Considering I'm partially descendant of Cherusci barbarian stock. It's hard for me to really believe in Christianity. After all my ancestors slaughtered Christians to defend Germania from the Romans. I would call myself a secular humanist. Edited by: white is right

Hey, WiR, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't Rome still pagan when they fought the Cherusci under Arminius (Hermann of the Cherusci) between 8-19 AD? Rome did not become 'Christian' until after 300 AD.

What's asatru? I never heard that term before.
I do not remember Solomon Kane fighting Catholics. I don't remember any REH characters fighting Catholics. It was just a subject the REH never mentioned.

No you are right. I thought the battle was after the conversion to Catholicism. With the Hoya loss to Pacman and now this the weekend has been blur to me....

Asatru is a name for the pre-Christian religion of the Germanic peoples.

As compared to Wicca and other "neo-paganism", Asatru attempts to be authentic to the actual practices and beliefs of our ancestors. As compared to the neopagan set, Asatruar in general lean conservative, rural, and often racialist.

It's like someone asking you your religion, and you say 'German,' or whatever tribe you belong to.

And of course, then there are some Asatruar who are distinctly non-racialist, and who write reams of argument to that effect, and there is held great argument. The thing they can never explain to me is just why the F this collection of mores, lore, rituals, practices, and stories from ancient Europeans should be adopted by non Europeans. As opposed to mythos of THESE peoples. Asatru is not a "Big idea God gave to me and now I can tell other people about it and save the world" thing like Christianity or Buddhism. It is a coming home to things that mesh the primordial tendencies that are already inherent in you. (In this day and age, I have weather sattelites and irrigation to help get a crop in, as opposed to Gods. Religion's place is as a guide and a light to the dark tunnels of the irrational and unconscious.) Shinto is perhaps the best contemporary comparison.

Furthermore, because the Old Religion was largely lost during the Christinization of Europe, there is no way it can ever be ressurected and practiced in any meaningful way UNLESS the racialist theory is correct and the basis of Asatru are things that are inherently stamped into the very genetics and race-soul of Nordics.

Screaming eagle:

Re: Howard, you are right,-- which was the essence of mypost on SK. although puritanism is opposed to catholicism, and SK was a puritan, the puritan v. catholic struggle never appears in his stories (or if it does it simply appears asengland v. spain).christian v. pagan however is a theme in many of the SK stories and some of the others.

Basically I like the name and I like the character.

It's another name for ancient Norse/Germanic religion.

As for me, I'm technically an inactive Mormon, but side very little with traditional Christianity. Something about all religious truth in history coming from a certain "chosen" tribe, and its general dismissal of anything "pagan" (even though that blanket term envelops the vast majority of historic religion). Forget that Emperor Constantine was a so-called pagan until a few days before his death.

I agree with many Christians in that Mormonism is a different breed of religion. I find the common ground being we share a Bible, and have the same names for members of our Godhead (which most of them call a "Trinity", that is all one "being"). There has been a movement of late for church leaders and members to say "oh, we're really Christians, just like you", but in the beginning, men like Joseph Smith and Brigham Young wanted to be as far separated from the churches of the day as possible. I know PC Mormonism is for their survival as a religion (just look at what happened to "fundamentalists" in Texas), but I still find it sad that the church has to sacrifice it's public beliefs (and even more private Temple ceremonies) for acceptance.

If I wasn't Mormon, I'd probably be a spiritualist or a Norse "Pagan" of some sort (I'd differ in that I see Thor as being the chief god, and father to the rest). I have nothing against the man-God Jesus, however. A lot of what people complain about historical Christianity never came from him.

My draws to Mormonism are my ancestral heritage of membership, it's priesthood authority which was said to be restored the same way it was restored in the New Testament and Old Testament, and it just "feels" complete to me. About every other religion I've considered or looked into had some hole that wasn't being filled, which I thought should be in a religion.

Glad to see some fellow Catholics on here. As others have noted, many in the Catholic church have been misguided in their beliefs regarding "social justice."

Anybody who watches Notre Dame games can see the university made commercials discussing everything from global warming to AIDS in Africa, yet nothing about the faith or helping stop abortion because they feel it's too divisive. It's crazy that ND won't do this, yet AUBURN UNIVERSITY of all schools made a commercial a couple years ago about one of their former baseball players becoming a Catholic priest! It showed him in church, in his vestments and everything!

When I was in Catholic elementary school, the ladies who ran the school were all into the diversity thing. There was mandatory black history month projects, we even had a special mass for Martin Luther King every January. Friends have told me that at their Catholic school they had a day where the races were "reversed," and the white kids got discriminated against all day. The white kids would get everything last, when they did their classwork, the teacher would crumble it up and tell them to do it over, not answer them when they raised their hand, etc.

To me though, that doesn't represent the Catholic faith just some misguided people who were influenced by socialists and Marxists who are, ironically, atheist. I'm not so much into the traditionalist Latin mass thing, but for sure I'm against this social policy garbage that is really a thinly veiled attempt to retard real social progress where the truth speaks for itself.

Most Catholics I know are true conservatives that are 100% against the socialist agenda. I guess you run into your misguided people in any denomination, I guess it's best to pray for them and try to expose the truth. When you have faithful people standing up for the right cause it's amazing what can happen.

That is truly pathetic. But you know what? That is the norm not the exception. Most of our Christian denominations are kool-aid drinkers. Edited by: Bart

At the top of the hierarchy they are as subverted (enamored of Cultural Marxism) asevery other institution of control. There is not a single institution in the Glorious Multicultural Imperial Empire that's pro-white; in fact none are remotely close to being even-handed when it comes to race. That's why this country is filled with dittoheads, Christian zionists, and drunk white fans.
