Looks like Newton is going first overall. Could the NFL seriously let him fall such as happens to White QBs every draft?

I'm still going to be optimistic and predict that 8 overachievers, aka White football players, will go in the first round. Any other predictions?

HAHa Carolina will finish last again in 2012. Great pick, can't wait for Ron Rivera's career to take a skydive.

I'll refer to my October 8th post in the "College Stars" section..

http://castefootball.us/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12970&title=dying-to-find-the-new-daunte-culpepper

Excerpt:

"4-star" Jordan Jefferson isn't it... I don't see the "new Daunte" anywhere in college football right now, but... will someone be annointed and artificially elevated, the red carpet rolled out for them by the NFL? Their "abilities" grossly exaggerated by draft experts and scouts?

Yes, there may be someone.. "6-foot-6" Cam Newton. They are pouring the worship on heavy and he gets praised for Auburn's thumping of coal-black Louisiana-Monroe?

Oh jeez. . . first we get the super-phony Deion Sanders wannabe Cam Newton, now Von Miller weeping uncontrollably. Typical black posing by one, typical black overemotionalism by the other.

Bills take Dareus.....is that as a 3-4 DE or are the Bills changing to a 4-3? 3rd overall pick on a space eater seems insane but at least it will give Kyle Williams some help. Surely they can't be thinking Dareus as a nose?

So the minimizing of Jordan Shipley's career continues. Just the perfect script for all of outstanding white athletes. Bengals pick WR AJ Green with pick #4???

Doesn't change much seeing as how Shipley is the designated slot WR.

I don't think Shipley will ever get a shot at playing outside in the NFL. With Chad Johnson likely gone, the Bengals need a goodoutside receiver. I think this can actually help Shipley's career because with good outside receivers he'll be open more often in the middle and can potentially be as good as Wes Welker.

If anyones career is minimized, its Kerry Meier... with the Falcons choosing Julio

Wow, horrible pick by Atlanta. If they don't make it to the Superbowl at least they'll probably all be out of jobs. Your 1st, 2nd, 4th AND next years 1st and 4th for the 2nd best WR? Maybe the Browns will get Hillis some help!

I'll disagree with you. The Falcons have been using the very mediocre Michael Jenkins outside for what seems forever. If Jones is good, that gives them two weapons outside, which can make Meier very effective as the slot receiver, if they use Meier that way. But there's a good chance that Meier will never beutilized as anything more than a #4 receiver/WSTD type. I don't think the Falcons would have ever given him a fair chance to replace Jenkins.Edited by: Don Wassall

I respect your opinion Don. Number 7 a little high for Aldon Smith?

it's sad there is no reason why Shipley can't play the outside. Hes 6 foot, runs a 4.5. Not every offense is designed like the Patriots where the slot guy gets that many touches. Welker is the number 1 option on many passing plays, mainly the screens of course. So far the Bengals offense hasn't operated like that. Shipley is usually the 3rd read. Its going to be much harder to crack 1k in the offense that he is in. Why not keep the 6'6 guy from the SEC that ran a 4.3 with NFL experience? What a wasted pick, Palmer said hes not going to stay.

Finally, someone sticks up for Locker, Gruden, while Kiper is throwing out stats. He watched more than me, i counted around 50 plays that were dropped or he couldn't do anything with. Gruden said 66 plays. Hopefully that won't be the case for the Titans, but they did get a case of the drops with Collins, that was only with Young as the backup. Put Mariani in there so he has a sure handed guy.

Meier is kind of wasted talent if you limit him to the slot. Hes not a guy that gets many yac. Hes big and plays physical at times (6'3 220) You let him run a 30 yard route he will find a way to catch it, you let him run 10 yard route across the middle, hes going to get 10 yards. Thats exactly what happened his senior year, less longer routes and more working the middle, his yards dropped even though his catches increased. I see him similar to Marques Colston of the Saints, yes he can play the slot but they line him up all the positions. Its similar to most white receivers, they are versatile enough to line up anywhere but are limited to the slot.

Yes, Gabbert to the Jaguars. Hopefully they let him replace Garrard captain check down right away.

as soon as i typed that they are talking about how he is going to get to sit and learn behind David Garrard. What can David teach him? if the first read isn't there dump it off to Maurice or Mercedes? Why would you have a top ten pick to sit an learn. Usually those guys are thrown to the wolves.

I totally forgot about the draft being tonight, until Dixie Destroyer mentioned it to me a little while ago. We've had more pressing matters going on here in Georgia. Sounds like the typical caste system NFL MO.

cynicaloptimist, I like your signature. Haven't seen that one in a while.

J. J. Watt to Houston. Another pick I love. They'll now have Watt, Cushing and Connor Barwin as beasts and potential beasts on defense.

What a joke this draft is. Cam Newton had to be the #1 pick or evidently the entire NFL would have been accused of being racist. He will be absolutely horrendous- basically a Jamarcus with severe character flaws.

What a shocker that once again, despite 90% of the first round picks always being from the same magical minority group, the one player to "slide" for inexplicable reasons in the first round is a white guy. I can't watch much of this nonsense- did they settle lovingly on Gabbert's face numerous times, as he tried to hide the disappointment? And how do the Redskins not take him- when they were supposedly trying to trade all the way up to #2 to get him? I guess the Redskins' proud record of virtually no white #1 draft picks over the past 50 years continues. How about those 49ers; I guess we can all see that Jim Harbaugh is just like all the other idiotic NFL coaches, reaching mightily for a black defensive lineman, instead of Gabbert, who should have been considered a steal at that point.

Okay, I guess Nick Fairley somewhat qualifies as a "slider." I would have absolutely loved seeing that smarmy, arrogant Cam Newton's face as he waited to be drafted. But the league couldn't possibly let him slide, could it?

Lots of interesting picks here. Locker replaces VY, Gabbert replaces Garrard. PONDER to Vikings! QB's everywhere. What'll happen to McNabb? Could Newton be the last black qb?

Reb - Don't post a lot but this draft is crazy. I check the site pretty much everyday though lol.

The Vikings must have figured Locker would still be around when they picked. Great to see Ponder taken instead.

looks like Leslie Frazier isn't a TOTAL racist, he realizes he can't win with Joe Webb or any other affletic qb on the roster, picks up Christian Ponder, underrated qb., Thats 4 whites in the top 15 so far, pretty decent considering some other years.

Kerrigan should go in the first round, hopefully Reed. There should be at least 3 White O-linemen taken. Dalton may go. Kyle Rudolph has a shot. We could see double digit figures for overachievers! Edited by: Don Wassall
