She's a playing a limping, but very game Serena.

I wouldn't say she was limping. I figured when Serena got back to 4-4 in the second she'd go on to win. Azarenka was playing well above her usual level.

Maybe the Australian crowd thinks Tsonga is a mixed "Abo".. because he doesn't look like this..

The crowd favorite, Tsonga, advances to face Fed.

Does Fed have the mental toughness to defeat a non-White, one that doesn't appear to possess any "special" athleticism? We shall see!

When Azarenka made an (unforced) error on a forehand at 30 all and up four love, giving Serena a game point , I knew the tide had shifted.

Didn't see the Djokovic-Tsonga match. I thought Novak would be able to keep Tsonga at bay with a better groundstroking game. I know Tsonga lives off a lot of outright winners, I assume that is what happened.

Did a quick check on Roger's record against Tsonga. He is one and one. I remember the loss. Roger was up something like 5-1 in the third in a three setter. Inexplicably Roger took his foot off the gas pedal. Tsonga recognized it and picked up his game.

Ferderer's combined record against James Blake (9-1), Gael Monfils (5-0) and Tsonga (1-1) is 15-2. I would be surprised if he has any reservations playing Tsonga because he is non-White. Deadlift, your question may have been tongue-in-cheek. I posted the head-to-head results, anywho.

Djokovic pretty much gave up the 4th set due to illness. He had to leave the court to throw up. He'd trouble breathing too. This all occurred when Djokovic had just won the 3rd set and had momentum. Cliff Drysdale, the veteran South African commentator, said Djokovic would've won if not for his illness. Enberg said it was a combo of Tsonga's "dee-fense" and Djokovic's condition.

Tsonga doesn't seem like a bad guy - he's certainly not full of himself like NFL players - but I got so tired of Dick Enberg calling him "athletic". He said it at least twice in the 1st set. Djokovic is merely speedy but Tsonga, like Monfils, is athletic.

The Australian Open was played last year in record breaking heat. Djokovic retired early on in a match because of it. I remember the announcers saying that the same thing had happened with Djokovic at other events. He looks extremely fit, but he must have stamina problems.

Li Na should've done the one strategy against Serena, wear her out in long rallies. She was constantly going for winners, which unfortunately for her, was often an error. Serena was in trouble several times, but Li failed to put many important shots away. Goes to show how mental strength and experience can go a long way, and Serena actually has tons of it.

Justin Henin will face Serena in the finals. She's making quick work on the other Chinese lady.

With do respect to Tsonga, I think he's a really good player who's only "over hyped by the media." The biggest knock on him is his mental strength and experience, and Federer has tons of it. A Finals win though by both him and Serena will be marked by the media as the "greatest moment in tennis history." Something I'm definitely going to puke over. Better hope that Federer and Henin can pull off a "major upsets." Edited by: j41181

Darn it. All of a sudden, there's a real good chance both singles winners will be black, and we all know how happy the media will be about that one.

I was watching some of the coverage yesterday, and the hype was unbelievable. Black supremacist Pam Shriver was on a roll. In addition to her worship of the Williams sisters, she was going on and on about how "fast" Tsonga is and how his "superhuman strength" would be tough to handle by anyone.

Then, during the match, Dick Enberg commented that Tsonga should perhaps suit up as a "running back", and Brad Gilbert interrupted him by saying "he looks like he wants to hit someone. I'd put him at middle linebacker."

Sometimes, it's quite unbelieable how widespread the caste system is, and how brainwashed everyone of these announcers has become.Edited by: foobar75

I'm not impressed with Tsonga (Djokovic absolutely crushed him 6-1 in that one set and Tsonga was LOST as heck).

But, I'd say that there's a slim chance that Fed chokes, thus obliterating his legacy completely. If he loses, I just hope he doesn't break-down in tears again. If all that were to occur, I would be tempted to say it was "scripted" because that's the PTBs wetdream - David standing over a mourning Goliath.

As a person who has heaved on a tennis court (a la Pete Sampras at the 96 US Open), I can say that it is pretty much a zapping experience.

We were just weekend warriors playing club tournaments back in the day. Loads of fun, especially doubles matches. I think it was discovered (can't find a link) that Sampras had some chronic stomach issues that were effecting his conditioning. Djokovic ought to have himself checked for the bug that can cause ulcers. 50% of people carry it I believe. Sometimes no symptoms or just low level inflammation occurs. If there is some underlying issue it may throw a monkey wrench into stamina.

Hopefully it'll be a Federer-Murray final. Murray looks ready to start winning majors, and may even replace Nadal as Federer's main rival if Rafa remains held down by injuries.

The women's final is very intriguing to say the least. I wonder if Justine weighs even half of what the tank-like Serena does.

Henin easily get the tennis title for toughest pound for pound woman on the tennis tour. I have always said that she has the sweetest backhand shot(one handed) that I have ever seen, man or woman.

I remember watching that match against one of my favourite players of the 90s Alex Corretja. One of the best matches I've ever seen - maybe the best.

I agree with Don: Murray has stepped it up a notch. As long as he doesn't have another disastrous final like the 2008 US Open I think he's now set to start winning slams.

I really hope Justine wins against Serena. If it happens it will be incredible following on the success of Clijsters at the US Open. However, the instant success on return for both Belgians suggests that the women's game does not have much depth. Edited by: Matra1

Women players born in the years 1989-1991 lack the capability to match the likes of Henin, Clisters, Sharapova, Kuznetsova and the Williams sisters. No wonder the women's game looks so shallow. Might have to give that generation another 4-6 years to grow.

A marvelous performance by the one and only Roger Federer!

Definitely one of the best I've ever seen of him!

Vijay Singh was simply awe struck by Federer's brilliance, and I'm sure the rest of the idiotic ESPN analysts are completely shocked themselves. How can an ultra athletic player like Tsonga lose??? Simple, no matter how athletic, Federer is 10 times the player Tsonga is, period!

Tsonga and his backers were just "Federized" !

As long as Federer's in his prime, and healthy, the Grand Slams belong to him (with exception to Nadal). Tsonga will get better no doubt, but not on Federer's watch. Thank you very much, Federer!

This makes up for the travesty of Kaman and Lee not making the All-Star cut!

I like Federer but rooting for Andy Murray early this Sunday morning. Murray has beaten Federer six out of ten times but not on this grand of a stage.
