What's sad is that Walker is likely still better than some of the black journeymen in the NFL who keep qualified White running backs out of the league.

I remember Walker in college. I was really impressed with him. Till this day I think he was one the top five RBs ever in college. But when he got to the NFL, he was just ordinary with an occasional good game, much like the Lawfirm guy.

Also, I think I read back somewhere or possibly here, that he had a mental illness. Him pontificating that he can still play in the NFL is probably a consequence of his untreated illness. He is delusional. I see how they feed him weak MMA white fighters. MMA just profiting on a name with 'assured' wins.

If it wasn't for the pathetic level of play in the NFL today, this story would be completely laughable. As it is, it is only somewhat laughable to me. I don't see this happening. Walker and his "huge thighs" were a marvel to DWFs back in the day, but that was over 25 years ago.

Even on some sort of crazy steroid routine he is way too old to even be training camp fodder. In his last two year in the league Dallas only brought him back to be a backup fullback and to do special teams. I think it's been alter ego 2 or 3 talking to the media...

Now that you mention it I remember reading about that too. Multiple personalities I think.

He is in outstanding shape, but his body couldn't take the constant wear & tear of the NFL at age 48. He might still have speed & agility, but his joints & bones couldn't stand the brutality of training camp through (potentially) post season.

As far as MMA, Strikeforce is feeding him 'mater cans to fudge his record. Against top HWs like Fedor & Barnett, he'd be summarily destroyed.

Jim Brown, who retiredunexpectedly at the age of 30while still at the peak of his running ability, used to threaten to un-retire and play again in the NFL just so Franco Harris couldn't surpass his career rushing mark. He hated how Harris ran out of bounds to avoid contact, the first running back to do so on a regular basis. Now of course almost all of them do it as a matter of routine.

Brown used to also mock Harris's lack of speed and instead of playing again challenged him to a 40 yard race, which took place when Brown was 47 and Harris was 31 (give or take a year). Harris won, but they both had ridiculously slow times.

Walker would be a joke trying to play at 48 or 50, but there are quite a few lousy running backs in the league who he wouldn't look all that bad againstby comparison.Edited by: Don Wassall

The Jim Brown vs Franco Harris event took place in January 1985 when Harris was 34 and Brown was a month shy of his 49th birthday. It was the ultimate TrashSport, but was unique, according to the 1989 book, The Pro Football Chronicle.

Brown and Harris competed in four events over two days-racquetball, one-on-one basketball and football and the 40-yard dash.

Brown weighed 229, about his playing weight. Good for almost 49. Harris weighed 228.

Brown easily won at racquetball, but the basketball games were brutal. Brown and Harris almost got into a fight. Brown won the basketball competition two games out of three. In the third game, Brown trailed 20-14 when he called a timeout and sat down on the bench. Four kids at the elementary school where the event was held toweled him off.

Brown rose and scored the last eight points to win 22-20. The crowd went wild.

The football competion was somewhat ridiculous. Each man ran four pass patterns against the other on a 12 foot wide carpet. Phil Simms did the throwing. Brown pulled a tendon but kept going. Harris narrowly won the football event.

Brown's leg was bothering him, but he decided to give it a go in the 40-yard dash and even took an early lead, but pulled up just as Harris passed him. Harris' time was 5.16 seconds.

It had been decided that the winner of the 40 yard dash would be the overall winner, so Harris was declared the victor.

Looking at Walker now, I think he could be better than he was in his last football years, when he just didn't perform very well (he ran kind of "gun-shy", and maybe this had something to do with the situation in Minnesota maybe messing up his psyche). He supposedly can still run a 4.4 40, and I can believe it. I'm not sure what position he would play; he looks too thin to be a running back, but maybe he could do something on special teams. DixieD notes about the wear and tear on the joints vs. speed and agility -- and I do agree with this ordinarily. But Walker does not really even look old around the skin of the eyes. Really, quite remarkable.

If you take some PED's you certainly will be in that kind of shape. Same thing goes for Evander Holyfield.

Yeah guys. It's so obvious. Remember Lyle Alzado. He looked like that in his 40's as well. He tried to make a comeback to the NFL. The guy was juiced to the gills just like I'm sure Walker is. These guys also use alot of botox and plastic surgery to stay looking young. I'm not drinking the koolaid. I don't buy it. Everyone gets old and you can only fight father time for so long. Eventualy even the plastic surgeons can't help you.

Walker wins a couple of MMA fights against cans and he thinks he can play football again? Ok..

Re: his 'weird diet;' he claims to eat one meal a day of soup and salad. You can't eat that and maintain that kind of physique, regardless of your genetics.

He himself has admitted that he suffers from multiple-personality disorder, so you can't really believe anything he says anyway.

The only way he can maintain that build on 'eating a meal of soup and salad' is to supplement it with drinking 5 high protein drinks a day.

definitely what Westside said... no soup would sustain him, even if it's loaded with chicken, same goes for a salad. 4 to 5 protein drinks a day. and that's if he's clean.
