2019 NFL Draft

I was looking at my Lindy's Draft Guide and I noticed them using a new term to describe players. They say some players have "greasy knees." It's listed under strengths so I guess it's a good thing. I have no idea what it means.

Last year they were talking about "oily hips," whatever those are. Apparently they have some weird obsession with lubricants.

Also analysts this year are using the term "variance." This is new. I'm guessing they mean inconsistency but don't know that for sure.

These analysts should stop trying to write "clever" stuff. They're not good at it.

A couple of speedy FB/RB hybrids were just selected, in Texas A&M's Cullen Gilaspia and Auburn's Chandler Cox. That was nice to see since I thought white RB/FB hybrids such as Jacob Hester, Peyton Hillis, Brian Leonard etc. was a trend the NFL gave up 4 or 5 years ago.

This draft was very strange with some our top prospects (Sills, Wingard, Cody Thompson) end uo UDFA's, while 2 sure-fire UDFA's end up going in the 3rd/4th rds (Scott Miller, Cody Barton). How the hell does David Sills our 2nd best WR prospect who's projected as a 2nd/3rd rounder (would be top WR most years) go undrafted?? Same thing goes for Cody Thomson our #3 WR, and Andrew Wingard our #2 safety (if you support Rapp) who would was suppose to be a 2nd/3rd rd'er at seasons start.

DB Jake Carlock signed by the giants, could be making a switch to LB.

I just google undrafted free agents and some websites with lists should be the first to pop up

I'm trying to find out who signed Andrew Wingard with no luck.

edit: As far as I can tell Wingard hasn't even been signed as a free agent, despite high end production and a 54th percentile SPARQ score.

OK thanks. I think he should stick in the NFL as a special teamer due to his tackling ability. Maybe eventually get some starts at SS.

The Giants signed 3 white safeties, Jacob Thieneman, Jake Carlock, and Tyler Sigler (try out) in addition to RB Dominick Bragalone. Giants trending in the right direction? Also Michael Walker to the Jags

The draft pretty much went the way I thought it would. Only real surprises for me where that Miller and Renfrow were drafted while Sills/Thompson went undrafted as well as Wingard. We also got a good feel for the biggest caste cucks in the league this year: Colts GM Chris Ballard, Jaguars GM David Caldwell, Eagles GM Howie Roseman, Ravens GM Eric DeCosta, Bears GM Ryan Pace, Browns GM John Dorsey, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst.

And while the draft is still fresh in my head it's also a reminder that the media and NFL personnel are not completely on the same wave length. For as much as I cannot stand the sports media/draftniks - the actual NFL GMs, scouts and personnel people are on another level in terms of adherence to the caste system. The draft is another layer of protection for the caste system as the league chooses who gets drafted and in turn gets the opportunity.

I literally still cannot believe Scott Miller got picked in round 6. That makes a huge difference in him carving out a career than being signed as a random UDFA. I’d love to see Miller play a big role with Adam Humphries and Desean Jackson gone.

Don't forget about Justin Watson, who is 6'3" and fast and was drafted last year in the fifth round. With Jackson gone he has a chance to play outside this season, though I don't trust the coaching staff to treat him fairly. I'd like to see Watson play regularly and maybe Miller can return kicks and play some inside. That's a best case scenario but not beyond the realm of possibility.

Mike Evans, Justin Watson, and Scott Miller is a receiving corps I would not mind watching at all.

In looking at the QB class. For the most part things went well:

- Daniel Jones gets to sit and develop - the best thing for a QB IMO. The New York media and minstrel show commentators on NFL Network and BSPN want nothing more than to attack Jones. I look forward to seeing him develop and prove all the prognosticators wrong.

- Drew Lock is probably my favorite pick of the draft and an absolute steal. He ends up behind another veteran QB in Joe Flacco. The Broncos seem to be onboard with bringing Lock along slowly rather than getting thrown right into things. QB development seems to be frowned upon for the most part. Rookie QBs are thrown into the fire sooner than they should be.

- Will Grier to the Panthers. This is another pick I liked alot. He has a chance to displace Scam in a year or two (if not sooner due to Scam's bum shoulder and propensity for throwing footballs with a downward trajectory). Scam won't help Grier out much but than again Scam isn't a refined QB even after 8/9? seasons in the league. Norv Turner should be able to coach and develop Grier and we should hopefully see some black displacement at the QB position.

- Ryan Finley fits a similar profile to Dalton. The new head coach Zac Taylor must see something in Finley. Dalton is a solid starting QB with some moments of brilliance. He has not been able to lead the Bengals deep into the playoffs though (perhaps due more to the former coaching regime). Again Finley gets the luxury of sitting and learning behind Dalton. It will be interesting to see if Taylor is a brilliant offensive mind and can develop Finley while helping Dalton improve much like McVay did with Goff.

- Jarrett Stidham was a good pick for the Pats. Hoyer is a career journeyman at this point and who knows what the investment in Etling is. From a physical standpoint Stidham has all of the tools - great arm strength, mobility, accuracy, release etc. He is very similar to Jimmy G. The Auburn offense killed him this year. With Brady now 41 Stidham can possibly be the successor in a few years.

- Easton Stick will hopefully mean the end to Cardale Jones tenure in the NFL. I am interested to see how Stick translates to the next level as he is a more mobile QB than Rivers. He will have to sit behind both Rivers and Idler Arm but it was nice to see the Chargers bring in a developmental QB finally.

- Clayton Thorson another solid pick. He is a Carson Wentz-lite type QB. Both about the same size with Thorson with a slight drop off in arm strength and athleticism. Thorson was a gritty gamer and veteran of 4 years in the Big 10 as a starter. Before he blew his ACL out in the bowl game he had a chance to be a more highly rated QB. Pederson has done good things with Wentz so developing Thorson looks promising.

- Gardner Minshew is an interesting pick. He should of been more heavily involved in the Heisman conversation. His season at Wazzu was fun to watch and he was a great distributor of the football the way Nick Foles is. The Jaguars have a longjam at QB with Foles, Kessler, Tanner Lee, Alex McGough (who played very well last year in preseason for Seattle).

- Trace McSorely is a good QB/very good athlete but he never wowed me at PSU with his passing ability. The Ravens picked him because he fits the same profile as eraserhead - a mobile QB with an ok arm and spotty accuracy at times. With the Ravens going to a run heavy offense with alot of QB runs it wouldn't surprise me to see McSorely get playing time this year.

Wisconsin fullback Alec Ingold signed with Oakland as an undrafted free agent. Some called him the best available fullback in the draft.

I'm interested to see how well he does with the Raiders.

Chase Hansen undrafted? Ridiculous. Many mocks had him as a 2nd rounder/

Bad draft for the Jets. Another probable black bust, Dlineman at the top and the one White guy (LB), later round pick will probably not get a real shot - very disappointing.

If someone takes the time to read all of the posts it gives a good feel as to what is going on. I only have a few added thoughts since everything was covered and good job by Red Raider for posting all the free agent signings.

The three obvious sore spots. The least problematic but a major head scratcher is why athletic TE Dax Raymond didn't get drafted. Three late TEs did go but none of them are downfield threats like Raymond.

Secondly everyone has jumped on it. The DB issue is becoming a serious problem. It used to be relegated to just CB but it has now creeped into the safety area. I knew it seemed like a long shot but I am especially disappointed Chris Johnson wasn't picked.

And the greatest tragedy of this draft of course is David Sills. Like many here I became concerned when I didn't hear his name early in the 5th round. And since he was on my mind the rest of the way I couldn't relax despite a few nifty 6th round picks. And yes it was odd that the white skill players dropped off in general in the 6th and 7th rounds.

As for Sills it of course reminded me of Trey Quinn last year but unlike Quinn, Sills was solidly on every draft board square in the middle rounds 4th-5th. Going further back vaguely similar Jordan Taylor (and Alex Erickson), both players I and others sited as NFL material, weren't even listed before the draft. They were not drafted but have managed to play in the NFL, especially Erikson.

The player I compared Sills to was former Titans star Drew Bennett from years ago. I would have to look it up but I think Bennett was drafted out of UCLA?

The caste slotting seems to be deepening then. Both Sills and Cody Thompson ( I was losing faith he would get drafted based on late boards) deviate from the white man WR slot stereotype. Couple that with the white DB boycott along with white RBs being totally ignored that clear pattern that everyone alluded to above is sealed in cement it seems.

Now for some better stuff in a second. But we know who the enemies are which includes the Colts, Bears, Browns and probably the Jags.

The Cowboys, Saints, Chiefs and the Eagles are showing signs they want to join that odious list. The Panthers draft was depressing but they made a nice off season move acquiring WR Hogan so they get a pass this go around.

Since I like the name I will still call them "the Cuck Brothers" but yes I think Mayock was making the calls and wow did he nail it. Hyper athletic world of potential Maxx Crosby, super athletic TE in Foster Moreau and our favorite here WR Hunter Renfrow. That was a loud anti caste 3rd day draft by the Raiders. Moreau and Crosby both have superstar potential and I remember myself and others challenging one of our members here a few years back when member "McCaffrey fan" said there is no way Hunter gets drafted. How much was that bet? Ha.

The stud patrol of white defensive players went extremely well. I can't complain although teams like the Falcons and Jets gingerly dipped in to grab one each as if to make a minor show out of it. I still don't trust those teams. ( I know the Falcons like white OL).

But it was very important that the Giants didn't stop the train after Daniel Jones with a great LB pick in Ryan Connelly. I know it is only one pick but that is one more pick than usual.

As for both Chase Hansen and Porter Gustin I am not upset. Brilliant football players but injury concerns etc. knocked them out. Granted if they were black their odds would have increased but overall the defensive picks were spot on except for the DBs and I would add LB Joey Alfieri. But the Redskins grabbing ultra athletic LB Cole Holcomb was just fantastic.

If the Isabella /Allen to Arizona was the bizarre event on the second day there were two that stuck in my mind yesterday. First off I am not anti black and I admit I was moved when that blind black kid read off a pick in Braille. And it was a Ravens pick but that choice wasn't Trace McSorley. Watching Trace and his family celebrate was touching. His father tried everything possible to contain himself but the pride he felt for his son was coming out of every pore of his body. He was literally shaking. Great to see such joy.

Trace was really not expected to get drafted so this was a thrill. Want more weirdness? I alluded to the dual QB line up in a previous post and John Harbaugh comes out yesterday and mentioned the possibility. I felt all along Trace should be drafted as a back up/ Taysom Hill type and the heavily caste Ravens came through. Isn't he better than Jackson though? Should be interesting.

The other obvious one was WR Scott Miller a player I have probably posted more about than any other this draft. But in true form I could not find any commentary on him. Did I miss it? If anyone did let me know. I went back and forth from ESPN to the NFL network and it seemed they skipped it. I did see a wrong 40 time posted. That said Tampa Bay ( Big DE Nelson is similar to Zach Allen) like Arizona came through in shocking fashion. Yes we will have to see how it all plays out but two teams we didn't expect to do anything positive pulled some beauties out of their hats.

I’ve never heard of Bemidji State but they had a WR (Landon Jones mentioned above) a CB (Gunner Olszewski) and a SS (John Vogeler) all get mini camp invites. CB Olszewski is with the Patriots and the other two are with the Vikings.
