I’m not sure if anyone ever reposted this....
An article about the long, lost white RB.....

Last three sentences of the article:

"The white running back didn’t disappear due to lack of ability. The white running back disappeared due to the lack of opportunity. Something that we all can relate to in some form or fashion."

Wow, it could indeed have been written by a CF poster. Outstanding article.

With 106 yards rushing and 55 yards receiving CM goes over 1500 all purpose yards, 1526. He has 863 yards rushing, so all he needs to do is average 35 yards per game to go over 1,000 yards rushing. He has an outside shot of going over 2,000 all purpose yards. Has to average 119 yards over the next 4 games!
They put up a stat during the game that said CM is the first RB since sometime in the 1970's to rush for over 50 yards and have over 50 yards receiving in 5 straight games!

I personally would like to see him in the playoffs, so more DWF's can see how talented he is!

It's so awesome seeing CM excel in the NFL so early and often. Especially as he far outperforms the likes of Dalvin Cook out of F$U who many touted as the 2nd best back behind Fournette in the 2017 draft and that the Panthers were fools for drafting CM. It appears CM came into the league at a good time when scoring points has become a premium, allowing for players with the physical skillset like CM and Alvin Kamara to shine that much more with their versatility. CM will only get better moving forward. I expect him to inspire quite a number of young athletes just now learning the intricacies of the game of football.

Here is a clip of CM's top plays from his 237 yard performance in week 12 this year.

With 3 games remaining, Christian McCaffrey is only 74 yards from achieving his first 1,000-yard rushing campaign. McCaffrey also has 86 catches for 701 receiving yards, so a 1,000-yard receiving season is possible, but highly unlikely.

If he does it, he’ll be the first white RB to do so since Peyton Hillis in 2010-2011. Before Hillis, it was Craig James in 1985. Before him, it was John Riggins in 1984 and 1983.

Best of luck to CMC in the final three weeks. He’s currently ranked 5th in the NFL in rushing yards and it’s a welcome sight to see a white man among the top of the league in that category. He was finally “unleashed” this season and he really did us proud!

they took their time unleashing him, too... I don't think he had a rushing TD in his first 6 games or so, carries weren't really there either. I am glad that he is finally firmly establishing himself as a premier RB.

C-Mac will get there proving he is a complete every down back. Rivera was true to his word about unleashing C-Mac. My only hope is that he gets over his love fest with sCam.

I doubt CM has any type of love for Scam, it is most likely he has to play the game in order to get the ball. Lets face it Scam is so in love with himself if he didn't have to utilize other players he would never give the ball up, he would run every play for himself. He is a piss ass glamour boy who is in love with his own image. Scam also knows that CM is THE premier rb in the league and has a hard time letting him shine especially as CM is Caucasian.

I could be wrong but I think sprintstar was referring the the Coach loving Cam not Cmac. Just my two cents.

Carolina is in a freefall with five losses in a row. I think Rivera would be happy if McCaffrey pulls him out of it. His job might be gone if they don't win at least two of the remaining games.

what I meant was I do not think CM has any type of love for Newton but he has to play Newtons game in order to get the ball. I personally think Scam deliberately goes away from the assigned play in order to reduce CM's production even to the detriment of the team losing games. Scam calls the shots on the Panthers not the HC Rivera.

That's correct sprintstar. Especially at the beginning of the season. Newton was pulling the ball out from CM on the RPO most of the time to which OC Turner was saying he wanted CM to get the ball more. He said this during an early season interview. CM has been getting considerably more touches ever since.
Also, if you watched earlier in the season Newton would constantly over throw or throw low to CM making it very difficult for CM to even make the catch. I once saw him make a simple toss sweep to CM that was about 5 yards behind him, forcing CM to lose his momentum while turning almost backwards to catch the toss sweep.

However, it seems lately that Newton is a little better when getting CM the ball.....and to Newton's detriment, his receivers, especially Funchess drop a lot of passes. Almost like a little pay back for what seems to be the way he, Newton, does CM?

Surprisingly, Newton stats this season are amongst his best in several categories. Not TD or TD-int ratio but yards, completion %. He probably would be better if he had better receivers outside of Olsen and McCaffrey.

Still, I wish Panthers moved away from him but we probably have another 3-4 years of him ahead of us.

Naw, Funchess isn't dropping anything on purpose. He just stinks.

The tabs didn't work on this copy. The gist is that Phillip Lindsay is the only one really doing better than Christian in terms yards per carry, 5.8 to 5.2.
Ezekiel Elliot has 268 attempts compared to Christian's 179.

Cam has a big body, but injury is inevitable if he keeps choosing to run himself.

I didn't mean to imply Funchess was dropping passes on purpose. Yes, I agree he stinks. I was trying say that maybe because the fact that he can't seem to get the ball to CM, it serves him right that when he throws right into another players hands, they seem to drop it. You know, what goes around comes around kind of thing?

Sorry I should have worded it better. I meant to say Ron Rivera's lovefest with sCam.

What I think most posters here don't realise is that Christian would most likely be leading the nfl in rushing if he had 80 to 90 more carries like Elliot and Gurley. I would
rather see that than the 1000/1000 rushing/receiving only because leading the nfl in rushing is a statement. The 1000/1000 is amazing and he would only be the 4th player
to ever do it but I doubt the dwfs, media and fellow players/coach's would admire it like if he was the nfl's rushing champion. Sadly it will never happen on Carolina as he will
never get to run the ball that much. Cam rushes alot and they pass to him alof too. We are still witnessing greatness at the highest level. We can only hope it inspires countless
kids around the country to pursue the same dream.

If CM had say another 80 carriers extrapolate his 5.2 yds per carry added to his 926 yards and he would be around 1350 yds good for first overall, this is where he should be

Unfortunately it will probably only make a difference if those kids have a father that was a speedster in the NFL, a mother that was an athlete, and parents that stayed engaged in the game by doing camps and aggressively raising their kids to be high achievers.

^^^This is spot on. People buy the lie of “one can accomplish anything with hard work & max effort”. “Hard work” is too often overstated and secondary to genetics/natural ability & opportunity. Success is about combing talent (for those who have some), ability, opportunity, diligence & work ethic. Also...in life, success can (many) times be about who you know. Having the “right” contacts is often paramount to “getting ahead”.

More than likely this is correct. The pool of white NFL speedsters is low. Even if you are, everything has to fall into place as it has for McCaffrey. Father was a great NFL WR, mother was a college athlete, he got the genes, no injuries yet. So, figure those odds? Even with an NFL father, the odds are extraordinary!
Think about the odds for some one who has no connections, that has to first, be a High School RB, then have to be the very best in the State in which they're from, which is still no guarantee as everyone here knows my story, then get an opportunity in college, suffer no injuries and only, only if you're as good as McCaffrey will you get a shot at the NFL. With all the things CM accomplished, there were still doubters.
Think of those odds!!!

...and to Flints point, when I went through camps and combines with my son, I just didn't see many white parents with their kids in the skilled positions. He was generally the only white RB, maybe 2 white WR's and no white DB's.
...and if you are that white RB or WR, you better standout. Be the best at everything.
I've told this story several times, but I'll say it again. When at the Southeastern Regional Combine, Braxton Berrios was there and won the overall MVP amongst a sea of black WR's. That's how he got to Miami and now on the Patriots IR? He had to be the very best and again, that doesn't guarantee you anything!

Well, he only needs 21 more yards to get 1000 rushing, and there are two games left. They play the Falcons Sunday. Would be nice to see him have a big game, maybe even get to 1100 before the year is out.
