The O-Line played a very good game. Mallett had plenty of time to get his throws off.
That loss is all on Petrino for his continued stubborn usage of Broderick Green as the team's tailback. If you're just going to throw away 15-20 snaps per game on the slowest running back that ever strapped on a helmet, you're going to keep losing games.

The media is OBSESSED with the WAY-OVERRATED "6-foot-6" Cam Newton.
I will often use the refs to show that these affletes aren't "larger than life" - and guess what - Newton isn't much taller than the elderly refs! He doesn't look like a "thoroughbred" at all.

South Dakota State (18 White starters) is giving Nebraska their best battle yet this year. Neb up only 17-3 in the 4th Qtr.
Jackrabbit RB Kyle Minett has 25 carries for 104 yards so far for the Jackrabbits. SDSU has the ball in Neb territory.

Great article on Robbie Frey! As we already know, white players always have to go above and beyond to pass any quota black in front of them on the depth chart. If Todman jumps to the NFL after this year- like I'm hoping- Frey should be the #1 next year as a senior!

For Robbie Frey, it was a week of opportunity, but also uncertainty.
He wasn't on the injury report but wasn't 100 percent, either, nursing general soreness. Coach Randy Edsall elected to start D.J. Shoemate at tailback in place of the injured Jordan Todman and the plan was for Frey to play special teams.
Of course, plans are often fluid. Things can change, like the outlook for the rest of a season after an eye-catching performance.
"Now we know Robbie's our No. 2," Edsall said after Frey rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries Saturday in UConn's 45-21 victory over Buffalo. That means Frey is UConn's primary running back until Todman returns.
"Everyone looks at it the same," said Frey, whose 9-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave the Huskies a 31-21 lead. "You try to get on the field and do the best you can. Of course I want to be a running back, and I want to get as many carries as I can and play. But if I have to play special teams, or whatever the position is, I'm going to play to the best of my ability. With that kind of mind-set, when you have good football players like that, you're going to win games."
Todman's absence could have been a glaring one. But the Huskies, after a stale first half, showed they are in a class above Buffalo across the field, and the combination of Frey and Shoemate was serviceable if not overwhelming. Each fumbled and each scored a touchdown. Shoemate had 61 yards on 16 carries.
"It was very exciting to be able to step up when the team needed us," Shoemate said. "Robbie and I were very comfortable with the performances we came up with. Every time you have an opportunity to play more, that's a dream come true. That's one of the reasons I came here [from Southern Cal]. I want to get the opportunity to play."

Every year it seems lower division teams (I-AA,II) upset D-I teams. Big D-I teams too. Yesterday I was curious how the nearly all white South Dakota State would do againt the #2 powerhouse of Nebraska. SDSU is actually having a down year with an 0-2 start. I noticed in pre-game that the so-called experts (and I understand Nebraska staff) looked at game film of SDSU and ridiculed how "slow" (read white) they were. They seriously thought that SDSU and their white running backs wouldn't have a single positive yardage play and the score would be 35-0 by halftime.
Well, the Nebraska did win, but the final score was 17-3 and the game was much closer than that. The white RB for SDSU, Kyle Minnet, ran for over 100 yards and was the games leading rusher. SDSU controlled the clock and ran more plays. Nebraska was saved by a goal-line stand and a couple of interceptions deep in their territory. The myth that we are watching the best players and best teams every Saturday and Sunday that could possibly be produced is exposed nearly every time these small white schools take on giants.

Plus, early in the 4th Qtr, SDSU intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown, only to be called back for a block in the back. That would've made it 17-10. I could hear from the sound of the crowd that they were in shock at that moment, but were "saved by the bell" on that penalty.Kaptain Poop said:
