ZELLGADISS: We know you love Bolt. So, take it to the "Is Bolt on Drugs?" thread. Otherwise, you can go slobber over him with your buddies at ESPN.com.

The point is that everyone is guilty of hijacking this thread. Again there is a thread for Bolt. All of us need to discuss him over there. I will delete posts if we keep going off topic. Let's keep this thread focused on discussing Christophe and his many accomplishments in his young career. The guy is a legend already and he is only 20 years of age.

If they can add some strength in the off season, work on his drive phase and fix his form, the times will drop like Niagara Falls. He simply has that much talent and the top end speed is off the charts. He will run much faster once they fix some of his flaws. I am so anxious to see what he can do by the 2012 Summer Olympics in London!Edited by: white lightning

I hope that in Brussels he get another sub10 and with luck and a better start that he make usually, i think that he can down 9.98.

Good luck Lemaitre¡¡¡

The Great White Hope, as they call it the guru of athletics, is a French boy of 20 years when it excites tartaglia. It's called Christophe Lemaitre and is the first European athlete to have centered the hat-trick of gold: 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 x 100. It happened to recent Continental Championships in Barcelona.
Despite the worst reaction time among all the finalists of the 100 meters, the sprinter of Aix les Bains ended in 10 ' 11 (with contrary wind), ahead of seven cents four black cabinets with two shutters, as Lewis-Francis Obikwelu Mbandjock, and Chambers. There was the long-awaited head-to-head between Lemaitre and Chambers, the pure white against the pitch black, the former overdone acciughina against doping, the imberbe against the tattooed. So much so.
The "lightning Bleu", as he titrated L'Equipe, gave bis on 200, with an amazing comeback in 50 metres final and arrival at the photo finish on British Malcolm (Silver for only a penny) before tris in teams, on Italy. But Christophe Lemaitre is also the first black athlete to crumble the wall of 10 seconds (9 ' ' 98, 9 July in Valence), two cents less of Polish Woronin in 1984.
After the President of America coloured, lacked only the muzzle pale sample of sprint. And has already taken the challenge from a distance with the recordman Bolt employing 4 tenths and two steps (41 instead of 43) in less than Lemaitre to complete the distance. For now, the Jamaican is another pasta, but the talented Christophe has great scope for improvement. The sponsors if they contend, while France was consoling with "master" his disappointment Mundial.
«Only a year ago it would not even imagine it», revealed Lemaitre after his escape to victory. Up to 16 years played basketball and rugby, then the father convinced him to participate in a trial about 50 meters et voilà: in 2008 gold medal at the IAAF about 200 metres, in 2009 the same metal about 100. But in 2010 that Christophe becomes great. XX-large. Edited by: white lightning

Does LeMaitre get any kind of prize money for running sub-10? I thought that at one time, one of the shoe companies had a million dollars for the first Caucasian to do it.

For his three gold medals at the Euro champ, he got 22 500€ (10000€ for 100 m &amp; 200m, and 10000/4=2500€ for the four runner of 4x100m . for information: it's 5000€ for silver and 3000€ for bronze) from the french athletic federation.
There is no information regarding his sponsor revenue (Asics).

That really isn't much money for such a talented kid, and such an accomplishment.

He might be more "Bankable" in the future, and get more money to go main meeting like the diamond ligue. Usain B. (I don't write his name in order to stay "in-topic" ;-))) is supposed to get 250000$ to run in a meeting.

LoLy you have reason, but is that in general in the athletics the people get few money,is the "poor sport", not like football by example.

Yes U.S. get about 250.000 by meeting,T.G i think that 100.000 or few more and A.P. a fewless i remember.
Lemaitre for get this "cache" he has that get more reputation, yes he started very well, first sub10 and 3 golds in european championship, now only he has get a few international reputation(out of Europe).
If he continue his progression i think that his "cache" in 2 years can to be easy +100.000 $

OFF topic, yes, but it doesn't stop people like bk21 from saying stoopid things re Bolt.... so here's an answer!

obvious to a blind man Bolt was below par. Why question an obvious injury? Happens to everyone sooner or later

ON TOPIC; when is Christophe running or is he recuperating?Edited by: mastermulti

Swede all people that understand atletics know that in altitude your marks are a lot better.
<div>Mennea had advantage about 0.3 by it.</div>
<div>So in my opinion his time for defeat by Lemaitre is 9.96 by Mennea in Sestriere without altitude.</div>
<div>Of course if Lemaitre run in altitude he would run faster too.</div>
<div>And sure Hines or Smith had advantage too , so his record had long time.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Is very curious that the records in Mexico live long time:</div>
<div>100m Hines: almost 15 years</div>
<div>200m Smith: almost 11 years</div>
<div>200m Mennea:almost 17 years</div>
<div>400m Evans: almost 20 years.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Really i think that the altitude is big advantage for the runner.</div>

Haha! I think they run really fast in Mexico City to get it over with and then hi-tail it down to the pulmonary ward in Mexico District Hospital to get some clean air into their lungsEdited by: mastermulti

mastermulti the advantage by run in altitude is so much.
You can see it in cientific studies , is the truth.
We told no more off topic(Bolt or another runners?.OK????

Lemaitre will run in Brusells 27 august, if he has wind possitive +1.0-+2.0 another sub10 or perhaps another record for Lemaitre is possible :)

As he run 10.06 with -1.2 in semi in Barcelona, I think he can run sub10 with 0 wind.

If I'm not wrong I think that 10.06 with -1.2, equal something around 9.94 with +1.2.

Yes LoLy but i have doubts that Lemaitre is in great shape same 1 month before.
You know that most runners get his better shape in the big competition(european championship by example)and usually after down a little his shape.
So im not sure that he down sub10 with 0 wind, but with +1.0 wind i think that im sure :)

waterbed i think that for Lemaitre his logical target in the next yearshould to be run between 9.90-9.95. With this time he could be in the final in the world championship in Daegu.

I have to disagree. The target for next year will be in the mid to high 9.80's range. They need to set their goals high so he will continue to work his ass off to obtain these goals. He is a beast of a sprinter. If he can get into the 9.80's next summer, then the increased will be minimal from there on out. I do think he can make one last significant decrease in his time. He is still young enough and very raw in every way.

Yes, of course white lightning Lemaitre has a big potential.
But only 1 year i think that is few time for improve his poor star and his tecnique.
If he run all year(2011) about 9.90-9.95 will be great.

In 2012 i think that he can to be in 9.85-9.90 range.

Perhaps you are a little optimistic and im a little conservative hehe.

Well like we can not know the future, only the time will tell his progression.

He definitly has 9.95 "in the legs".

Let see how he will manage this 3 gold medals, and this huge appeal from medias.

We know he is a true "winner spirit". Let's hope he will want to end the season with a new personnal record.

Personnaly, I think if he had time to rest and train correctly, with good wind condition, and good competitors (Martial Mbandjok, the other french sprinter with bronze medal, said he wants to beat his personnal record in Lille city, before end of august), he will run 9.92.

LoLy in my opinion 9.95 with good wind, +1.0 minimun and for 9.92 wind 2.0 or few less.
Sorry but im few optimistic.
With 0.0 wind Lemaitre in these moments is about 10.00-10.05 like i saw in all races this year.
Although ALL IS POSSIBLE, he could have "perfect race".
But i will be happy if he gets sub10 in Brusells.

Really? Well, his 10.06 into -1.2 wind in Barcelona is a 9.99 with zero wind. The season isn't even over yet either..

Yes DegradationParadox , if he run like in his 10.06 in half-finals in Barcelona, would be very fast, but Lemaitre trained for get his best shape in this championship.
So i have doubts like is his shape now 1 month later.

But i must in sub10
