the top story this morning on Yahoo's NFL page: Raiders turn to Campbell for rescuing.

the tag line under the big photo: "QB Jason Campbell has endured his own past struggles. Still, he gives the Raiders hope of regaining much-needed credibility."

i won't bother quoting all the excuses given for why Campbell hasn't become "a star," but you know the drill. it's everyone's fault except his. like the whole "he's had to learn so many different systems" routine ... people ignore the fact that if he hadn't sucked so much so often then all ofhis coaches wouldn't havebeen fired. then maybe he wouldn't have a different coach every year.

i mean, you can't make this stuff up.

also, the column quotes Raiders wide receiver Chaz Schilens ... er, who? yep, with "exciting playmakers" like that guy, i can see why it's so hard for White receivers like Kevin Jurovich to make a roster.

Campbell won't be much better than Russell in Oakland. It will be interesting to see if afflete Heyward-Bey is still a starter. He did almost nothing last year and has a whopping 9 catches in 11 starts. That has to be some sort of record for a wide receiver with that many starts. It equals less than one catch per game! So much for his speed and potential.

Looking at their wide receivers it looks terrible. They do have a white receiver, Nick Miller, currently on the roster. How about picking up Jurovich since all your receivers suck? Nah!

John Madsen was forced to beef up and play tight end a few seasons ago. He could still be better than any of the receivers the Raiders have. Al Davis is one of the die-hards who won't give Whites a chance at any of the "black" positions.

It's surprising Nick Miller is still on the roster. Any white practice squad receiver in the entire NFL could take the starting job that Heyward-Bey had and catch more than 9 balls in a season. In fact they would do much better even with Russell as the quarterback.

Here is a nice article on Bruce Gradkowski. If things in pro sports were fair, and we caste footballers know that they aren't, Bruce would be starting for the Raiduhs rather than the 4-years-of-excuses affirmative-action project Jason Campbell. I just wonder how many losses and poor performances by the afflete it will take before Gradkowski takes over again.

I also noted at the bottom of the article that the Raiduhs are running low on healthy WR's. What are the chances that Al Davis calls up Mike Hass?

The Raiders signed Colt Brennan yesterday and are looking to get him on the field in time for this Thursday's first pre-season game. Looking at the Raiders QB's, Colt probably landed in one of the best situations possible. I personally don't think that Tom Cable is particularly enamored with Jason Campbell. Brennan could catch on as the number 3 if he does well.

Campbell is among the best black quarterbacks in the NFL and the truth is that Gradkowski is better. Gradkowski is an average white quarterback. That shows the depth of the affletes at this position.

Darrius Heyward-Bey has "fatigue"... Maybe he's having trouble comprehending the large playbook?

Heyward-Bey to need more time? : When the Raiders return to practice Tuesday, Oakland WR Darrius Heyward-Bey will have had seven days off for what he and coach Tom Cable are calling "fatigue."Â￾ Both are downplaying his absence, but it could be telling if Heyward-Bey is still out or limited Tuesday.

After his horrendous rookie season, which may be an all-time worst for a full time starter, I notice he will probably start this season as well. The NFL works in funny ways.

Caste Football Looks at the 2010 Oakland Raiders</font>

The powerhouse Raider teams in the 1970s had many great white players, back when the NFL was actually diverse. Since the NFL has become coal black, Al Davis can't seem to remember the Fred Biletnikoffs, Phil Villapianos, Ted Hendricks, Howie Longs, Pete Banaszaks, Ken Stablers, or Jim Plunketts of those teams. Judging by the talent level the Raiders have had for years now, I seriously doubt he remembers the Cliff Branches, Marcus Allens, or Jack Tatums either. Judging by the first game of the season, Raiders fans can look forward to another losing year. The Raiders of 2010 are around the league average of white players, with sixteen whites on the roster this year, with 5 of those players starting. After you take away the punter, kicker, and long snapper, that leaves 8 white backups on the roster.

Bruce Gradkowski is another one of those white quarterbacks who's been thrown around the league since he's been drafted. He has decent arm strength, and is fairly mobile, but since he didn't play perfect every start, and his name isn't Brees, Manning, or Brady, he was yanked from his starting jobs, which were for some bad teams, like the Bucs and Browns. The much maligned Kyle Boller, formerly of the Ravens, is the third string QB.

TE Zach Miller is far and away the Raiders' best reciever. Miller can actually catch a pass thrown to him, something the recievers on the team don't know how to do. He should see more targets with Jason Campbell at QB, due to Campbell's inabilty to throw a deep ball. Brandon Myers, out of Iowa, is the second string at tight end. Speedy WR Nick Miller somehow made the Raiders roster again this year, but his chances of actually seeing a pass thrown to him, or even getting playing time, are about as good as yours or mine. Should an injury occur to one of the Raiders' real recievers, Nick Miller would be about the fifth or sixth option to replace him.

Jared Veldheer, a rookie out of tiny Hillsdale college, is the starting center for the Raiders. He is a mammoth at 6-8, 315 pounds, and could be a great pick for Oakland. Veldheer has tremendous strength, and hopefully, should be a mainstay on the Raiders' line for years. Veteran Robert Gallery, an Iowa grad, is the starting left guard. Cooper Carlisle, now in his eleventh year out of Florida, holds down the starting right guard spot. The two white backups on the line are Daniel Loper, out of Texas Tech, and Colorado State product Erik Pears. Jon Condo is used strictly as a long snapper.

The Raiders defense is nearly barren of white players, but talented DE/OLB Trevor Scott still starts at DE for the Raiders. A steal out of Buffalo, Scott has accumulated 12 sacks in his first two seasons, despite only starting six games in that time, and tied for the rookie lead for sacks with 5 in 2008. Scott is a dynamic pass rusher who doesn't really get much name recognition anywhere, probably due to his lack of melanin.

Ricky Brown was a rare white success story in the NFL, going undrafted out of Boston College, and eventually starting a few games for the Raiders. The Raiders, however, could not let this go on for any longer, and drafted Rolando McClain in the first round of this year's draft to replace him immediately. Brown is now relagated to a backup role. Undrafted rookie Travis Goethel out of Arizona State made the team as a third string middle linebacker/white special teams demon.
12 of the team's 19 coaches are white.

NUMBER OF WHITE STARTERS: 5

NUMBER OF WHITE PLAYERS ON THE 53 MAN ROSTER: 16

GRADE: D-

Nice writeup Jack!! The Raiders are pathetic. 16 total whites on the team gives them a 30% white team. Did you include kickers and the long snapper in that 16?

Thanks. I included the kickers and long snappers in my write ups as well. That's why these numbers get a little bloated.

Here is another masterpiece from Rotoworld:

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Raiders will start Bruce Gradkowski in Week 3 against Arizona.
<div ="s_pNewsTextMain">
Gradkowski won't have a long leash ("coach" Al Davis is a Campbell
backer), but he's worth grabbing in two-QB leagues and as a low-end QB2
in standard settings. Despite limited talent, Gradkowski has mastered
the Oakland offensive system and has given the Raiders their best chance
to move the ball. His insertion is also good news for Louis Murphy and
Zach Miller. Gradkowski gets a favorable Week 3 matchup against a
Cardinals defense that allowed three Matt Ryan touchdowns last Sunday.
</div><div>Source: Jason La Canfora on Twitter

Al Davis is obviously in love with afflete Gayson Scambull. In regards to Gradkowski I thought the NFL loves fast(4.62 40) and accurate quarterbacks.

...and he has "limited talent" which must mean that Campbell doesn't have any.

Ive been a huge fan of Gradkowski since he was at Toledo. I remember hearing a story about how the Steelers promised they would draft him but instead drafted the predator clone Omar Jacobs who fizzled out of the league really fast.

The world must be coming to an end. Check this out from Rotoworld:

Jason Campbell has been benched by the Raiders in favor of Bruce Gradkowski.
<div ="s_pNewsTextMain">
Campbell's benching appears to be permanent (he's completely healthy),
so he can be dropped in all leagues. Producing just a 1:2 TD-to-INT
ratio with one fumble lost and a measly 5.1 YPA average in two starts,
Campbell doesn't appear to fit new OC Hue Jackson's West Coast-style
system as well as the more mobile Gradkowski. Campbell will probably
see action later in the season, but the Raiders' heavily-praised to
decision to acquire him in April hasn't come close to paying off. He is
signed through the 2011 season.
</div>
Did Rotoworld just state that Gradkowski is more mobile and athletic than Campbell?? How can that be possible??

It seems to me that coach Tom cable relly wants to win by starting Gradkowski over Campbell. I know that Al davis is not happy because he loves his black quarterbacks however Cable is taking a big risk by not playing Campbell. I admire Cable because he has enogh kahonas to start the best player despite what the owner wants or thinks. Gradkowski will be on a short leash I hope he shines on Sunday so that this contreversy can end once and for all.

I think Gradkowski will be given a good opportunity to showcase his skills. Even if he struggles a few games he probably won't be benched. The Raiders have a much better chance of winning games with Gradkowski running the offense but like you said Al Davis has a crush on Gayson Skambull.

No! Gradowski won't even have a HALF to prove himself. He better get it going quickly or it's back to the bench and move over for the black quarterback.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Quarterback is probably the only position left were white players definitely have an edge. There are too many talented ones right now that are extremely efficient.

It goes back to 99 when Smith, Culpepper, and and McNabb were drafted and the media expected blacks to dominate the position. It never happened.

This is also positive news for TE Zach Miller who is the Raiders best reciever. His production will increase with Gradowski at QB. Miller's career stats are brilliant despite spending it at a piss poor organisation and was Duhmarcus Russells only reliable reciever. Zach Miller is still only 24! He definatly has a shot at making a pro bowl or two in his career.

On a side note, I hope Nick Miller gets a chance at some point this year. He is a Wes Welker in the making but with more speed. I notice he is from Arizona as is Zach Miller, I'm sure they must be good mates, which helps when your locker room is full or brainless thugs!
