's usually just because he can't play basketball. Usually a 6'5 forward who can't really shoot or dribble and isn't super athletic. Not a bust, just can't do anything. The ratings services stink.

John "Califairi" is as crooked as a Georgia road map. He basically "recruits" a'buncha "1 & done" mercenary thugs that 'play' glorified street/ghetto ball.

Real basketball isn't just "run & gun" and 'take it to the rack'. It involves tenacious defense & methodical offense where the ball is quickly moved (via crisp passes) around the perimeter for the open shot. Basketball greatness equates to mastery of the fundamentals & the excellence of execution.

Yes Average American and Dixie---- right on points. BTW I made an error the age limit is 22 and over and/or after Junior year if we were living in a sane world.
Kentucky experiment is disgusting and shows how bad things really are these days in College Basketball.
The reason they changed to the one and done was to give the black players a minor league with the perks of being on a national stage with TV exposure etc.. They knew if the rules were different and high school seniors could enter the draft and college players only after their junior season ala Sam Dekker that only a few frosh would make NBA rosters. The rest would play in the D league with no exposure and very little hype. And Heaven forbid forgotten about.
From early AAU basketball the main thrust is selfish me me me ball with guys perfecting the take it to the rack ball hogs routine. The scouts drool and from the age of 13 on these black players are fawned over like gods.
They go to college one year take their dump and move on to the big bad NBA.
Meanwhile the college game is in shambles. KY was one of the most boring teams to watch this year yet the media went ga ga like little schoolgirls.
These current rules and others in the works are good for one group of players--black players who have a shot at the NBA after one year of school---while the game and just about every other player suffers.
One and done yeh keep this up NCAA and fans will be one and done.

Some of it is just genetics. Do these AAU guys have a high enough IQ to play "real" basketball? Then they physically mature earlier -- so the senior in college is the same guy he was as a senior in high school. Then a lot of these guys just aren't that good. ... I actually think driving the ball to the rim for the layup or kicking it out for the jumper is the way to go. Grayson Allen put Duke on his back during crucial times in the title game by just driving the ball to the basket and converting layups.

... The Harrison's just weren't that good. You think, ok, these guys peaked in high school. Now in basketball you need guys who can get to the rim like a Grayson Allen or Tyus Jones. You need 3 point shooters like Allen and Quinn Cook. Then you need guys inside who can make a quick post move like Jahlil Okafor. Kentucky didn't have any of that. Today's game is set up PERFECTLY for the white athlete with good fundamentals. It's all shooting, drive, dish, cut, rebound, box out, and play solid defense (man or in a zone).

Comparing bigs, Plumlee was bigger than Stein or Towns. Plumlee is also probably more athletic than Towns.

Kentucky was overrated. There wasn't an Anthony Davis on this Kentucky roster. I would also take at least two Coach Cal backcourts over this one. First, the 2008 Memphis backcourt with Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts, then the 2010 Kentucky backcourt with John Wall and Eric Bledsoe. I also think the 2009 Memphis backcourt of Tyreke Evans and Antonio Anderson was better.

Duke had the best guys on the court. Then Grayson Allen does his best Russell Westbrook impersonation off the bench. Game over.

There is the maturity factor. There can be a huge difference in the development of a player skill wise and athletically between their freshman and senior years. That is another reason why it is wise to change back to the can't jump ship until after the junior season rule. The Harrison twins are lard butts who are somewhat skilled but used their size advantage in college. The jury is still out on them as pros.
