I know we have a few members here on the East Coast such as Tom Iron. All forecasts are saying this is going to be the worst storm NJ has ever seen. Worried at this point as billions of dollars of damage is expected.

Thanks! Works been cancelled until Wednesday at the earliest. Looks like a crazy storm with up to two feet of snow in West Virginia.

Yes this is very serious, we had our power out for a week in a half for Hurricane Isaac and it was rough without even any damage to our property. Can't remember how long the power was out during Katrina, make sure you have some type of self defense as well, even if you don't live in a bad area, Ive heard stories of looters going pretty far into the suburbs.
I will be saying a prayer as well.

I've been in a couple earthquakes and had a forest fire barely miss my place. But I've never been through a big storm like this one is supposed to be. Let's hope it's overrated.

Sounds like some "advance" planning (looting) for the Hurricane. Of course, many (looters) will, probably, get washed away.
The ones in the path stay safe and be prepared. Expect emergency resources to be diverted even more than usual to nonwhites areas. Whites will rebuild. Remember disasters come and go and a society that survives is one that can rebuild after disasters but one that can't survivors live in the ruins or invade someone else's area.

Considering it's NYC there will be some fools that will stay and try and loot. If It's a true disaster such as Katrina the police will probably be told to let looting go on and just rescue people that didn't get out. One thing in looters favour in NYC the various gun control laws has made looting "safer" as the average law abiding citizen in the city doesn't generally have a small arms permit and long arms are near useless in a b+e situation if they are stored the way the law demands(at least in Canada). :thumbdown:

My little corner of Tidewater ... we had sideways rain and 60-knot sustained winds yesterday for about fifteen hours. SANDY has been no fun at all. VERY lucky my area, the power stayed on and we were spared major damage. Add ten knots to the winds yesterday and there would have been casualties and major damage. I have unhappy friends in Long Island near the coast who have major flood damage and blown away roof shingles.
Negro looting is a hideous side-effect of these big storms. But Les Noirs will be mostly quiet despite the Twitter bragging. It's cold outside! Negroes won't loot when it's 35 F and windy.
Very Katrina-like, this storm. Usually it's only Deep South, Gulf of Mexico dwellers who have experience with mass coastal destruction. Maybe some New Yorkers will be less inclined to lick their chops for nuclear war in the Middle East. Naaah, this won't change them much at all. Oy, Vey!

I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, temporarily staying in Edison, NJ, but all seems OK here now. Electricity went off at about 9:30PM night of the storm, but back on again at 5AM the next morning. Now I need to try to drive south tomorrow. Hope that the roads are OK and gasoline is available and there's not 12 feet of snow in South Carolina.
The politicians and talking heads on the tv set love to go on about how Americans and New Yorkers are so great and stick together and help each other in times of crisis. Yeah right, maybe in their ritzy gated communities and exclusive Fairfield County Connecticut neighborhoods, but fall down in a negro neighborhood in NYC and all they'll find is a few gnawed bones by the next morning. And of course they've disarmed all the honest people in NY and NJ so they can't defend themselves.

Just like we speculated looting has happened in NYC. But the situation for residents is potentially worse as most didn't leave their residences. My area of Brooklyn was virtually unaffected by the storm. I was lucky. I have lots of friends, family and coworkers who are currently without power still. Areas of Long Island and New Jersey have been hit especially hard. I have been off all week from work since lower Manhattan is a mess. Mass transit might not be running til the weekend at earliest. This might be the worst storm to hit NYC and the surrounding states in recorded history. A true hundred year storm.
I hope all the CF poster from up here are alright. I noticed Tom Iron, Thrashen and bigunreal haven't posted since Sandy. Hope to hear from all the "missing posters" soon.

Hey everyone - i survived Sandy - just got power back a little while ago, it has been out since Monday. As far as the storm we just got hit with wind and not to much rain. I am in CT but did not get hit like those places closer to NYC. I hope all castefootball posters who reside in Sandy's wake are ok.

Ah, for the good old days when "looters will be shot on sight!" But now in our current wishy-washy mamby-pamby "enlightened" society, they are coddled.
As for me, I'm in middle America, but my company is based in Connecticut. They have had no power this whole week which has really screwed things up for me out here in the hinterlands. No access to servers, CRM, order entry, anything. I'll bet there are countless others like me out there too, affected by this disaster.

Of course that is the way to stop mobs of looters or arsonists. That's a language that even a common street n'r can instantly comprehend. Threaten them with desk appearance tickets and arraignments and arrests and they'll just laugh.

Not too bad in my area but other parts of NJ are terrible. Millions lost power and hundreds of thousands are still without power. I'm in north Jersey about 15 miles east of Manhattan. Some trees and power lines down, flooding was pretty bad in some areas. The Jersey Shore was completely destroyed. Thank btw!
Hey WA33, glad you and WW "wheathered the storm" as we say in the boxing forum. I hope the other CFers in your neck of the woods survived and were not too badly hurt by Sandy. Tom Iron, Thrashen and others, please advise that your ok. Also if you are in dyer straights, PM for $ support, I'll do want I can.
