Sorry, I'm just very suspicious of the Jamaicans, but I hear you on trying to keep a positive tone to this thread. I don't go accuse or trash the achievements/skills of most of the top black 100 meter sprinters though. I think that is making an unfair assumption without evidence.

However, Jamaica has a history of this stuff. Lifestyle drugs are part of the culture and it is only the IAAF that is trying to crack down there with PED tests in Jamaica and it isn't even CLOSE to good enough. Jamaica doesn't do much of anything on their own compared to countries in Europe and what the U.S has begun to do, they only do what they are required to do- and that's it- as far as I've read from WL and others.

The U.S and many Euro countries have similar awesome anti- PED programs where they can back check refrigerated viles of blood or urine (taken randomly once a month I believe) years later if new evidence becomes available and take away all records and medals from that year.

ZELLGADISS, I won't harp on this any more and will simply keep it positive about Christophe, he is an AMAZING talent. I enjoy the positive posts in this thread more than the negative.

For me is better talk about Lemaitre and his success, his improvement, his races.
To talk about PEDS, i dont feel better by it.
If exists PEDS i wait that IAAF find it and who is taking PEDS is banned.

By the other hand, i think that we should not lose our time talking about PEDS and yes talking about Lemaitre.
In this moment his reaction time and his first 30m are very bad. Is in this point where he could improve so much in the next 2 years and get 9.85-9.90.
And if he get a few more strenght, power in several years i think that in the future 9.80 is a possible target.

Regards to you as well ZELLGADISS. It's just sometimes negative things do come up that are on topic, for instance the recent stuff about how the KKK is trying to use Lemaitre as a white supremacist tool. Good that he smartly declined their invitation. My comment was a little off topic though, but I just hope that the 2012 Olympics will be a positive and legit competition based on natural talent for all in the 100 meters.

Of course ToughJ.Riggins
always can exist doubts about some runners or their times, but here we should talk about Lemaitre and not about it.
I think that Lemaitre has chance get bronze medal in London 2012. The last year AP gets bronze 9.84. In my opinion the next year is time very very hard for Lemaitre, but in 2012 i think that if he train hard he can get about 9.85 and i see rare that somebody can down 9.85 if is not UB and TG.
For Lemaitre get final in Daegu 2011 would be incredible, and i bet by it

I predict that Lemaitre will make a similar progression in speed as has Nesta Carter (10.69 at age 19 - 9.78 at age 24), and so when Christophe is 24 he will run the 100 meters in 10.04 - .91 = 9.13 seconds.

Actually, since Lemaitre is not from a sprinting culture, maybe his improvement will be even larger.

There seems to be something flawed in this argument.

Observer, Carter with almost same age Lemaitre now(Lemaitre 20 years 2 months, Carter 20 years 6 months):Lemaitre 9.97 Carter 10.20. I dont see then that BIG difference that you want show
Lemaitre is a great talent, PERHAPS(i dont know it totally)Carter had train harder in the last years.
Is a theory, and not only talk about PEDS.
I respect to all runners, if they make some bad, they have to be banned of course.
Lemaitre has get sub10 easily the next year if he want to be in the elite.

That's quite an optimistic prediction there, Observer.

Seriously though, the fact that nobody questions what these Ja-take-ems are doing is ridiculous! World records don't improve by leaps and bounds without something weird going on.

9.13?

I seriously doubt ANY sprinter, especially a clean one will ever get below a 9.50 in the 100. Even using PEDS I doubt anybody ever runs a sub 9.50 100. If CL was using the same training methods as Bolt I truly believe he could possibly beat Bolt in 2012 and challenge his WR run.

Lemaitre is VERY talented and amongst the most elite for sure, but let's not anoint him as the best roid free sprinter ever yet, he still has much to prove. No evidence has come out yet about Gay being on roids. I'm sure Gay could get away with most stimulants or HGH unless he was very unlucky, but then again ANY sprinters could. Plus HGH isn't nearly as helpful as roids to get you to run a 9.69.

If we believe that Lemaitre could hit 9.80 in a couple years clean, whose to say that it is impossible for another man (Gay) who is likely clean of roids to have a ceiling on his bestest of runs of a high 9.6x. I agree with ZELLGADISS, no need to make assumptions about Gay without evidence. The Jatakems (good one Colonel) seem very suspect though, although still not a smoking gun. Even if Bolt is running clean in 2012, how do we know Lemaitre will be on equal footing with him. If Lemaitre runs multiple sub 9.9s next season- than I'll really start thinking medal for London!

I find myself wondering how long Bolt will do the 100 until he becomes bored with it. If he thinks he's unlikely to better his WR he may concentrate on the 400.
That, plus the number of keen young Jamaicans always there to take you down.

I think Lemaitre just has to keep working on his deficiencies and simply maintain that top speed of his. I'm sure low 9.80s is on the cards for him.
Even 9.86 would make him top European of all time and knock Christie off his perch.
He's already equalling Chambers for second and another sub 10 will put him ahead. He's past Gardener

Linford's top 10 average runs is 9.954 secs with only one in the 9.8s, a 9.87 at Stuttgart and 8 other times under 10. I am going to sit and watch Lemaitre take his record down to become the best ever European because -
1. I think that is achievable, and while not up with the very top Americans and Jamaicans it still has plenty of cred about it.
2. because he typifies "European" and is not a blow in from somewhere else which is becoming commonplace these days
3. because I have a short attention span and I think he can do this inside 2-3 yearsEdited by: mastermulti

i dont think that UB or TG are in PEDS, of course im not god and i dont know it 100% but is my opinion. I must in AP too, the other runners i can not be sure.
But i like think that we are watching clean races, and if is not it then IAAF have to ban these runners.
I think that the progression of Lemaitre should to be around 9.90 the next year and 9.85 in 2012.
If he can down more it, would be incredible.
The target of Lemaitre is final Daegu 2011 and to try medal in 2012 London.
In first place he has improve his awful start, his first 30m, his horrible reaction time.
I dont know how was 60m in his 9.97(although here he had possitive wind and altitude Rieti 400m,it is good advantage)but in his 9.98 was 6.55, it is very bad.
The most runners that run about 9.98 , in the line 60m they are about 6.45-6.50.
And his reaction time is usually about 0.180-0.200 and he should try to be 0.150-0.160

In second place he has to run usually in sub10s easily, i think that if he train hard and well he will get it.Edited by: ZELLGADISS

As for predictions for next year. I will say it again. This kid goes in the high 9.80's next year. You guys can hold me to that prediction. I still see him having one more huge jump in progression because of his horrible starts, average form at best, and lack of strength in both his uppper & lower body. The kid can easily take a tenth off his time if he fixes all three of these problems. That is a big task for both Christophe and his coach but this kid is special. We cannot compare Lemaitre to any other european sprinter that we have ever seen. He was born to run period. I will say though that his will to win reminds me of Wells and Borzov!

Christophe will be running in the Continental Cup this weekend in the 100 meters. It's been an incredibly long season and the kid is exhausted. He is down to his last 2 races of the year. I'm still hoping that he can some how get his p.b. down to the 9.95 that I predicted many months ago. Maybe even a tad faster but it would take the perfect start and ideal conditions. It's possible though and we will just have to wait and see.

It's time for PepeLeFlew to end the season with another eye popping performance. They don't call him "The Master" for nothing. He has earned that nickname as well as the most fitting name which of course has to be "White Lightning". Edited by: white lightning

For whoever asked, here's the link:

As for Zellgaddis, not sure why you're trying to shortchange LeMaitre (although 99% of your posts have been to defend Jamaicans), but virtually no one considers Rieti an especially fast track for sprinters. It is renowned only as fast for mid-distances because the wind blows down the homestretch but is blocked on the backstretch. In a sprint, the wind is measured. Christophe's sub-10's were all wind-legal. Virtually no outdoor race is ever run in completely windless conditions. So what? Do you remember the wind gauge on any of Bolt's runs? Gays? Powells? Do you remember what the track was like for any of their times? As long as the race is wind legal, it's legit. Why do you endlessly defend Jamaican steroid use but then pretend LeMaitre's times don't really count and say that he really is only good for running in the 10-10.05 range?

Nice job by Christophe today, defeating the representatives of Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

trackster i give my OPINION, and i am not defending jamaicans or nobody in my post.
I tell in my OPINION, that Lemaitre IN THIS MOMENT for me is 10-10.05.
Because Lemaitre had his better shape just before European Championship and in the European Championship, i think that now he is a few under his better shape OK.

And yes for me Rieti is very fast track in 100m too.
AP has several 9.7 there and record world, Carter improved since 9.85 to 9.78, Ryan Bailey improved 9.95 to 9.88(he only ran that 9.95 sub10 before), and Lemaitre after 1 month holydays he did 10.20 and few days after 9.98 and 9.97?

Im great fan of Lemaitre, but im not BLIND.
Lemaitre is a great talent, but i think that now he is 95% not 100% like 1 month ago.
Thetimes in Rieti are TRUE, you can see them

trackster if Lemaitre is 100% in this moment is 9.95-10.00 for me.
And you should read ALL my post and in the most i talk about Lemaitre and when i talk about defend jamaicans is ONLY when somebody talk about PEDS about them, you can see it when you want. I dont know why many people here only enter for talk about PEDS, it is stupid.
We are here for talk about the master Lemaitre and his progression.
Nex year 9.90-9.95 i bet for Lemaitre

The thing people need to remember about Christophe is that he just wins races. He will usually run just fast enough to win. The bigger the meet the better he runs. He reminds me of Borzov and Wells in how he deals with pressure. He was mentally and physically sharp today. He finally got a good start. Is he 100%? Not at this point of the season as he is very tired but the guy is just a stud. He gets it done. The most exciting young sprinter on early in my opinion due to the fact that he is so raw. I keep dreaming about how great he might become if they can fix some things over the next several years. If they think he is scary to race against now, just wait till 2012 and beyond! Someone has posted a video (Japanese or something) of today's race:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DC67FwizNE
If you're looking for a great start, though, you won't find it. He finally improved his reaction time, but still is the least explosive out of the blocks. I, for one, can't wait to see what he can do once he gets strong enough to blast out. He runs down the field in this race. As usual.

I haven't seen a video of the Wariner race yet, but that time was sweet, so I'm sure it's good.
