Will Jones, a redshirt freshman is an explosive runner. entering tonight’s game, he had a mere 9 carries on the year ... but for 105 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown run on his first-ever carry behind the first-team offensive line.

after the highlight reel run his head coach responded, “I didn’t think he had that in him.” said coach is obviously an “astute” evaluator of talent. not.

Jones, of course, is a walk-on.

Cody Thompson nice shoe string catch on the screen & runs 23 yards for the TD...30th of his Career!

Riley Miller with a TD having a nice game so far!

Thanks for the head's up on Will Jones

it will be interesting to see how Thompson runs if invited to the Combine. he appears to be starting to get his legs back under him after his knee surgery, and hopefully will be back to full speed by then. he’s an obvious playmaker, but only running fast in a straight line with shorts on appears to matter to “scouts” looking for “talent.”

Nice job Red and the gang. Football every night of the week.

I was disappointed with the WR Scott Miller performance. It was OK but he needed more than that to capture the doubters. I wanted him to explode on national TV. I still think Miller and Andy Isabella are two key players we have to watch for come Combine time. I have a hunch the NFL will neglect them and the country won't get to see how fast they run the 40. That will really get my goat.

As for the WR Cody Thompson situation JC alluded to a knee surgery. Thompson actually broke his leg last season so I think rust is the bigger issue. Typically most players return to full speed after a broken leg unlike say an ACL tear which directly impacts speed. What bothers me is early in his college career they were lofting long passes to him but now they have settled on shorter routes.

That was a nifty Thompson TD ( picked the ball off nearly the ground) and he looks like a pro to me. A little bit Cooper Kupp a little bit Chris Hogan. As it stands unlike Scott Miller, Thompson is on the NFL radar but he is precariously close to the fringe. Some have him as a 6th or 7th round pick though so a Combine invite seems plausible. I hope. If he isn't then we are in big trouble.

The QB's in the MAC are generally somewhat sub par so it is difficult to get a real assessment on speedsters like Scott Miller which is only more reason to invite him to the Combine.

I was drinking last night and barely remember posting that recap of the 1st 3 games this week, might continue doing that while including all the white players stats like that so we can get more familiar with some of the lesser known guys who could become breakout players in the near future.

don’t blame Miller for putting up pedestrian (for him) stats. his quarterback was having a very poor night throwing the ball, as he was off the mark even on most of his completions to his receivers (this is also shown in his completion percentage). several times Miller was open for a big play, only to have to stop and wait on the ball’s arrival, dive for an underthrown or low ball, or leap to haul in an overthrow. stats sometimes lie, and this was the case (in my opinion) for Miller, as he actually worked very hard for his qb in the game.

you are probably correct on Thompson, as i may have a faulty memory on his injury. i do recall him needing surgery, though, and he has clearly not been his former self early this season when it comes to opening it up full throttle in the open field. last night, however, especially on his touchdown catch, he seemed to be returning to form with an extra gear. he was the nation’s premier deep threat before the injury, but in a Caste world it doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s considered a “fringe” prospect.

Temple is giving UCF a scare - their QB Russo looks good going up against Milton.

A.J. Ouellette - 8 car 71 yds 1 td! He has just over 600 yards on the season. With three games left he needs some huge games to hit the 1000 yard rushing mark.

This is supposed to be a Big Saturday chock full of a lot of intriguing match ups. Of course the minute I say that I anticipate a flat day where teams and players I root for come up short. I am worse than a black cat. You do not want me to cross in front of you. My real name is Captain Jinx. Ha. Bad luck follows me wherever I go.

That said I will still hope for the best.

Georgia-Kentucky.. I say GA easy. Won't watch a minute of this caste fest.

LSU-Alabama--billed as the big one. We are constantly reminded how athletic LSU defenses are well here is a big test and I say they fail as usual.

Ohio State- Nebraska. Nebraska has been on an upswing and Ohio State is coming off a devastating loss. Even though they are home this could be tight although I think Nebraska will have trouble stopping the Ohio State offense.

Boston College- Virginia Tech. Should be an interesting battle not sure I get the game?

Penn State- Michigan. Hope Michigan wins. Do not like the caste flow of Penn State but this is a very important game for the Wolverines who will be at home.

Iowa- Purdue. For a team that should be undefeated I hope the Iowa D comes up big against a caste heavy offense.

West Virginia- Texas. Truly hope the Grier to Sills connection is clicking today.

Utah- Arizona State. Hopefully Utah keeps the momentum going with stud LB Chase Hansen and quick as a fly all purpose Britain Covey.

California-Washington State. Are there two future white NFL running backs in this game? Tune in. Problem is damn game starts at 10:45 PM EST. I won't make it until the end.

Notre Dame-Northwestern. To me the most intriguing match up of the day. Night game too which is good. Won't get lost in the shuffle.

Last night I noticed Virginia played Sophomore LBs #33 Zane Zander and #56 Matt Gahm. Also have a DL #58 Eli Hanback. Their offense is pure caste though.

Noticed in the box score last night that Arizona's LB ( also a sophomore I believe) Colin Schooner came up big in their win over overrated Colorado.

I always get jacked up every Saturday and then within an hour or two I typically fall back down to earth. But hope is eternal. Haven't given up the ghost (yet).

Cottrell with a couple of early carries for GA Tech, one of which resulted in an 11-yard touchdown run.

This is the whitest I’ve seen Nebraska all year, 3-4 white skill players on offense and 3-4 defensive starters today.

I think he had a QB hurry earlier or tackle for loss as well. Too bad he's no longer playing Safety, but glad to see him on the field. Three of their four starting Safeties are SRs, so maybe he'll be back there next year. He's too good to keep off the field.

Sal Cannella had a TD for Auburn on a trick play, I’ve never been able to determine if he’s a tight end or wide receiver. The roster says TE and he was recruited as one but he’s a starting slot on the depth chart and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him line up in a tight end position

2 back to back forced fumbles by white players for Nebraska, Domann the first one and Luke Gifford the second one. Gifford recovered it too

Now Nebraska OLB Luke Gifford strips the ball from a RB and recovers the fumble as well.
