i'm watching the game on ESPN3. it's free. and with about 5 minutes lest in the first half, BYU's defense is still pitching a shutout.

just as i typed that, Texas intercepts BYU deep in Cougar territory. hopefully, BYU will come up with a big stop. including this possession, Texas has converted only 1 third down ... now 1-for 7 in the half! awesome!

that was a BIG stop! holding the Longhorns to a field goal was HUGE right there. BYU gets the ball back, up 13-3.

Notice how Crowell is actually having a breakout game against a "real" defense. Kind of like when Blount got stuffed against Boise after his breakout year.... without the punch thrown. Yet these guys are ignored by the NFL.

Why does BYU insist on using Quazeda or whatever his name is, its obvious JJ is 10x better. A defender just tried to lay JJ out and wound up falling backwards himself.

I read that Zach Line has 10 carries for 70 yards right now, with a 40 yarder early in the game, but that is just some random fan on espn conversation they don't have a box score for the game.

Caste speak alert! A few minutes ago JJ Diluigi had an 8 yard run around the left end and the announcer commented that he has "deceptive speed":icon_rolleyes:

Texas' kick returner is the world champ in the long jump ... and has "world class speed" according to the announcers. yet he was just tackled in the open field by BYU's kicker.

also, the best running back for Texas is their back-up quarterback Ash. he looks dynamic running the ball.

I count four anti-caste "wins" thus far....PSU, Auburn, Wisconsin & Stanford. Am I missing a few?

Jaxon Shipley is the only Texas wideout that BYU can't cover ... "weird" that he's the only Longhorn receiver that looks like he does. and he's explosive on returns, as well. you'd think Texas would recruit more players who "fit that profile."

also, BYU's offense has completely stalled in the second half. their two affletic wideouts have done almost nothing. only the tight ends, Jacobsen, and DiLuigi are factors in the passing game for the Cougars. yet, we were told that the two tall negroes were "exciting playmakers" and were "not your father's BYU receivers."

at least that last bit is true, because old school BYU wideouts could get open and catch the ball.

Texas is up 17-16 with about 7:30 left in the game, and they just got the ball back.

edited to add: just that quickly BYU's defense holds with a big 3-and-out to get BYU the ball, down just a point. there's still plenty of time left.

edited again to add: what the heck is BYU doing? they're completely imploding offensively. in addition to no running game or vertical passing attack, now they are self-destructing with penalties. and now another interception by Heaps trying to force a ball to the negro Apo who wasn't remotely open. ugh.

Not a win, but small FCS and white friendly Wofford gave Clemson all they wanted in a 35-27 loss!

Penn State and Joe Pa's insistence in using nothing but affletic black quarterbacks is the achilles' heel for the program. The defense didn't do too badly considering that they were on the field the whole game as Penn State's supa QB's are absolutely pathetic.

Although I hate Texas' near coal-black D, the offense with the new McCoy-Shipley connection is awesome to watch, along with the dominating inside play of the O-line (the inside, where the big white guys are).

Texas runs a fake end-around with Shipley who completes a pass to Ash, the running quarterback. that just about seals the deal for Texas.

too bad, because the BYU defense once again plays well, as did the o-line and tight ends for the Cougars. their lack of a running game (why is DiLuigi off the field so much?) and no vertical passing threat came back to haunt them in the second half.

and with that run for a first down, the Longhorns put the game away. a good game, but disappointing for BYU, i'm sure. and for me! but what a nice game by Shipley. again.

I agree with both of you. It really hurt to see Byu lose as the defense played so hard on the road against Texas. I did enjoy watching both McCoy and Shipley though.

SMU has a small lead at the moment. Zach Line has 18 rushes for 101 yards so far with about 6 minutes left.

BYU's defense is top ten in the country. There offense is probably one of the worst in the country. The only players I like on there offense are the line.

Sam Mcguffie had 9 carries for 48 yards and 2 catches for 38 yards and a TD, in the win over Purdue.
Brandon Bourbon had 7 carries for 37 yards.
Alex Teich had 15 carries for 102 yards in NAVY's big win.

Trent Steelman, Army's terrific option quarterback, rushed for a career-high 157 yards and 3 touchdowns on 21 carries in a losing effort today against San Diego State. he also was 2-4 for 43 yards passing. i'd like to see some highlights for this kid, because apparently he's a talented runner with prototypical size (6-0, 204-pounds) for an NFL tailback. he's also a great leader and has amazing durability. of course, the NFL "experts" hate Tebow, too, so i doubt he'll get much of a shot at the next level.


Steelman celebrates a touchdown run

Notre Dame needs to give up football and just concentrate on hockey or something, they let a guy with the passing skills of Tavarius Jackson shred them in the 4th quarter. I'm traditionally a UM fan but 3 TD's in the last minute is kind of ridiculous.

Turns out one of my co-workers actually played against Devon Wylie of Fresno in his high school days. Says Wylie has big strong arms, and is fast. I hope he has a good year for the Bulldogs.

In the "bad news" column:

Two previously starting white stars for Arkansas State have been removed from their football duties, as neither RB Derek Lawson nor WR Taylor Stockemer were allowed to contribute in a blowout victory over Memphis. Lawson was given a token pass for a touchdown in the third, after ASU had already scored 40, but then wasn't used for the rest of the game.

Indiana's offense has been re-tooled for their black quarterback (which failed, since they still lost). Matt Perez split carries with the QB and a black RB. Perez will still get carries as the short-yardage back, but he will likely be required to add significant weight.

Mitchell Bailey, as it turns out, IS eligible for the ULM Warhawks. He's just not getting to showcase his considerable talents. He got three token carries in ULM's blowout victory over Grambling.

Denard Robinson, with his 46% completion percentage and 3 INTs, will be hailed as a Heisman frontrunner after Notre Dame fell asleep and allowed Michigan to steal a come-from-behind victory.

Thomas Roberson is nowhere to be found for Tulsa. He's not injured, according to the Tulsa boards.

Jordan Jenkins is finally getting to play for Oregon State. However, they are terrible this year. I'm guessing graduation hit their lines hard. Jenkins is a speedy and agile runner who would be a star on a competent team. No chance of a breakout season for him with OSU, though.

Arkansas's stud DE Jake Bequette went down early in the game with a knee injury. He didn't return. I was watching the game. The replay didn't show much, but Bequette's behavior after the injury was not encouraging. Bequette's NFL future was already damaged after the Arkansas staff decided to use him as a hybrid OLB/DE this season. His size-speed combination makes him an excellent candidate for an NFL DE, but he has no experience as an OLB (and he's not quite fast enough for that position, either). Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson also went down at end of the first half after hard contact. He didn't play the second half, which I'm sure greatly pleased Arkansas's black quarterback-loving Off. Coordinator.

Naby's slotback John Howell had 113 yards and 2 tds on only 3 carries and Ohio's tb Beau Blankenship had a solid game.

SMU dynamic duo Zach Line and Cole Beasley had a terrific game. Line finished with with 114 yards and 2 TDs (5.7 per carry) and Beasley had 10 catches for 99 yards.

Sophomore tailback for University of Wyoming, Brandon Miller, had 11 carries for 101 yards and a TD. He was much more effective than Alvester Alexander who had far less yards on more carries.

Also, the speedy Jared Karstetter from Wash. St. had 66 yards receiving and 2 TDs.

Seems like our guys had a better week 2 than week 1.

Yes it does, Freethinker, thanks for posting those stats!

Dahnard Robinson has never been a very effective passer, he will most likely play WR at the next level. I also predict Michigan will have a horrible season, as they did last year, They are not as good as Ohio State, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Penn State, and Iowa.

As I thought last year; Wisconsin clearly has the best offensive line in the NCAA. They are going to maul people this year. Does anyone know what happened to Mike Trumpy and Jeremy Ebert of Northwestern yesterday? Backup rb Jacob Schmidt had a solid game replacing him. Also its been remarked here before but Taylor Martinez of Nebraska is a ball hog extrordinaire.

Did a quick search and didn't see why they didn't play, but I'm sure the info is out there somewhere.

Talking about Martinez, I was a little surprised to see him run it that much yesterday. I would have thought Rex Burkhead would've received more carries.
