Big weekend for boxing!

In tommorrows marque matchup we have the 2nd or3rd PFP fighter in Sergio Martinez fighting against Dzinziruk, the most fundalmentally sound Junior Middle Weight Champ.

I believe the fight will be close for the 1st 6 rounds then Sergio's power and atheletism will overwhelm Dzinziruk. Sergio will catch him with a shot he doesn't see and lights out or staggers, with Sergio unleashing hell and the ref stopping the fight.

Other big matches with winners will be

Zbikowski with a mid round KO

Lee with a late round KO.

Mayorga with a big upset, KOs Cotto in round 7!

I don't know who to root for in this fight. Martinez and Dzinziruk are both very good and I'd hate for either of them to lose.

HBO's Ross Greenburg promised Gary Shaw a fight for Dzinziruk a year ago.

So he makes him wait a year instead of having him on last fall, then forces him to move up a heavier weight division and fight the best boxer at that weight, probably the one fighter at 154 or 160 that Sergiy cannot beat.

In contrast, for his favored negro boxers, Greenburg has other fighters move up in weight to fight them. For example, the overpaid Andre Berto has had Urango move up, and will now have Ortiz move up from smaller weight divisions to face him.

And for the mediocre Adrian Broner, Greenburg had the light featherweight Ponce de Leon move up two weight divisions. Ponce won the fight anyway, but was robbed by crooked judges who favored the HBO "star".

Andre Berto has to be the most protected fighter in the last 15 to 10 years. He is always matched with blown up lightweights, old guys or never weres. I hope Ortiz beats him next month. Even Ortiz is a former junior welterweight contender. Berto has lived on the gravy trainer and being paid well by HBO.

Berto made something like $1M for his last fight which lasted all of two minutes against a complete scrub. He's a joke. HBO are paying over the odds for him when they have no real competition.

Parody - Good points. The black fighters always seem to get the decisions on HBO; Alexander, Broner, Mike Jones against Soto-Karrass are some over the last few months. They want the black fighters to win and do what they can to make they will get the decision if it goes to the cards. The only way the opponent can win is by forcing a stoppage against the "future stars".

As for the Martinez-Dzinziruk, it's hard to pick against Martinez; he's more adaptable, probably stronger, faster and he's fought at this weight a few times now. Dzinziruk is an excellent technician with a superb jab but I'm not sure he'll be able to switch his style up if he needs to like Martinez can.

Just thinking, when was the last time HBO had an all-White doubleheader? I can't think of any.

HBO having a twin all White card is a very real sign of times, which is great. It means affelets at the highest ranks are dwindling.

If this NFL lock out goes on for over a year, we'll see some of these affelets trying these hand at boxing, only to get KTFO!

Lee has his hands full with McEuen and is losing. He doesn't move his head enough. McEuen looks confident.

Hawkeye, Sergio parents are from Spain, ie Europe, how much whiter is that, you want someone that looks like Dennis the Mence.

Lee is looking like a 2nd tier fighter, and McEwen is looking like a pro who knows his way around the ring. Lee is in trouble.

Lee rebounded a bit in the 6th round but I feel for him to win, his power will need to bail him out or he loses.

Lee is now coming on, but he is going have to knock down his opponent to get a draw. He doesn't put combos together well.

Two world class fighters, its just Sergio is a once in a life time fighter. Sergio gets the KO over a world class fighter, He knocked him down 5 times.

Westside, i'm watchin the fight too. looks like your scouting report was Nostradamas-esque. i really like Sergio. reminds me of Roy but minus the ghetto bullsh*t. i hope he destroys Kirkland.

Dzinziruk had balls. never backed down. he was just overwhelmed. no shame in it, he gave all he could. his trainer needs to go back and watch tape of Barrera knocking out Naseem Hamed. that fight gives a blueprint for attacking Roy type fighters, while minimizing their counterring.

cheers bro.

There is only one fighter that could beat Dzinziruk between 154 and 160 lbs, his name is Sergio Martinez. Dzinziruk did win two rounds and was quite effective against Sergio in rounds 6 and 7, but I suspect Sergio was taking a breather.

Anyways, Johnnyboy is right, Martinez is alot like Roy Jones during his prime, less the ghetto fabulous nonsense that Roy had in the beginning. Sergyi should go back to the 154 lbs division and clean house.

Out of the fights I predicted, I got one wrong. Mayorga quit in the 12th round. I really thought/think Miguel Cotto is one hard punch from being removed from his senses permanently from boxing, Richardo is just an air bag now, albeit an entertaining one. I guess hitting .750 is not bad. LOL

Sergio Martinez is one sick hombre, one of the best to emerge from Argentina in years, and one of the best MW of the this generation.

Dzinziruk looks solid too, just needs a bit more polishing and experience.

McEwen needs to improve his stamina, and if possible add more power to his punches, he literally punched himself out against Lee. Although I'll give Lee credit for hanging in there, and scoring a great comeback TKO.

Martinez also has White skin and blueish eyes but I guess his "mexican" sounding name cancels that out...

I watched the Lee vs McEwen fight again. If McEwen can improve his stamina and endurance by 25% or more and put a little more pop on his punches he can beat anyone at 160 lbs except Sergio Martinez(who can?). Also, spending a complete camp with Roach will only make him better. Lee was luckily that his power bailed him out that fight.

I look forward to McEwen next fight!

ESPN via Dan Raphael, one of the most credible boxing authorities and go to guy inside boxing, just elevated Sergio Martinez as the 2nd PFP fighter in the World. He hopped over Gayweather. Pacman is the 1st.

This is a big deal! I am kinda wondering why this thread is not more active? Being the Undisputed Middleweight Champ is the other glamour division in boxing. Sergio is a once in a lifetime fighter, and he is White. I suspect the lukewarm reaction is that some here thinks he is Hispanic. Wrong, just look at his face. He looks like millions of Spainish men in Spain. Am I missing something? It can't be that he is not American. See the K Bros.

Next to the K Bros, he is the greatest White fighter to come along in decades with Bute hot on his heels. This is a great time to be a White boxing fan.

I hope the CF members here and especially the stalwart Boxing posters i.e. Parody, WA 33, lost, Johnnyboy, WW the Hock and others realize this, and show him a little more support.

Westside, all of us here like Martinez. He's pretty much the new Joe Calzaghe. His win against the black dope Paul Williams was very crucial.

LOL!! Don't know what happened to my post. Anyway, you know that Martinez only became champion because of his "non stop motor" and he's "made the best of his limited athleticism." I like how he dispatched the great black dope Paul Williams.
