This is an interesting fact that stands true currently. In the All Time Fastest 200 Meters European Sprinters Ever, 4 of the top 5 are white sprinters. We also have 6 of the top 10 times in Europe over 200 meters ever.

(Here is a list of the All time European Top 5 Fastest 200 Meter Times ever run)

I have a question for the sprint fans here at this great message board.

Who has had the better career?

Christophe Lemaite with life time personal bests of 9.92 over 100 meters and 19.80 over 200 meters to go with many major medals at the highest level?

Or

Ramil Guliyev with life time personal bests of 9.97 over 100 meters and 19.76 over 200 meters and he has also won many medals at the highest levels?

As much as I love Christophe Lemaitre, I would give the slight win to Ramil Guliyev. He has been consistantly at an elite level for years despite missing a few
years after the death of his father(also coach) and a transfer to sprint for another country where he couldn't run for 2 of his peak years. Despite this his times
have been simply incredible. Combine that with a world championship gold medal over 200 meters!

If only Lemaitre has Guliyevs mind and work ethic as he had even better genetic potential in my opinion. That's not a knock on Guliyev. Just stating a fact that
Lemaitre had so much more in him and that is why people have a love/hate relationship with the kid. I do still give him credit for many incredible acheivements
including becoming the first white sprinter to ever go sup 10 in history.

I will await your responses.

I agree with Guliyv, but it should be Lemaitrre, but he is more concerned staying within his safe space than enhancing his career and buildng on his natrual talent.

I sure hope we haven't seen the last of Emile Erasmus. He is one of our favorite sprinters to follow here at Castefootball.us He has run a wind legal 10.01! This article is from a year
ago but it's a very good read with nice pics and it talks about the difficulty of going sub 10, and his progression, etc. Hope to have Emiles's dad stop by to give us an update soon! :)

Samuel Purola opened his reign by running 200 meters at 21.29

Sports Jan 25, 2020 9:15 p.m.
Joonas Hentilä

Samuel Purola of the Oulu Prize opened his reign by running the Botnia Junior Games 200m with a time of 21.29 in Mustasaari on the long 400m course. Purola's goal this winter is to hit record speeds on a short 200-meter course.

- The hall season is now getting pretty short. But the goal is to carry on from what we missed last year, a new record for both trips, Purola refers to 60 and 200 meters.

Purola's 60-meter record last winter is 6.67 and the 200-meter short track course 21.11. Both results are Finland's record for 19-year-olds.

According to his coach Mika Purola, he went to Botniahall with quite a bit of speed training.

- I knew speed was good but it was a question mark on how to handle it. And at an early stage I was suffering. Hard acids came, Purola judged his run.

Purola will continue its 60-meter race at Jyväskylä next weekend.

"Then there's the hall match and the Finnish Championships, and that's where it's supposed to be," Purola said.

television (youtube) never conveys how fast the best athletes move. I heard usually non-track watchers gasp at their speed during the Sydney Olympics.
This video comes close to showing his speed as he races professional runners on a handicap basis.
He's running the full 120 metres (called "off scratch") and the others vary from between 4 and 8 metres or so head start.

That video above of Jack Hale winning the Stalwell Gift from way back is amazing. I had never seen that. Hale has amazing top end speed and also great speed endurance! :)

Was that his 10.14 run? If so, he didn't lean at the end and it looked like he let off early indicating he could have potentially run well under 10.10!!

forecast for Perth today is 28C (82F) so perfect for the sprints.
Unfortunately the wind is anticipated to be 15-20kph from the south-east - perfect direction for the 100 but maybe +6.0 metres/sec around 3pm. Let's hope it drops substantially by 6.30pm race time.
Otherwise it could mean an illegal sub 10 for this field - how disappointing that would be

Mary Beth Price ran her first race as a pro today in Germany.
She came 4th with a good time of 7.30 (and 7.29 in the heats).

Matthew Boling, 20.90 in Arkansas at the Razorback Invitational.

This is outstanding. Boling needs to give up the long jump. Even if he loves it. Too hard on the body. It will most likely shorten his career. He was born to run
the 100 & 200 meters! Anyone on earth can see that. Yes he is good at long jump and the 400, relays, etc. I know this but for him to be a super star in america
and the world he needs to stick to just the two events and run some relays. Damn I wish I could coach and mentor the kid. So happy to see him go sub 21 indoors.

streaming live now on Athletics Australia Facebook site. 100 heats just run.
Good news is that the wind has dropped from several hours ago.

Heat one: Browning 10.16 legal,
Heat two: Hale 10.12 legal, Doran 10.24 legal ,
Heat three: Nketia 10.24 legal, Clarke 10.30 legal
One and two seem to be obvious for the final but let's see what another 1 hour 15 minutes brings.

Hale PB second week running and just jumped to number 6 all-time Australian above my favourite Damian Marsh (who did his 10.13 with no wind at all in 1995).
Pity Trae Williams isn't around anymore to push the other 2 to sub 10.10s tonight

It has to be Ramil simply for his attitude and mental toughness. Christophe has shown mental toughness on occasion (when he won medals in big meets) but Guliyev has a "can do" attitude by nature. I can't see him ever being cowed by having fast black guys in his race.
Different personalities, different motivations, similar times

Clarke (pictured in white, left in my photo) out of final AGAIN with hamstring problems that occur every time he runs - time to get a job

Excruciating wind of +2.2:
Browning 10.06, Hale 10.10.

Looks good but devastating that: A. the wind was slightly illegal B. the Olympic qualifier is 10.05 C. this is most probably the fastest they'll both achieve this year

All fantastic results. Rohan Browing in great form in his very first race. Jack Hale is having the season of his life so far and he has raced more than anyone. Two personal bests in 2 weeks time!

The Finals was barely over the legal wind which is a damn shame. So sad as these guys work so hard in training to acheive these elite & world caliber times!

I'm still very excited. Wind or no wind these kids are right on the verge of greatness. I know your very knowledgeable mastermulti but I think you might be just a little too harsh. They
will still have a few more chances to run that olympic qualifying 10.05! So damn close but all in all it was a great performance by these young lads. Even Doran who is still a teenager. Very
happy with today even if it could have been a little better. I will remain positive. Australian Sprinting has not had this much talent on the mens side in the last 2 or 3 decades.

Matthew Boling, 20.90 in Arkansas at the Razorback Invitational.

Here is the video of the race. As far as I know Boling has not finished first in any race yet in college. I'm actually happy about that not because I don't root for the kid. He is my
favorite sprinter in the world. Just take a look at my avatar pic to the left. So why am I happy he is losing? This is how you grow and level up. He dominated high school like very
few sprinters ever have. It was way too easy most of the time. Even at the Pan American Champs he continued to dominate. Now he is tasting the bitter taste of defeat. No one, I repeat
no one hates to lose more than Boling. He will learn and grow from this. I stated a month ago he needs alot more strength to become a better 60 meter sprinter. His starts just are not
there yet. He needs to continue to work on his drive phase and the transition in the middle of the race. I have full confidence by the spring he will break his p.b. outdoors. The times
indoors just are not gonna be that great yet. He is building a foundation for the future. The kid is a freshman and he will be a superstar. Give him time guys. The kid is an elite talent! :)

I just found this, WL. It's only the 100 race.

Harsh? Maybe, but Jandakot and ACT are known as our two fastest venues with regards conditions. To beat their times elsewhere would be a bonus.
Interesting here that Hale started very well but Browning would appear to transition more efficiently. Maybe Hale could improve a little here.
From 10.10 down all those little things to perfect the craft are so vital
