2011 Texas Longhorns

Here are your white starters for the Texas Longhorns this year. It looks like another decrease this year in terms of white starters, with only 5 to start the year. RS Blake Gideon is an athletic playmaker in the Longhorn secondary, and should hear his name called on draft day next year. Some white backups to watch for are WR Jaxon Shipley, LT/RT Luke Poehlmann, LG Thomas Ashcraft, C/RG Garrett Porter, MLB Chet Moss, and RS Nolan Brewster. Texas had 8 white starters last year, 9 in 2009, 8 in 2008, 6 in 2007, and 7 in 2006.

For some reason I was thinking/hoping Texas would start more Whites this season. What a shame that they have regressed to their lowest point since we've been tracking them.

Senior starting safety Christian Scott arrested, suspended

(He's one of these wholesome Texas boys.)

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas senior safety Christian Scott has been suspended from the team after being arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault with bodily injury.

An Austin police spokeswoman says Scott was arrested Monday morning near his apartment after officers responded to a call about an assault. Further details were not immediately released.

Coach Mack Brown said in a statement Monday evening that Scott was suspended from "all activities with our football team." He says when the legal process is complete, "we will do what's best" for the school, Scott and the team.

I have no idea if this will provide any opportunites for any white backups. Assuming this punk has to sit for even one game...

It might give Nolan Brewster a chance to start alongside Blake Gideon.

Texas update. The Longhorns will increase their white starter total to 7, with Blaine Irby starting at H-Back and Jaxon Shipley at WR! In addition Dominic Espinosa is starting at C and David Snow got moved over to RG. Shipley is also returning punts.

Nice to see the Jaxon Shipley era at UT start with a TD on 2 catches for 54 yards and 3 carries for 25 yards.

I thought I was experiencing deja vu when I saw J. Shipley and C. McCoy in the stats column on ESPN.com for the Texas-BYU game. It's unfortunate to see Gilbert get sat, but nice to see the McCoy and Shipley brothers continue the legacy!

Can't really feel bad for Gilbert, he had plenty of playing time to improve himself. Glad to see the McCoy/Ash duo though, Ash looks like a legitimate running threat which Texas needs.

Sad news out of Austin, White Safety Nolan Brewster has quit the team because of concussions and post-traumatic migraines that he has suffered since high school. I wish him the best in all his future endeavors.

The long rush for his career is only 39 yards, yet the MSM treated him as if he's so great. He wasn't that much of a threat in the passing game, either. So, yes, he was "made" into a Caste-idol, and his name/nickname likely has a lot to do with it. Consider who runs the media..
