As crazy as this may sound, this may be a good thing. Winning almost every race can make a sprinter over confident. It can also sometimes lead to a lack of fitness. He looked fit but he did clearly stumble. What suprised me though was that he could not close the gap on Mike Rogers. That tells me his top speed was a little less than desired. Usually he can run down anyone except for the big three. This will make him hungry to finish the season on a good note. He still has several races left so all is not lost. I expect a very good time from him in the next race.

I've read somewhere that if a jogger stop running 3 weeks, he needs 2 months of training to get back to his initial level.
I wonder how we can tranfer this to sprint ? How long does it take to get back to his initial level after 2 weeks off?

here is an interesting interview of Mr CArraz , his coach, for next year season

he is a respected coach, even if he never left the champion, the
mentor of triple European champion Peter Carraz, sees its future with
optimism.

</span>LE FIGARO. </span>- Why have refused to participate in large meetings Christophe end of season, such as Zurich or Brussels?

</span>Peter CARRAZ. </span>- I do not want it rubs the best, because it is capable of tearing the muscles to follow. </span>It
will run in Villeneuve d'Ascq Tuesday night at Rieti, where he wants to
do a time on the 28th, then finally, DeÄÂÂ￾ani Annecy September 11.

</span></span></span>LE FIGARO </span></span>Did you fear he will hurt himself?

</span></span></span>
</span>Peter CARRAZ. </span></span>It manages to avoid the problems, but we must be careful because it often has minor injuries. </span>I watch from the cadets, from a competition where he was wounded but he did not say anything because he wanted to run. </span>That said, I am aware that there will inevitably damage at one time or another ...

</span>Is that his training is still going to intensify?

</span></span></span>
</span>Peter CARRAZ. </span></span>Yes. </span>He will do some more sessions. </span>And also a bit more weight. </span>But an intelligent fitness. </span>He will not lift enormous weights.

</span></span></span>LE FIGARO </span></span>Is the 100 meters or 200 meters that will ultimately best be expressed?

</span></span></span>
</span>Peter CARRAZ. </span></span>He prefers the 100m, but it has more potential of 200 m. </span>It is already between 20 and 19''80''. </span>At 100m, it will grow in power and it will be better in the first 40 meters of the race. </span>Next year, it must 9''90, otherwise it crashed. </span>The goal for the London Games in 2012, is to be among the top five world where there will already Bolt and Gay. </span>After everything is possible ...

</span></span></span>LE FIGARO </span></span>You're 70 years is a consecration late for a coach. </span>Did you immediately realize that you were dropped on a nugget with Christophe Lemaitre?

</span></span></span>
</span>Peter CARRAZ. </span></span>At the club, we quickly realized we were dealing with a phenomenon. </span>When you come across someone like him, you have no right to miss, even at the expense of others. </span>So far, I do not favor, but I'll do a bit now.

</span></span></span>LE FIGARO </span></span>His mind impresses ...

</span></span></span>
</span>Peter CARRAZ. </span></span>He looks well made that side. </span>He always beat his record in major competitions.

</span></span></span>LE FIGARO </span></span>Do you worry that his sudden fame 20 years is difficult to manage?

</span></span></span>
</span>Peter CARRAZ. </span></span>If he takes the big head, he immediately deflated with the people at the club.</span></span>

I think that Lemaitre had slow race because he had almost 1 month "holyday" hehe.
Is logical after get 3 gold in european championship, he would want rest a few.
Now he will get better shape in the next races sure, so i would love that if he gets good wind and better coordination for the start, he can get other sub10

I think that with sprinting, a little time off will help make a good time because the endurance-type muscles (which are almost inevitably developed during intensive training), will convert to become more anaerobic and fast-twitch. However, this is a temporary speed boost because the overall fitness has declined. So, my guess is that it would also be about 2 months to regain the initial level of fitness, just like for a jogger.

Hello everyone,
an interview just before his race at Lille, (in which he explains that he had only 5-6 light sessions and 1 intensive before going to lille), also speaking about his next calendar and next chronometric target:
http://translate.google.fr/translate?js=y&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=fr&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;layout=1&amp;eotf=1&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lequipe.fr%2FAthletisme%2Fbreves2010%2F20100823_212003_lemaitre-m-amuser.html&amp;sl=auto&amp;tl=en&amp;act=url

a few words, just after the race at Lille:

Triple gold medalist in Catalonia, Christophe Lemaitre did not impose this time. Aligned with the 100m, he was beaten (10''20) a breath by American Mike Rodgers (10''17) by performing a mediocre race. «. "I'm very disappointed, especially by the way I lost," said the Frenchman who came from six days of vacation. . I struggled at the beginning. It was bad. I tried to use me to the end and I tried to stay in contact. "Martial Mbandjock finished third with a time of 10''23.

it's just a warm-up race, not a big deal..

as of now I'd like to see Christophe not saying he was disappointed after a race. If that really reflects what he feels then it is going to burn him out.
Must learn to be cool under defeat, to mentally shrug and get going again.
For the next two years after his 10.03 Shirvington used to agonise over "bad" races ....... not cool, nor good for his long term goals

in fact I didn't translate all the page because it wasn't just about him but a general article, but in which he explains that his foot hit his calf at the beginning so he couldn't do the race "normally" as he wished.

LeMaitre runs again today in Rieti. Let's hope he's gotten back to work and is ready for business again. It's a top field and if he's still out of form, he'll get slaughtered. I actually think he's mentally shut down for the season after the Euro's. The sooner he gets into the weight room and starts preparing for next year, the better.

Awesome. Proves the 9.98 was no fluke. It's nearly impossible to find a story on the race; somebody needs to update his wiki page. Nesta Carter's new PB is already updated. Hmm, another Jamaican running a riduculous time.

He is truly amaizing. What a champion. He is a real winner in his mind. Even after all his achievemen this year, he found the strenght to carry on and beat his record.

3 sub10 runs this year so far. I can't wait for next season time !!

Go Christophe ! He prooved again, that sprint is not a matter of skin color.

Nesta Carter ties for fastest 100 of year
(AP) â€" 1 hour ago

RIETI, Italy â€" Jamaican sprinter Nesta Carter has run 9.78 seconds in the 100 meters at the Rieti Grand Prix, tying American Tyson Gay for the fastest time this year.

Helped by a tail wind of 0.9, Carter used a strong finishing kick to lead an extremely fast field Sunday, with seven of the eight entrants clocking 10 seconds or under.

Ryan Bailey of the United States was the runner-up in a personal best 9.88, Mario Forsythe of Jamaica finished third in a personal best 9.95, and Christophe Lemaitre of France crossed fourth in a national record 9.97.

Gay ran 9.78 into a headwind on a wet track in London earlier this month.

Usain Bolt, who holds the world record of 9.58, and Asafa Powell, who set a then-world record of 9.74 in Rieti three years ago, are both out injured.

Wow what do they have in the Jamaican water.....
smiley36.gif
A relative scrub like Mario Forsythe does a 9.95. When one of the Jamaican superstars gets caught or ratted on this circus act is going to be sad chapter in track history. Nice to see Lemaitre do two rounds of a sub 10. It shows that his consistency is still there late in the season.

Nothing but steroids in the Jamaican water. But LeMaitre is running clean, and those are excellent times!! Not only did he break 10 twice in the same day, but he also beat Mike Rodgers twice in the same day. In his heat he also beat Mario Forsythe (Jamaica), Daniel Bailey, and Lerone Clark. LeMaitre is the real deal.

Can't wait to see a video posted of this race! Anybody find one yet?

Yeah, that was a terrible start!

The sudden performance jumps in the Jamaicans are definitely indicative of steroids.

Christophe's gradual improvement is indicative of natural training.

It is what it is. It's just like Flojo and Ben Johnson.

Christophe was amazing today. I won't even get started on the Jamaicans. Not even worth wasting my breath. At least not in this thread. I don't know what has happened to Lemaitre as far as getting out of the blocks compared to the indoor season. The fact that he can run two sub 10's in the same day with lack luster starts is amazing. To beat the best however, he will have to get this fixed going into the next several years. The upside for this kid though is amazing when all is said and done. I predicted a 9.95 this year and he still may get it but 9.97 is damn good! Running 2 sub 10's in a few hours is incredible. Simply the best white sprinter ever over 100 meters. He just is competing in the chemically induced world of track and field. He will have to get better.

The naysayers can say what they want. They will not be able to stop this kid for long. Let the other guys get the spotlite for now. London and beyond will be the time for Lemaitre to shine!

white lightning when he gets a good time reaction he can improve 0.04-.0.05.I think the he can get it in 2011-2012 and the next year 9.90-9.95 is a very good target for him.
Good luck Lemaitre¡¡¡¡

icsept in some post looks MORE important talking about STEROIDS that about the great perfomance of Lemaitre.
Is better to be happy by the success of Lemaitre that to be talking about steroids again, again and again...
