Yep the old Wednesday MAC action is back. To me the main feature tonight is Northern Illinois WR Cole Tucker. A 6'2" 200 junior he is coming off a 38-531-1 season. I have seen far too many white MAC receivers stall a bit as they progress but the hope is he makes a bigger jump this year in their abbreviated season.

There are some good games on the docket before Saturday. Two games I won't get include Wyoming on Thursday night and San Jose State on Friday night. Wyoming has some interesting players emerging on defense and San Jose State has WR Bailey Gaither who is coming off a 200 yard game. One of those follow the stat sheet games for me.

On Friday I will watch Miami-NC State. State has two terrific ( hopefully healthy) white linebackers in Wilson and Thomas. Miami has a great white TE in Mallory.

Later CF favorite BYU play Boise State in what I think is their biggest obstacle to an undefeated season.

Akron actually starts the white freshman QB over the black quarterback. No sign of McKnight or Gest yet.

No white starters in the MAC (at running back) that I know of....
Four in the big 10.......Strange, for sure....

I’m watching Ohio. Jake Neatherton looked good in relief of AJO a few years ago, but is buried in the depth chart.....Kurtis (brother of Nathan) Rourke is starting at qb for the Bobcats.....

Just an observation and not an "official" tally by any means but is it me or does the MAC look less white than at any time I can remember?

More than a few black wide outs had big chunk yard nights but Cole Tucker only had three catches for short yardage. He did score a TD which I managed to miss but I was getting bored. Too bad because last night kicked off the "every night football" theme because starting next week there will be Tuesday night MAC games as well as Wednesday night ones. So if there are no COVID interruptions there will be football on TV every night for a spell.

Miami (Ohio) WE Jack Sorensen had a big night though with a 7-139 stat line in their win. As reported in the write ups this team is the least caste in the MAC. And likely the only one I will bother to watch on TV.

The Pac-10 kicks off Saturday as most of you know. As mentioned in the news thread Stanford CB Ethan Bonner should see significant time at CB due to attrition ( of course). A junior now he has been discussed here for years now and is finally getting a chance to show off his athleticism. Stanford plays Oregon in an early evening showcase game Saturday night. Too bad Oregon safety Brady Breeze flew the coup. I still feel that was the wrong move. He better run an impressive 40 yard ash otherwise I fear the NFL scouts will ignore him. Someone should have told him white skill players never get the benefit of doubt.

Games this week are pretty good although the Wisconsin/Purdue now cancelled game was the best one in the mid afternoon time slot. Still decent games throughout the day. Washington State with RB Borghi is on at 10:30 which is pretty darn late. The Stanford/Oregon game is on at the same time as the Clemson/ND game so I will be flipping back and forth.

Also curious to see how the starting two white wide receivers of UCLA fare. I think they are the only Power 5 team to start two white receivers?

Iowa will be on at noon against Michigan State. And I will check in on Texas to see how WR Jake Smith is doing. Enjoy the games this week and hopefully some good stuff happens.

a name i’m unfamiliar with and haven’t seen mentioned had a solid game on Wednesday night at running back for Miami-Ohio ...

Zach Kahn, a 5-10, 211-pound senior, gained 42 yards and scored 2 touchdowns on 9 carries. he also added 2 catches for just 5 yards. if i’m not mistaken, that is the most carries, yards, and scores that he’s had in a single game in his career.

it’d be nice to learn more about this player.

First game of Miami (Ohio) is so entertaining!
Their sub QB Mayer had 0 completions before enter into the game and played like a starter.

I did mention him in the write up I did for Miami (OH) ;)

It was nice to see some white defensive play makers last night though.

Two mountain west games on the slate tonight. It looks like Thursday and Friday games will be the theme for the MWC for the rest of the year now that the PAC is back and they get the Saturday time slots.

USU / Nevada. Carson Strong continues his strong start to the season. Up to 9 TD and no INT through 2.5 games as Nevada leads black quarterback led USU 21-9 at the half.

CSU /WYO in another Border War. Wyoming has taken the last four. Steve Adazzio came to his senses after a putrid performance by his quota last week. Patrick O’Brien gets the start. Speaking of quotas Malik Zaire is calling the game tonight

Levi Williams is also starting for the rest of the year due to another season ending injury by the Wyoming quota.

Jason Shelley was mediocre at Utah but has enough "juice" to start for Gary Andersen at Utah St

He might be a name to track for the draft in a few years. I will have to try and catch one of their games this year. Might be their best QB since Jeff Rowe/the Toucan.

The uw-cal game cancelled sucks. Missing out on lots of white players including a starting RB. Plus I’m a sue fan. Cals incompetence also results in a “no contest” when it should be a forfeit, so how can Uw even make the conference championship with 1 less game played? If we’re 5-0 and played one less game... should’ve counted as a win for Uw.

Wyoming WR Ayden Eberhart 5 catches for 100 yards and it isn’t even halftime yet.

If I still had the sports package I would have been able to see this game which looked like a better alternative to the Packers/49ers dull fest.

Chad Muma with 9 first half tackles against the rams

But scanning the stat sheet some stuff stood out. I didn't realize Eberhardt was a senior already but he finished with a nice 7-132 stat line. His first two games were real quiet and I don't see any NFL interest at this point.

Muma a junior finished with 17 tackles. He is off to a great start this season.

Other notable players in this game for Wyoming include rising freshman DE Bertagnole who had 8 tackles. That is a lot of tackles for a DE.

For Colorado State ( where my buddy coaches ha ) safety Brinnon had 8 tackles, DL MBride had 2 TFLs and Miami transfer DE Patchen again filled up the stat sheet with a 4 tackle, 1 sack, 2 TFL and 2 QB hurries game. I wonder of the NFL scouts are taking notice?

Looks like the PAC is gonna roll back the clock to 1977 and compete as the PAC 8 to kick off football. AZ / Utah and Cal / Washington called off

The Lanky "TE" Mallory looks to be a good one. If only Thug U could find a QB to get him the damn ball!
