NDSU’s dual threat quarterback, Easton Stick, has been dominant in the first half of the FCS national championship semifinals. he has run the ball 8 times for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a pretty 34-yarder, and he’s thrown 7-9 for 102 yards. he’s completely out played the “dynamic” black quarterback for SDSU (4-12 passing for 32 yards and 7 carries for 26 yards).

Stick is the superior QB and athlete. I hope he gets a fair shot at the next level. It's beyond baffling that a Dakota school would have a black quarterback on it to me.

Not much from the games today.
MTSU DB Reed Blankenship had 2 INT’s
App St. WR Thomas Hennigan scored his first receiving touchdown in their last game
App St. QB Zac Thomas threw 3 TD’s and caught one too
EMU DE Maxx Crosby finished his season with 19 TFL’s

I was hovering around some college basketball and the bowl games but settled in more for the NFL in the late afternoon and evening.

Utah State has a TE Dax Raymond who has been talked up some for the draft.

To me though the most interesting find yesterday was their RS sophomore #9 LB David Woodward who led his team in tackles and nabbed an Interception. My understanding is he has been playing lights out all season long.

When you consider former Utah stand out defenders Kyler Fackrell and Nick Vigil it makes me think the athletic, rangy and dynamic Woodward could have a future as an NFL star. One key player to watch next season. Really pops out when you watch him play.

Has he been discussed here at CF before?

Shadowlight - nice find on David Woodward. I do not think he has been spoken about before. Hopefully the return of caste clown Gary Andersen does not impede on his chances at the next level.

Woodward has been impressive all season! He made the PFF first team all American because of his super high PFF grade. I’ve thought about posting about him but forgot each time

And also on the same Utah State note, Woodward isn’t their only solid linebacker. They also have another LB Chase Christiansen who recorded 99 tackles and 5 TFL on the season. Utah State is very white friendly on defense, I’m hoping Matt Wells can bring that same philosophy to TTU, the same can’t be said about their offense though.

I dislike delivering bad news but here it goes. The reason I am not posting this on the College Football News thread is because both player's teams are involved in upcoming bowl games.

Utah quick as a firefly WR Britain Covey tore his ACL in the last game of the season. Much like another small and slight speedster Will Hastings of Auburn who tore his ACL in a Bowl game last winter ( and ended up missing this season after a short trial), Covey may or may not be ready for next season. Already a little old for a sophomore and white and slight I figure with this injury NFL teams will ignore Covey going forward. A shame.

In a similar scenario to Nebraska WR Jordan Westerkamp who had lingering injuries his senior season a few years back, Stanford WR Trent Irwin hurt his leg in the final game too. He is wearing a full leg brace and will miss their bowl game. Like Westerkamp, Irwin has been a mainstay for his team for four years and appeared to be a possible draft prospect. But patience with banged up white WRs is practically nil so unless Irwin makes a quick and full recovery I suspect like Westerkamp he will be ignored by the NFL come draft time.

White WRs with NFL prospects are rare birds and anytime they get injured it hits like a ton of bricks.

Likely not an NFL guy but UAB (and former Buffalo) receiver Collin Lisa finished off his career today, he had 4 catches for 64 yards. He finished his career with some decent stats of 98-1235-4. Not a bad career at all, maybe by some chance he’ll have a good pro day and get a training camp invite or something.

UAB also has a DB Kristopher Moll who had a solid season. He’s listed as a linebacker but plays their “star” position similar to Justus Parker or Austin Hall of Memphis.

AJ Oulette already has 115 scrimmage yards at halftime, solid start to his last college game!

Typing this as you posted Red Raider....
Former Preferred Walk-on Ohio U. RB AJ Ouellette in just 1st Half has 97 yards rushing on 17 carries + 1 rec for 18 yards(made something out of nothing!) called a "Throwback" during pre-game...announcers love him; Why not! Going to miss watching him run the ball at Ohio.

QB Nathan Rourke has 2 TD runs so far!

Hybrid DB Parker Baldwin (San Diego St.) had a INT in the end-zone. 6th of his career; has played in 54 consecutive games!

As mentioned above...
Glad to see WR Thomas Hennigan (Appalachian St) 30 yard TD catch!
Soph. DB Reed Blankenship...2 INT's for Middle Tennessee!

TRUE Shadowlight...sorry to see Covey & Irwin Out...those are some big losses

I’ve been watching the Ohio game. All of the “lunchbox” remarks have been thrown at AJO. Great first half.....He and Irons, the backup, are seniors....There’s an underclassman that’s injured that will get carries next year, but look for AJO2 (Jake Neatherton) next year....He’ll be a sophomore, I believe.......The Bobcats will be fairly bright again next year......Hopefully AJO is ok....He landed awkwardly on that nice run after catch before the half.......

AJO finished the game with a 29-164 stat line. Also caught two passes for 33 yards. Ohio shut out and thumped mainly black SDS. He was awarded the player of the game.

AJO also showed great blocking ability something you rarely see in RBs.

AJO finished the latter part of the season and now this bowl game with a flourish which speaks to his durability and toughness.

Looks like your standard NFL RB apart from his race. Future star perhaps not but serviceable and good enough to help a team win games.

Has what most NFL teams are looking for which is a rugged back with great vision and a solid burst. Very versatile too.

Will his whiteness turn them off? We will have to wait and see but I have him graded as a 5-7 round draft pick. Not a fringe prospect in my mind. He is better prospect than Ryan Nall in my estimation.

In other news DE stalwart Sutton Smith, who is a RS junior, has declared for the draft. Good move. Great disruptor. I have him graded as low as a 2nd round pick but because of his size some teams may be foolishly scared away. So I would give him a more realistic 2-5 round draft range.

Cade Carney has 954 rushing yards and Patrick Laird has 932.....
Each with a bowl game remaining.....That’ll make 3 D1 backs with 1000......

I hope both Carney and Laird hit 1k yards rushing. It's a huge achievement for a white player to rush for 1ooo yards.

The fullback Fagan from AF nearly got 1000 yards...
He’ll be back with Remsberg next year.....Quite a duo....
Eriksen should be back (not sure what happened to him)

With AJO and Laird graduating, we need some other guys to step up.....
Not many projected D1 RB starters for next year, aside from Carney and Remsberg.
I’ll do a bit of research.....Bisharat disappeared, likely hurt after a 90 yard game....
Cole Gest will be back for Indiana, in a secondary role, for sure.....Groshek will continue to get carries as a 3rd down back until Taylor moves on the following year......Zane Dudek of Yale needs to bounce back, and will. A few FCS guys are out there.....
Max Borghi is still second to Williams for another year, maybe he can get more carries his sophomore year.....Jake Funk must have got hurt this year.....Neatherton for Ohio should run a lot next year......As always, there are a couple guys that surface we don’t know much about.....Who’s running for Cal next year? Can Netherda get carries or is he a career 4th stringer......Bisharat is the one, who needs a chance to carry.....That’s enough RB rant on a bowl thread.....Merry Christmas to all of you.....

Carney plays tomorrow at noon.......Tune in!!

Samson Evens for Iowa needs to surface next year.....
Mike Epstein needs to transfer.....

I guess Slade Bolden redshirted....???
You never know if he’ll end up on D or in the slot....RB unlikely

Magyar was recently mentioned on here......

Damn the thing I hate about Bowl season is I miss the afternoon and early evening weekday games. And today there are two nifty matchups.

FIU plays Toledo at 12:30 EST. We know about WR Cody Thompson but FIU has two WRs to root for as well. They have been mentioned here at CF several times this past season CJ Worton and Austin Maloney. Neither is a senior and their respective yards per catch average 17.2 and 20.8 display an ability to beat people deep.

Next up is BYU against Western Michigan. Keep an eye out for BYU's dynamic young QB Zach Wilson who has all the tools and perhaps is an NFL talent down the road. Great athlete.

Western Michigan has a relatively white friendly defense led by speedy LB Alex Grace and S Justin Tranquill.

One note about BYU. I want to put a spotlight on a player who has been out since October with an undisclosed injury that required surgery, S turned LB Zayne Anderson. Forgetting for a minute why the injury was undisclosed (what the hell is the big secret?), Anderson can run like a bullet (easy 4.4 speed) and so the hope here is he explodes in 2019 and starts getting draft attention in 2020. I suspect the injury was not an ACL tear.

Finally to pick up on RB guru Rocky's point about the RB situation next season it is worth mentioning dynamite athlete Jake Smith who is heading to Texas. Smith is really another version in a sense of Taysom Hill. It will be interesting to see how caste heavy Texas incorporates Smith into the offense but see below a nice article on just how special Smith is as a player.

Slot WR/RB/PR/KR/QB Smith offers up a variety of options. We need explosive young white skill players who make a difference in big time highly visible programs like Texas.

I’m going to try to watch all of the FIU/Toledo game, I’ve actually never watched Cody Thompson play and I’m interested in the 2 WR’s for FIU.

Also my prediction regarding Jake Smith is that they’ll use him as their next slot receiver after Lil’ Jordan Humphrey is in the NFL in a year or 2. He’ll probably be their more athletic version of Jordan Shipley and if they’re smart they’ll do jet sweeps with him and such. Likely will be a return man too.

Missed WHY FIU QB James Morgan did not play today?? Injured; Suspended?? He is a quality passer! Of course the back-up QB is a Dual -Threat runner; missed wide open CJ Worton for 33 yard TD. & Austin Maloney(made Highlight-reel Side-line catch earlier); BUT stats will still suffer.

Western Michigan's Justin Tranquil was a highly rated CB out of HS. Of course he was moved to Safety. Alex Grace an excellent HS RB!

Thanks for head's up on Zayne Anderson; posted abt him for 17' DB Preview. Can see him on NFL Roster making impact like Daniel Sorenson.
BYU RB Matt Hadley should get some carries today

Looking forward seeing explosive WR Jake Smith at Texas in the future!

USF TE Mitchell Wilcox made a tremendous diving catch. Should land on an NFL Roster!

BYU QB Zach Wilson has been perfect today! 18-18 for 300 plus yards and 4TDs! Collie has had a nice game receiving!

Collie’s season after transferring back to BYU last kelt didn’t go as he envisioned it, but he ended it with a bang: 6 catches, 124 yards, and 2 tds. will this be the last we see of him?

BYU’s White tailback didn’t get a touch, despite being the lone bright spot in their running game most of the season.

Caste System in action. It's been well documented here how much better Carney is. Hate that Hartman was lost for the year. It will be a slap in the face if Carney is not allowed to get enough attempts today so he hits 1k yards rushing.
