In my lifetime Ive have never seen anyone score so many goals in one season (47 out of 49 games), but more importantly ive never seen anyone score so many amazing goals in one season....and that includes Maradona.

Ode to the best player of a generation and if he keeps it up the future greatest player ever: Messi - season 2009/2010

Never before have I seen anyone with such pin-point ball placement - often he simply passes the ball into the net - perfectly and precisly into the corner. Also his dribbling skills whilst running at high speed (and he runs FAST) is better than anything ive ever seen...ever.

what's so crazy about how unstoppable Messi is that everyone knows what he's going to do.

he's going to pressure the defense with his speed (usually down the right side of the pitch) until he gets them off balance, then he's going to cut back to his left to try and get to the center of the goal's face ... and then he's going to cut your heart out with his left foot.

it's inevitable with its predictability, yet it's almost unstoppable.

oh, he'll surprise you once in a while with a deftly-placed header off a cross, but he almost never goes to his right or shoots with his right foot (maybe 6 of his 47 goals were right-footed). but despite his one-footedness, no one can stop him. wow. just wow.

If he were an American football player, they'd make him into a WSTD...

But on a happier note: Wow, what an athlete, what a player!

Messi is an incredible talent. Here in the US, however, I'll bet that fewer than one in 500 even know who he is!! Ask most ignorant DWF's who the greatest soccer player ever is, and 95% will say "Pele", and the supermarket tabloid crowd will say "Beckham and Posh"!!

pele has to be the most overated player in the history of any sport.

He scored 1000 goals, so what, what league was that in, some crapy brazillian league emile heskey could bang em in.

Aso he was surrounded by incredible white players putting goals on a plate for him.

I rate george best higher tbh...
