6 tenth at that level no, that's unique, or find me an example. That's the kind of progress you have at 14 or 15 max,  not at 19, but anyway he will be for sure the first white sub-10 in regular condition  and if he continue at that rythm maybe the first human sub-9  and sub-19

Yes, it is a very big improvement. I want to believe it is for real, but who knows? So I checked a few other sprinters, and quickly found similar improvement from the young Portuguese sprinter, Arnaldo Abrantes.
In 2006, at the age of 19 his best was 21.20.
In 2007, at the age of 20, he improved to 20.48.

Guliyev at the age of 18 had a PB of 20.66.
Now at the age of 19, his best is 20.04.

So, actually Abrantes improvement was bigger, 7/10ths.

Much easier to improve .7 when your PR is 21.2. I don't get suspicious of many whites and blacks to that are so thin. Spearmon, Wariner, Guliyev, Abrantes...

I get suspicious of Bolt, Gay, Powell, Williamson, Ayreety, Merritt, and Blake. That John Smith coach could be up to something considering he coached Bolden and Greene.

Maybe you are right.

But yes it's "easier" to improve from 21'20 which is an average time at 19 yo.

Ramil improved from a good time to a an amazing time, the 2d best ever for a junior.

Berlin will be exciting.

But actually after thinking I do believe he is clean because I don't think a doping product which can get you 6 tenth in a year exist.

With doping you get 1 tenth maybe 2 on 100m (Chambers was 9'97 without and 9'87 with) and maximum 3 or 4 max on 200m so good luck Ramil...

This also was shown by the Athens gold medal winner in the 200m that was white and caught doping. He's the only white cheater that I happen to know of.

<div>Remember, a lot of competitions only test the 3 medalists.  They feel it's a waste of money to test those who don't place.  The non-finalists don't get tested as much as the Bolt's, Powell's, and Gay's of the world.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>That being said, the Russians are BY FAR, the dirtiest country.  It's not even close.  They currently have *29* track & field athletes currently under suspension for doping.  The Bulgarians have 6, Italians 5, and Greeks 4, while Jamaica has 1, and Great Britian has none.</div>

Getting caught and being dirty are two different things. Because only 1 Jamaican and no Americans nor Brits are under suspension does not mean -at all- that they are any cleaner. Just better at it and better doctors that know how to mask. So go tell it to Sweeney...

In his little, poor, almost remote country, I doubt he has access to a physician who is skilled enough to provide some superperformance drug that is also maskable. I think he's young and improving on his slower times which is a natural progress. How many sprinters, of any origin, have we seen stuck around the 10.10 mark and take forever or never to get over it?

I hope he runs so fast that blacks will turn white with envy and fear when they compete against him.

Will talk much more later tonight about this guy. I'm amazed at the times. I must say that it's about flippin time that these type of times are happening. I have said for years that we can compete. Give Ramil any descent wind and he is already easily sub 20 in the deuce. Hell yeah. This is what I'm talking about. Way to bring it Ramil.

I still can't believe he ran so fast. He, Unger, Cerutti, and Lemaitre are now our short sprint hopes. There are more dark horeses like Kosenkow, Herring, Hession, Di Gregorio, Collio , Schwab, Kuc, and Abrantes. In the longer sprint we are very strong with Wariner, both Borlees, Gillick, Benjamin, Rooney, Tobin, and Wissman. Edited by: StarWars

Asian record in men's 200

In the men's events the best performance of the day came from junior Ramil Guliyev (AZE). The 19-year-old athlete improved his personnel best in the 200m final to 20.04. He missed the World Junior record of Usain Bolt by only 0.11 seconds. It also was a new Asian record.

I fixed the title of the thread to give credit to the best white sprinter on the planet at the moment. This kid could be another Borzov. Hopefully Lemaitre and Herring will also get to the level soon.

Despite the incredible setback today in England, this has been a weekend to remember forever. The start of the new generation of white sprinters. We are closer to competing again than we have been in a very long time. Hopefully by 2012, we will have multiple sub 10/sub 20 guys that can push for medals. I will remember this weekend as when it all started and thanks to Ramil for leading the charge. What an amazing run by this young speedster. I can't wait to see him run his next 100!Edited by: white lightning

Ramil is only .11 away from Bolts World Junior 200 Meter Record. Can he possibly break it? That would be amazing. What he has done already is just incredible. He deserves a nick name.

Here are a few I thought of. You guys can add to the list.

"Rocket Ramil Guliyev"

"Ramil the running man Guliyev"

"The man of steel Ramil"

"Ramil Flash Gordon Guliyev"

i've got an idea ..."Ramilestone."

i think that would be fitting, especially if he's the first to go sub-10 or breaks Bolt's record in the deuce.

He actually looks a little like Wariner with some facial hair. Man did he run that turn nicely. His power and stamina is incredible. He also has nice form. I have a feeling there is alot more to come from this young man. WOW!

Some perspective:
Borzov 10.07 20.00
Mennea 10.01 19.72
Guliyev 10.08 20.04

We will see if he can handle pressure competing against the big boys at the World Championships. Hopefully he makes finals in 100m and medals in the 200m. His upside is probably greater than any white sprinter in recent memory. His form is excellent, he is so young, the mainstream will not suspect PED usage due to his physique (except here, lol), and he knows how to win.

Great analysis JT. He is actually built similar to Mennea. I love guys that can just flat out run. Even Wariner was a 20.40's sprinter in high school. Most of the elite sprinters have that long, beautiful stride. Almost like a cheetah. It's incredible to watch. Especially in slow motion.

King Ramil has the feel. Hahaha. I liked your nickname Jimmy. I like all the nicknames and he deserves everyone of them. Could this finally be the summer we have all been waiting for. I sure hope so. We have so many guys getting close but I have a feeling that Guliyev will be the first. I also belive he will go sub 10 and sub 20 which will put him in a very rare category.

Like albinosprint said, I'm pumped as well. Hell yeah!

Yes, WL his form and build is similar to Mennea.
Also, the progression of Guliyev is not out of this world. His times did not come out of nowhere. His times age wise are very similar to Justin Gatlin's progression. Pickering (I know not done), Shirvo, Macrazon. and other hopefuls were only strong in the 100.

Youth= 20.67 9th fastest in history
Youth=10.42 100m
Junior=10.08 only 10 have run faster in 100m
Junior=20.04 2nd fastest in history
Senior= why cant we expect under 10.0 and many medals in the 200m for yrs. to come?

Limit the doping to the physique is a mistake.

To think : "muscular guy equals doping" is a mind simplification.

Especially when you want to get stamina (and anyone who has run a 200m knows how it's necessary to have stamina to keep the speed ). There is a lot of cheaters in long distance and they are very skinny, the ability to take muscle has nothing to do with doping.

But when you cheat and when it's easy for you to take muscle because you have a mesophorm body, you become more muscular than a guy who does not have that ability even if he cheats also.
And black guys have more mesophorm body than white like Rami or Lemaitre who are ectomorph.

Ok, and there is also a lot of doping product which does not make you bigger and a lot of technics like autotransfusion (impossible to detect) or the use of asthma medication (87% of the sprinter use them, blacks or whites) which do not make you more muscular but makes you have a better oxygenation of the blood. You get a better stamina because you don't feel the lactic acid which block your muscle at the end of an effort.

Bolt for example is not a big muscular man but anyone there thinks he is a drug user.
And we can read how suspicious people are because his PB improved from 19'75 to 19'30 which is 45/100.

But for the 62/100 of Ramil it's ok.

But he is white so...

I thought I was on an track and field advanced analysis forum, but I made a mistake.

Anyway, don't answer to my post because I leave that racist place.

Have your opinion but it doesn't explain how a guy like Bolt runs a 100 in the olympics finals and shuts it down while celebrating 10-15 meters out. Or how he can run into a hurricane wind and still break records doing it on a wet, rainy day. It just doesn't add up. Like I said. Some whites cheat. Some blacks cheat. I know you like Bolt and that is fine. All I'm saying is where there is smoke, there usually is fire. I said the same thing about Lance Armstrong and he is white. It is just so obvious. Label it what you want. Your welcome here if you want to be. I enjoy reading your analysis and posts but it's up to you. I hope you decide to stay.

Bubka was also a monster when he vaulted, I really think there is some guys whore are far better than other, it's rare but it happens.

he is just in advance as Bubka was.

He will set the new standart of the sprint.
