Vandy started 10 whites last year and 11 in 2009. Here are the projected white starters for 2011.

TE-Brandon Barden
Tackle-Wesley Johnson
Tackle-Ryan Seymour
Guard-Jabo Burrow
Center-Logan Stewart

DE-Tim Fugger
DE-Walker May
DT-T.J. Greenstone
DT-Rob Lohr

It looks like only 9 white starters this season and the team is slowly getting darker. Wide receivers John Cole and Trent Pruitt should also see some playing time.

From what I remember over the years, Vandy has been dark at positions like linebacker for some time, and they've had affletes that got drafted (and had decent careers) like Jamie Winborn.

From this April 12th depth-chart, if accurate (as in - the White D-linemen are still at Vandy), they have never had more White D-linemen than now. http://vanderbilt.rivals.com/cdepthtext.asp

Celticdb15 made a post about Utah native (DT) Colt Nichter being big for Vandy last year. Kyle Woestmann, Thomas Ryan and Jared Morse are also White, and, if they are all at Vandy, there will be remaining BATTLES for starting spots and PT!

i recall reading somewhere that John Cole is the fastest Commodore ... although i don't know if that's true, i do know he can really run. furthermore, i don't know why he wouldn't be one of the starters at wideout, since he's been there most productive wide receiver for the past two seasons. this, despite battling injuries in both seasons.

let's hope he can stay injury free this year and light up the stat sheet for the Commodores. *pun*

The depth-chart is updated and there's some good news and bad news.. only 3 Whites on the o-line (Johnson at center, Seymour and Burrow). And, the all-White d-line had to be "upsetted" I guess, this time by a 6-foot-0 250 pound afflete at DE.. :icon_rolleyes:

Colt Nichter (White) is starting over Greenstone at DT. Now, to the good news, they have a White OLB that is projected to start - Chase Garnham: http://vucommodores.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/garnham_chase00.html

Fitz Lassing is their starting fullback (who rushed for 1,400 yards as a HS Senior as a RB). http://vucommodores.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/lassing_fitz00.html I just think this situation is worth noting. Also, they moved 6-4 240 pound TE - Mason Johnston - to back-up fullback. Seems kind of "odd" unless Vandy might try to use these athletes in their offense as "mismatches?"

But how do they get in? I thought that Vandy was the most selective school in the South, excepting Duke.
