Gonzaga escaped against a weak opponent last night with a cold shooting performance almost doing them in. on the bright side, Killian Tillie made his long-awaited return and played well (5-9 from the floor, 9 rebounds).

with Tillie’s return, the Zags started an all-White front line of Tillie, Petrusev, and Corey Kispert at the three. Kispert shot poorly in the game. off the bench, freshman forward Drew Timme also played well, pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds and scoring efficiently. Gonzaga only played 8 in the game.

for those who haven’t seen him play, Tillie is a rare impact player that can take over games on both ends of the floor. he doesn’t have to put up a lot of points, because he is also a dominant defender who could legitimately guard any spot on the floor if necessary. he’s long, highly skilled with the ball, and is a high-flyer. if he can stay healthy, which has been a problem for him in his career, he’s a legit first-round draft pick in the NBA.

****************

speaking of long and athletic, Virginia’s Jay Huff fits the bill. a very long 7-foot-1, he can really run the floor and plays above the rim on both ends of the floor. i’ve wondered why he hasn’t played more minutes over his career, but he’s finally getting his chance this year. Virginia starts two White athletes this year.

Mac McClung led Georgetown in an early season upset over top-25-ranked Texas. the high flying sophomore had an efficient 19 (7-14 shooting) to lead his team.

***************

Iowa Snowhawks had a strong second half to put away North Florida.

Iowa’s Luka Garza missed his first five shots, then he hit 12 of his final 13 to lead all scorers with 29. the junior big man hauled in a game-high 12 boards, as well as swatting 3 shots. sophomores Joe Weiskamp (14 pts, 8 rebs, 2 balls), Jack Nunge (11 pts, 7 rebs), and Connor McCaffrey (7 assists, 3 rebs, 1 blk, and only 1 to but 0 pts) aided in the effort.

surprisingly, their opponent, North Florida started 3 non-affletes, including what appeared to be their two best players. they also had two overachievers come off the bench for double digit minutes.

**************

Wisconsin’s Nate Reuvers scored a game-high 19 (8-12 shooting) to help the Badgers put away the Green Bay (black) Phoenix. who knew there were so few White basketball players in Wisconsin? Brad Davison added 15, and defensive stalwart Brevin Pritzl chipped in 10 off the bench.

**************

#18 Xavier has a couple of post players to keep an eye on. bouncy freshman forward Zach Freemantle is a long-armed high flyer, but he’s very raw. he had 3 blocks in 15 minutes off the bench, but he also picked up 3 fouls. he has to learn how to “defend while being White,” because those “fouls” will keep him on the bench. of course, ESPN put him getting dunked on as one of their (((chosen))) highlights. they neglected to showcase his numerous rejections OR him getting fouled hard to prevent his dunking on a “real” afflete.

in the starting lineup, junior forward Jason Carter led the Musketeers with a highly efficient 13 (4-6 shooting).

Thanks for the info JC. I will add a couple of more tidbits. Arizona won and Nico Mannion scored 14 including a nice jam but he was limping badly at the end of the game?

Look out for emerging Villanova sophomore Cole Swider. He scored 26 in a victory tonight and is hitting 50% from three pointers so far this season. His freshman season was a lost cause with injuries and such but he is a talent and it is nice to see him start to emerge.

Duke beat California like a drum and will face Georgetown on ESPN tomorrow night. Duke rotates four talented white players and Alex O'Connell, who had an off game, had a high flying jam in the lane. This team is really loaded and if they can start to mesh I am not sure anyone can match up with them come April.

Mac McClung has been inconsistent and his 3 pt shot isn’t falling yet. But, he’s averaging 13.6, which is slightly up from last year. My son mentioned Georgetown is coming to Stillwater on 12/4 to play OK State. So, I snapped up a couple of $6 tickets on Stubhub. The Cowboys are a decent watch at 4-0 so far, they start a White backcourt with Lindy Waters III (part Native American) and Thomas Dziagwa.

Nice. Enjoy the game.

I wanted to report on the Mighty Fighting YTs of Utah State. They remain undefeated after a hard fought, come from behind win against the LSU Africans. The Aggies trailed from the opening whistle, behind by 16 at the half, until 4 minutes remaining in the ballgame. The furious comeback was spurred by Sam Merrill, Justin Bean and Alphonso Anderson (the only black in the rotation). Merrill had 24 points (including many clutch 3s down the stretch) and 8 assists. Bean had 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Abel Porter had a off game scoring but had the game clinching steal to end things.

Xavier remains undefeated thanks to two clutch free throws with 10.1 seconds left in double-overtime by Jason Carter. otherwise the forward had a relatively quiet night, finishing with 8 points in the win.

bouncy, long, high-flying freshman Zach Freemantle had 5 blocks, 5 rebounds, and 4 points off the bench in 23 minutes.

Virginia plays early today and Gonzaga has a late-night cupcake, if you’re looking to watch some talented big men on the hardwood.

Thanks for the head up regarding Fremmantle. I stayed away from the UCONN Xavier game figuring it was a full scale caste match up. I will have to start paying attention to Xavier now.

By the way last night Mac McClung was royally screwed by the refs in the game against Duke. he was charged with a bogus charge on what looked like an easy layup and free throw. Nope. Even the announcers were stunned. They tick tacked him into foul trouble early and then the worst call I have probably ever seen. Mac was running down the court and a Duke player rammed him. Foul on McClung. The whole arena couldn't believe the call. It was outrageous and effectively took McClung out of the game.

Duke is the better team but that isn't the point. White target foul calls are beyond sickening and last night those refs made damn sure the high flying McClung was erased form the proceedings.

By the way the white brigade struggled mightily for Duke last night. O'Connell needs to relax when shooting. One small positive. Joey Baker had his second straight solid game. Nice three point stroke.
