and discuss some Draft Strategy as well. A few years back, a lot of us were right about Darren McFadden not being anything close to Superman.

So, here's a thread where we can put our Draft "expertise" on the table!

Here's my list:

Gerald McCoy (DT from Oklahoma) - I can never figure out what makes him a Top 3 pick, or even a Top 10 pick for that matter. Even if he was Superman (and he doesn't play like one to me), the BAD team that selects him still risks not being any better anyways. All that signing bonus money shoveled-out, and your team still faces the likelihood of sucking.

Eric Berry (Safety from Tennessee) - He needs to start juicing. A White with his height/weight and small-build, not to mention his propensity to get trucked over-and-over again by opposing running backs, wouldn't even be talked about as a 1st day pick, much less a Top 3 pick!

Verdict: He should be able to get a few picks, and from that alone, he'll be annointed as the "next Ed Reed"... I think that sums it up nicely.

Suh (DT from Nebraska) - He's pretty good, but that doesn't make him deserving of a Top 5 selection. Drafting a DT - with a Top 10 pick - is nearly always a huge mistake and rarely bears fruit (DeWayne Robertson, Gerard Warren, Ryan Sims, etc). The same can be said for Defensive End.

Taylor Mays (S uSC) Big and fast, that is about, scouts are drooling over his measurables. To me it seems he lacks football instincts and hasn't done anything that impressive during his career to be considered a top safety

Dexter McCluster (WR/RB/KR) 5'8 165 pounds, while he is a good player, if he were White with that size (mainly weight 165 POUNDS!) he wouldn't even be in a division 1 fbs school, definitely wouldn't be considered for the draft.

Of course Terrance Cody, DT Alabama, 370 pounds. just a big blob of blubber who can't lose the weight, he wanted to play 3 downs last year and Saban told him he could if he could lose the weight, he never did. He can't get in shape to get ready for draft time. The next Jonathan Sullivan.

I will add more but I have to get going.Edited by: dwid

Trent Williams OT, Oklahoma. I watched this slow, awkward giant get burned repeatedly all year. He got Bradford killed this year. I feel sorry for the quarterback who gets this guy as a left tackle. I guarantee the Patriots or Colts would never draft him.

Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech. Saw him get dominated by Iowa's Bulaga at the Orange Bowl. Interestingly, Bulaga seems to be the only non-quarterback white that makes the first round in mock drafts.

Jarret Brown. Black Qb from WVU is getting hyped up over his "live arm". Don't scouts learn from their mistakes in drafting black quarterbacks with live arms? Not to mention he's spent 4 years in a spread offensewhich scouts supossedly hate so much.http://www.dailymail.com/Sports/201001290048 Edited by: celticdb15

- Derrick Morgan, DE (GA Tech)...grossly overrated.
- Mount "Bloaty", DT (Bama)...world class sumo.
- Dez Bryant, WR (OSU)...can't hold Shipley's jockstrap.
- "BJ" Spiller, RB (Clemson)...smaller & much weaker than Toby!
- "CarYOs Dumblap", DE (UF)...another thug afflete who'll get handled by NFL OLs.
- "JohnYOthan" Dwywer, RB (GA Tech)...can't lace Toby's cleats!

Carlos Dunlap looks like a woman.

If Jarret Brown gets drafted at all, then Graham Harrel should've been drafted as well. Coaches supposedly hate the spread offense, but only white a white QB is in it.

Anyway, OT Bruce Campbell is another overrated sumo. He's been injured a lot at Maryland. They have him going in the top 15.

RB Anthony Dixon - Miss. St. Even DWFs know that Toby is better than this turd.Edited by: Jack Lambert

You are right. In every recent year leading into the draft they come out with one of these overrated black quarterbacks to hype who are either a completely run first oriented turd with absolutely minimal passing skills or who is a Shogtun spread QB, and every year they try to run down an equal or greater white Quarterback who makes plays with their legs or is called a system Spread QB who is "unsuitable" for the NFL. It is blatant racial profiling and list is starting to grow mighty long. In Jarrett Brown's case, he is neither a prolific passer or a prolific runner. What does he really have going for himself other than the highly desired shade of skin? Nothing, that is what.

No matter how many times a players 40 times or exact height prove to be irrelevant in the pro's, these experts continue to place so much value on them and ignore what they did/do on the field...

Al Davis especially!! He wasted the 7th overall pick on afflete Heyward-Bey who caught a whopping 9 balls this season despite starting 11 games. The announcers and DWF's still think this loser has "potential" because of his straight line speed.

Davis is typical ******* enabling Tribesman. No surprise he squandered draft picks on "affletic" busts like "Gayward-Bay" & "Duhmarcus" Russell (the slug "muscle").

Here's a minor work of scouting reports for guys ranked higher than better white players by biased scouting services. Mind you I am most experienced evaluating RBs and WRs. I am amazed that my list of top 10 WRs last year turned out better than Mel Kiper and NFLdraftscout.

The only defensive player I will comment on is Terrance Cody. He is like "The Revolting Blob" (think Principle Anderson lol). The guy needs to lose some weight to be truly effective as a pass rusher or to take down a RB that doesn't run right into his gut- this guy isn't even close to the player that Suh is...but analysts needed a second afrolete DT to prop up as the next hall of famer hot dog eating contestant..um I mean NFL DT.

WR:
Arrelious Benn's stats were VERY unimpressive this year- which can partially be blamed on an ineffective year from Juice Williams. However great players find a way to get open enough or make heady plays to help a struggling QB. This guy is in not better than either Jordan Shipley, Riley Cooper or Eric Decker and it wouldn't be unreasonable to make the argument for Chris McGaha or Blair White over him too. Benn has size which he uses to his advantage and speed, but his burst off the line and route running isn't as good as it's made out to be.

Demariyius Thomas proved to be a big play threat with a QB who struggled to throw the ball at a high level, but was held without a catch in the bowl game and only had 46 catches on the year. He isn't even super fast as you'd expect a guy with "upside", a high yards per catch with limited catches to be. Again, this is a guy who Shipley, Decker AND Riley Cooper and possibly Blair White and Chris McGaha should be ranked ahead of.

Carlton Mitchell and Mike Williams are two other players ranked ahead of Decker and Cooper by NFLdraftscout with nice size. Mitchell is a good athlete, but is less productive than Cooper and gets less separation out of his breaks. Mike Williams is another good athlete who uses his size to his advantage. Williams at least had a productive career for Syracuse, but he isn't the athlete Cooper is and could be called a quitter for quitting Syracuse's team due to a poor work ethic for academics.

Dezmon Briscoe is just a player who makes the most of his abilities and brings it with an overachiever, chip on your shoulder lunch pail attitude along with his teammate Kerry Meier. But wait a second here...Tons of draft analysts have Briscoe ranked as a top 10 WR and some don't even have Meier in the top 50 WRs. I would predict that Briscoe will be the better of these two, but a white with Briscoe's measurables wouldn't be rated as high as he is.

At RB:
In C.J Spiller I see a guy who could be one of the all time great receiving backs and return men in the NFL, but I think Toby Gerhart is still the better runner. C.J Spiller is probably still not a "workhorse" type back.

Jahvid Best is an extremely explosive athlete who can make guys miss and explode into the second level, but he lacks a thick frame and may not hold up for a heavy load of carries in the NFL and he isn't good in short yardage. Best is similar in these ways to Sam McGuffie and would probably be better in a dual threat backfield.

Joe McKnight is another very explosive athlete. However he's struggled with injuries his whole career and like Best he is thin framed for a RB at the NFL level (even more so). He would probably be best complemented with a second back. McKnight was great for USC when he was healthy.

Johnathan Dwyer and Ryan Mathews had amazing years and can handle a heavy dose of carries, but they let down in their bowl games I watched. Mathews was held out of the endzone 3 (or was it 4?) straight times in a row from the one yard line by Wyoming and Dywer struggled running the ball against Iowa more than Gerhart did against Oklahoma. It was a very similar situation for Dwyer and Gerhart- while both dealt with an ineffective passing game to help them against top defenses.

In Anthony Dixon, I see a poor man's Toby Gerhart.

In Montario Hardesty I see a guy who ran the ball with bascially the same efficiency as Jacob Hester this year in the SEC (Hester ran for 4.9 YPC as a senior/ Hardesty 4.8 YPC). You could say almost the same for Ben Tate (5.2 YPC). I wouldn't argue that these guys have more swivel agility and top end speed than Hester- and are more blend backs between scat and power. However, Hester has that explosive start and stop on a dime and one cut ability of a top power back. Hester measured with the same 10 yard burst as Darren McFadden at the combine.

Charles Scott is like Jacob Hester with less of a burst and had a bit of a let down senior season before getting hurt. He had a good year last year though and I still think he could be a solid power back in the NFL.

I'd rank the top 10 backs this year like this (pre combine):

1. C.J Spiller (Phenomenal elusiveness- and one of the all time great all purpose backs in college football. He should be a better runner than Darren McFadden, Reggie Bush or Darren Sproles in the NFL, but can he be an "elite" 20 carry a game runner? I have my doubts.)

2. Toby Gerhart (Very similar to Beanie Wells or Peyton Hillis as a runner, but looks even a bit quicker/ faster- he might be the best power back I've ever seen. If he develops even a solid receiving ability in the NFL like I think he started to show signs of his senior year- he projects as the best RB in this draft. If Gerhart impresses catching the ball at the combine and runs decent times in the 40 and agility drills he will move to my number one back.)

3. Johnathan Dwyer (Great all round athlete and he can be a workhorse back and he was very productive running the ball this year.)

4. Jahvid Best (Phenomenal moves and vision, he can catch the ball, but he's a bit light framed and might be best being complemented with another back.)

5. Anthony Dixon (A great power back with a similar style to Gerhart, but he's a poorer version.)

6. Ryan Mathews (Can be a workhorse, has great instincts, a burst and quick feet, but he's not a freak athlete like Best for instance- and he's nowhere near as powerful as a guy like Toby Gerhart.)

7. Joe McKnight (A freakishly athletic back, but he's struggled with injuries and lack of elite production.)

8. Ben Tate (This guy is good not great- at every measurable skill set you want as a runner, but needs to pick up his receiving game a bit.)

9. Montario Hardesty (An all round back who is a good not great runner- he also showed he's a receiving threat for the Volunteers, but he isn't quite as athletic as Tate.)

10. Charles Scott (Underperformed this year, then got injured. He's similar to Shonn Greene, but a poorer version- has similarities in style and production to Jacob Hester as well. He had a great year as a junior.)

I still think Jake Sharp is worth a 4th or 5th round draft pick despite a let down senior year due to injury. I also think Trevyn Smith would be a good 6th or 7th round pick. Three other white backs who could be good 7th round or PFA players are David Sinisi, Blake Smolen and Luke Lippincott. Unfortunately I have never watched Smolen, so I can only go by what I read about him, stats and measurables.

I didn't make a point of mentioning the top 6 black NFLdraftscout WRs b/c I think they all are talented prospects. Still, the only two guys I'd call "can't miss" prospects are Golden Tate and Dez Bryant. And the only guy with arguably more "upside" than Jordan Shipley or Riley Cooper is Tate. I think Dez Bryant, Damian Williams, Mardy Gilyard and Dexter McCluster (RB/WR) all have a lot of "upside" for the NFL, but I still like Shipley and Cooper's upside more.

The BS rumor being spread about Cooper by the "experts" is that he "can't catch" the ball consistently which is going to hurt him in the draft. Cooper has everything you'd want in a #1 WR except he happens to be White so he won't be a 1st round pick.

The "experts" will always be inaccurate when evaluating White athletes at skill positions because in their minds Whites are inferior athletes when compared to blacks so it's impossible for them to accurately assess their potentials. This bigotry leaves a lot of draft day steals for wise coaches and GM's to draft the White players rated way below their talent level.

All you have to do is watch the product the NFL puts in the field year after year. Less fundamentals (missed tackles, dropped passes, taking plays off), more mistakes, more self promotion, typical afflete behavior, and it gets worse every year.

The official NFL combine invite list is out and I was pleased to see a lot of familiar names on there, especially at Wide Receiver:

Riley Cooper, Florida
Chris McGaha, Arizona St.
Blair White, Michigan St.
Kevin Jurovich, San Jose St.
Eric Decker, Minnesota
Ryan Wolfe, UNLV
Kerry Meier, Kansas
Jordan Shipley, Texas

That's a lot of guys to cheer for.

Jared I think that list has been out for a while now. Someone posted it before. 8 white receivers invited is as good as it's been in years.

No WA33, the previous list was the unofficial pre-combine list, not complete. The official list was just released, you can see it here.

On the official list were White, Wolfe, Shipley, Meier, McGaha, Jurovich, Decker and Cooper at WR. Toby Gerhart is the only White RB listed.

Jake Sharp should have gotten an invite, especially since Kahil Bell got one last year. Sharp had more yards his junior season than any season Bell had with 860 yards and 12 tds and 283 yards receiving 1 td. Bell's most productive season was his junior year with 795 yards 5 tds and 93 receiving 0 tds. Sharp didn't even have that bad of a senior season considering he played with an injury for most of the season with 429 yards rushing 4.2 ypc 4 tds and 266 yards receiving 3 tds.

Plus Sharp has shown amazing quickness and speed and has been timed at 4.3, when he came into Kansas he ran a 4.5 and got it down to 4.3, so would run no slower than 4.4 electronically. Bell ran a 4.78

Here is Kahil Bell's amazing combine write up at the combine that supposedly made him deserving of an invite

"Although Bell is a strong one-cut back with loads of potential, he had an injury-riddled and generally ineffective career with the Bruins. He played in only 25 games over the past three seasons, starting 14, because of a suspension (2006), torn right ACL (2007) and high ankle sprain (2008). As a senior, he averaged 2.8 yards per carry playing hurt behind a young, constantly rotating offensive line. His 10 catches for 65 yards did not showcase his talents, either. If his legs are healthy and his mind is right, teams running a zone-blocking scheme could find him to be a great bargain as a late pick or free agent."

so this guy gets an invite and a chance to run the ball with the Bears even with a terrible combine. Everybody is looking for a "Chris Johnson clone" meaning, someone with 4.3 speed and can actually run between the tackles, which is exactly what Jake Sharp can do. Everybody is thinking CJ Spiller, but I think Spiller will be more like Reggie Bush, a great receiver out of the backfield and return man but not great running in bw the tacklesEdited by: dwid
