Blacks despise Duke

I was curious how much blacks hated Duke. So I deliberately brought up Duke winning the NCAA BB championship at work. Not only did every black reply " I hate Duke" ,you could see the hostility in their faces.

Only one black at work, didn't show intense hostility when I mentioned Duke. He happened to be a 24 yo professional BB player. He said he had played in the D League (the Minor League for the NBA) on the Rio Grande Vipers until very recently. I decided to be provocative, by vaguely suggesting Jon Scheyer was better than John Wall. I prefaced this with "John Wall is much much better than Scheyer (which I don't believe). I pointed out Scheyer had better stats than Wall, led the national champions in scoring , assists, and steals, and had a much better game against West Virginia.

He asked me if I really thought Scheyer could play in the NBA . I answered by asking has there been a player who was the leading scorer on an NCAA championship team in the past 30 years who never played in the NBA. He actually said he didn't really think Wall was as good as he is made out to be. He described Wall as a "shoot first point guard". Since point guard is a position, that really requires a pass first guard, he admitted Scheyer made his teammates better while Wall didn't. He obviously knew BB.

Imagine if this situation was reversed. If the NBA was 80% white and the NCAA champion's top scorer was black but was dismissed by most sportswriters and other alleged experts as someone who could not play in the NBA using expressions such as "undraftable" , " his game doesn't translate to the NBA" etc. It would be considered blatantly racist.

But, of course, if it is a white who is being discriminated against, it's never considered racist.

When was the last time a white college basketball star wasn't considered suspect as NBA material by the jock sniffers and DWFs? When J.J. Reddick and Adam Morrison finished a close 1-2 in scoring a few years ago, it wasn't enough to silence the doubts about both of them, especially Reddick. We see how they've fared, especially Morrison, who is effectively being treated like he's a Brian Scalabrini now. If the "experts" can doubt Tyler Hansborough- perhaps the greatest college player of all time- then what white player will they not doubt?

Even Larry Bird dropped farther in the draft than he should have, and grave reservations about his ability to play in the NBA existed in the minds of the "journalists" of his era. The last white college star that I can remember being considered a truly great NBA prospect was Bill Walton. That obviously was a long time ago.

Clearly, Scheyer can play in the NBA. Will he be given a chance? Well, since no other white American player since Walton, that I can think of, entered the NBA without strong reservations about his abilities, the odds are against him. We all know one thing; if Scheyer was black, he'd be an unquestioned top 10 pick in the draft.

It seems to me that the NBA is less and less relevant.
NBA has talent but is still struggling. Kind of like just before Bird and
Magic entered the league.
Fans aren't fooled by flashy play and a lack of fundamentals anymore.
Right now college basketball is bigger than the NBA and Duke
is on top of the world. White teams and players had a great year.
Ok, so what if the Jon Scheyers and Kyle Singlers and Gordon Haywards of the world spend perhaps a little too
much time on NBA benches with only their courtside seats, millions of dollars in the bank, and their hot girlfriends
to console them? Is that so bad?

I really think that thismight bethe time to start a new pro basketball league. I know that recently somehave spoken of forming an all white league---I support this idea, butwonder whether it willsucceed because of all the talk that this shows that "whites can't cut it in the NBA"

Maybe the thing to do is have a multi-racial (in the sense of open to all races)pro-league *centered around the idea of the college style of basketball*. You could have the same shortened time period, shorter 3-point shots, defenses, etc. This would allow all the great college players and coachesto segue smoothly into a style of basketball with which they are familiar.

*And it would be white-friendly since the college game is white friendly.*

(one of the good ideas of the old USFL (?) or WFL (?) was the idea of a "regional draft." each team could only draft players from their region. So, e.g., the minnesota team had to choose players from minnesota, wisconsin, etc. I wonder whether something like that would work for basketball--e.g. the Charlotte team would have to draft from NC, SC, etc).

Another rule for this new league could be: You can only play in the league if you graduated from a college and played at least three years for the college from which you graduated. That would diminish the black presence in the league.

Remember Moses Malone in 1974?

He opened the flood gate in 1974, when prior it was required for every player to spend 4 seasons in college. The effect was slowly at first, then came 1995 when a dude named Kevin Garnett burst into the scene, which began an 8-year invasion of high schoolers to the NBA. Then came the age limit rule in 2004, which started the one-and doners, which floods the NBA to this day. The 4-season college rule needs to be implemented again!

"YOses" Malone indeed started the "trend", & Darryl Dawkins quickly followed. For a better product, the "Yo.B.A" does need to return the 4-season rule. However, we all know the NBA caste ma$ters are all about the dough...so I doubt they'll reinstate that rule (as they well should).

Larry Bird was drafted in the first round by the Celtics after his junior year, even though he was going to return to IU for his senior year. When Red Auerbach was asked why he would waste a draft pick on a guy who was not going to play for him that year, Auerbach said "he is worth the wait"

One Seth Sommerfeld has nothing better to do than make fun of Gordon Hayward of Butler:

The Man, the Myth, the Legend: Gordon Hayward

NBA people have been looking forward to the summer of 2010 for years now because the best player in the game will possibly be finding a new home. All this LeBron, Wade, and Bosh stuff has just been a smokescreen for the real prize â€" Gordon Hayward. (They don't want to be accused of tampering after all.) If Larry Bird is Basketball Jesus then Gordon Hayward is Basketball Moses, Buddah, Allah, and L. Ron Hubbard rolled into one. Indiana's chosen son has done it all. He won the Indiana high school state title his senior year on a buzzer beater (proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96ItvUNTllI) and now he's led a Butler team to an improbably Final Four appearance just miles from their campus in Indianapolis. Is there anything this hoops demigod can't do? No, no there's not.

Facts

When they cut Gordon Hayward's umbilical cord, he grabbed it, balled it up, and shot it in the nearest trash bin without hitting the lid.

In 1993, Gordon Hayward was the stunt shooter for the Bird-Jordan HORSE McDonald's commercial. He was 3 years old at the time.

Gordon Hayward starred in Space Jam 2, but then he blew out the second Monstars team so bad that it wasn't even entertaining. He played them 1 on 5, by the way.

Gordon Hayward plays on God's intramural team during the summer.

A Gordon Hayward swish â€" that is what it sounds like when the doves cry.

Gordon Hayward out rebounds Spider-Man in pick-up games. Gordon sense >>>> spider sense.

If Shaq is Superman (screw you nickname robbing Dwight Howard), than Gordon Hayward is Doomsday. (If you don't get that reference then you probably had a girlfriend in high school.)

Vince Carter got the idea for dunking over Frédéric Weis from the time when Gordon Hayward dunked over VC.

Gordon Hayward was the bellboy for the Dream Team. He would've suited up, but the people in charge of USA Basketball didn't want to embarrass the Angolans.

Gordon Hayward was only listed as a 2-3 star recruit because the recruiting services numbers don't go two places. These ratings actually represent him being a 12 or 13 star recruit.

Gordon Hayward is bigger than Greg Oden. You know what I'm talking about.

Gordon Hayward's shot is so smooth; Fabio can't believe it's not butter.

Jimmy Chitwood had a Gordon Hayward poster in his room.

The Man Himself

Gordon Hayward possesses everything you'd want from a player. His shot is so pretty that it seems shocking when it doesn't go in (he is only shooting 29.5% from 3-point range this year, but doesn't seem to be a test of true talent especially considering he shot 44.8% last year from deep while taking more attempts). He can ball handle and pass with a guard's touch. He's a very heady player that displays a high basketball IQ (not surprising considering his high non-basketball IQ â€" he's an engineering major). He's shown that he's not afraid to bang down low to get rebounds, at times displaying the kind of grit that reserved for the guys at the end of bench who need to be fierce to even make the team. He's also no slouch on the defensive side of the ball, using his size and length to be a pesky little cog in Bulter's terrific team D.

Most importantly, Gordon has shown a knack for the big moment. For those heretics skeptics who didn't think his performance in the Indiana 4A state title game wasn't enough, the cojones he displayed in the Elite Eight matchup against Kansas State sealed the deal. He came up with two plays when his team needed it the absolute most. Most people will probably remember the layup he hit after his teammates' tremendous hustle to save the ball, that essentially sealed the game by putting Butler up 6 with 1:03 to play, but that wasn't his shinning moment of clutch.

Tied at 54 with under 3 minutes to play, Butler ran a backdoor alley-oop play for Hayward. It's a play that they botched on the very first possession of the game. Hayward ran the play to perfection but Willie Veasley, who was bringing the ball up the floor, threw up a horrible pass. Hayward somehow managed to catch the ball behind him, with his momentum carrying him away from the hoop, gain a sense of balance and control and bank in the bucket that put his team up for good. Guys who don't have the proverbial "it"Â don't make that shot, especially at that point in the game with a Final Four appearance potential riding on the player's ability to catch the ball mid-air while out of control, maintain focus, and put perfect touch on the shot. That is a ballers play. Don't be shocked if (or should I say "when"Â) he hits the buzzer beater to win Butler a national championship on Monday.

And while it may not come into play on the court, Gordon is more adorable than kittens on YouTube. If there was a viral video of Gordon jumping in and out of a big cardboard box it would get so many hits that it would crash the internet. So when considering his draft stock you must consider the marketing opportunities. Namely to the scream tweeners who are ready to move past their Jonas Brother phase and enter point in their life were the realize jocks are the ultimate prize. Can't you picture Gordon's heartbreaking smile adorning the cover of Teen Beat?

Now there's some of the so called "draft experts" that think Gordon Hayward will not be drafted first overall if he decides to come out early. Ludicrous. They point to some guy named John Wall or this joke name Evan Turner. Umm"¦did these so called "superstar prospects" make the Final Four? Oh they're not? Shocker. I mean come on, name one good player who didn't make it to the Final Four. (Oh"¦Chris Paul? Yeah well I mean, he's alright I guess. Wha"¦Kevin Durant? I guess he's half-way decent if you like that kind of player.) I rest my case.

Final Verdict

Gordon Hayward is so legendary that he shouldn't be drafted #1. He should be drafted #1 through #10 forcing a team to trade for all those picks in order to retain his services. At the very least the woeful Indiana Pacers have to draft Hayward. I mean look how good it worked out last time they drafted the local legend"¦Steve Alford in '87. (Wait"¦you mean they passed on Alford for some punk from UCLA"¦yiesh"¦I'm sure that train wreck worked out.)

Do you feel that rumbling in the distance? That's all the NBA superstars are already shaking in their shoes for when "The Hay-maker"Â lands in the league.

Pointless drivel. Mocking all things white. This guy reveals his true nature by referring to Greg Oden's junk for no apparent reason.

Wow, this imbecile really wasted his time and a bunch of reader's time as well. He even threw a dig in there about Jimmy Chitwood. Is it coincidence that we have heard that name thrown around a lot more this season than at any time I can remember? Considering the fact that Jimmy Chitwood is the screen name of an awesome CF writer, talent evaluator, and basketball fan, I am beginning to think not.

What a complete smart ass. He really does show his true colors. Sounds like a guy I could not stand to be around for too long, without popping him in the face. Edited by: celticdb15

If the Pacers draft Hayward, Jesse Jackson will surely show up. Remember how much critism they got as a racist organization for drafting Hansbrough last year?? Unreal.
