He just barely beats another white sprinter, Chris Wright.
Turns out Chris Wright also got 2nd at the State Meet behind Hepburn.
It's hard to see in the other video, but this video has a better angle of the race.

Colin Hepburn,Illinois state champ in the the 100m, has signed with Stanford:

"Hepburn is the defending Illinois State Champion at 100 meters where he ran 10.50. He was also the State Champion in the indoor 200 and has run a personal best of 21.71 in that event outdoors. This past summer Colin gained international experience as a member of the gold medal winning and world record setting sprint medley relay at the World Youth Championships in Italy."

Thankfully, Stanford continues to recruit and sign white athletes for traditionally non-white athletic roles and positions, i.e., sprinters, hurdlers, running backs, defensive backs, and wide receivers.

Sopomore Kellie Schueler defended her state titles in the 100, 200, and 400m. But even better, she set state meet records in all three individual events (12.01 100, 24.54 200, 55.04 400), and was the anchor on Summit??s state meet record 3:55.11 4x400 relay!

Just saw that Kellie has improved her times this year to 11.89 100m, 23.95 200m (7th fastest in the country), and 54.25 in the 400m (also 7th fastest in the country).
She's a junior, so she has time to improve even further.

We really need to stand up and take notice of Kellie Scheuler.
White American female sprinters are about as rare as they come. But this girl is fast!
She won the 100, 200, and 400 (again!) at the Oregon State meet.
Her times were 11.78, 23.94, and 54.60.
Her best times now are 11.68, 23.69, 54.25. Those are really blazing times, and she is only a junior! Her 100 and 200m are the 2nd fastest in Oregon history. The only person faster than her ran on the US 4 x 100 team at the 1968 Olympics.
She is an exciting talent!
However, the caste system is still in full effect. Her coach, who acknowledges her special talent, thinks she should be an 800m runner! 2nd fastest girl in Oregon HS history, only a junior, top 10 in the country in the 200m and 400m, and she is STILL being encouraged to give up the sprints for the 800m. Unbelievable!!! I am sure none of the top black sprinters in the country are being pushed to do the same.

Kellie Schueler, Oregon state champion sprinter has also signed with Stanford:

"Schueler is a nine-time state champion in Oregon. She has swept the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the 400 meters in the 5A Division in 2007, `08 and `09. She owns track bests of 11.68 for 100, 23.69 for 200 and 54.25 for 400. Kellie has demonstrated great versatility by running a 2:08 split on the leadoff leg of a 4x800-meter relay and by placing fourth in the Oregon state cross country meet. She is also the 2007-08 and 2008-09 Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year."

Stanford has also signed these 2 sprinters:
"Angela Gradiska - Pinewood H.S. - Los Altos, CA
Gradiska was one of the top sprinters in the nation in 2009. Her times ranked her 10th in the 100 meters and ninth in the 200 nationally. She earned All-State honors in both events at the 2009 California State Meet placing fourth in the 100 and second in the 200. She posted personal bests at the meet of 11.67 for 100 and 23.64 for 200."

"Katie Nelms - Leland H.S. - San Jose, CA
Nelms is one of the nation's top returning hurdlers. She was all-state at the 2009 California State Meet with a runner-up finish in the 100-meter hurdles and a fourth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. She owns personal bests of 13.70 for 100-meter hurdles, 42.81 in the 300 hurdles and 1:01.16 in the 400 hurdles as well as 11.85 for 100 meters and 24.71 for 200."

All of these girls will be part of the incoming class of 2010 in the Fall. So they will still have their senior seasons in high school to improve their times before starting at Stanford.

Kellie Schueler won 4 more titles - 100, 200, 400 and the 4 x 400m relay at the Oregon state meet.
She finishes a great HS career with a perfect 16 for 16 state titles at the Oregon state meet.
She heads to Stanford next year.

Also Angela Gradiska won the 100m and 200m at her sectional meet in California.
Katie Nelms came in 2nd (to Gradiska) in the 100m, 2nd in the 100m hurdles, and 1st in the 300m hurdles.
Both of these girls will also be heading to Stanford. Maybe Stanford will have an all white girls 4 x100m relay team next year.
