Three Nebraska LB recruits are semifinalists for the high school Butkus Award.

This is what you call being well represented. Three Nebraska commits are among the 15 national prospects who were named semifinalists for the high school Butkus Award.

Not only are there three Husker commits, but they're all Nebraska grown, as York athlete Garrett Snodgrass, Scottsbluff standout Garrett Nelson and Omaha Burke linebacker Nick Henrich earned the recognition for the honor.

The players are selected by a panel of 51 coaches, recruiters, scouts and journalists who vote separately and confidentially using a 3-2-1 ranking process. Selectors and selection criteria are posted at www.thebutkusaward.com.

Finalists will be announced November 19, and winners will be announced on or before December 4.

There goes the myth that Nebraska has to go out of state to get talent!

Not sure if this kid has been mentioned here.....Christian Cole is tearing it up for Oil City PA.....He’s had three games in a row with over 300 yards rushing, 3000 for the season.
I see Pitt has shown interest.........As a linebacker....We need someone who can call out these rat bastard recruiters......What about the boosters, they can’t all be DWF’s....

I don't really expect UNC to become watchable any time soon, but Mack Brown has picked up a White WR and OT (along with a P) very recently, but has offset that with a couple of black WR and 2-3 black defensive players. I don't see a QB in his 2019 class yet, so it'll be interesting to see if he goes the black quarterback route or not.

QB commits to KU. His size and highlights reminds me some of Josh Allen.

I wonder if Miles will actually give him a shot over the black quarterback he originally recruited to LSU.

I think signing day is this Wednesday. I don't follow recruiting too much - are their any noteworthy players at the caste positions RB, WR, DB?

I looked him up and seen a bunch of highlights of this kid, why is it that the guy with his size and speed is only drawing very light interest as a LB when he's smashing record as a RB... Even in caste reality it seems ridiculous,, if we can have Zenner,, Burkhead and McCaffrey (not to mention big bodied recent backs in Hillis and Gerhart) it really should get easier not harder for hil to get some offers as a RB. Even if it's at North Dakota or some such.

Just this WR that committed to UNC last week. Not much else over the past couple/few months in those positions. There was a RB that committed to some mid-level FBS team a week ago, but I can't find him now. I think it was in the MAC.

I wanted to pass this story along as it is another perfect example, proof of the systemic recruiting/scholarship bias these kids face.. . There seems to be a common denominator here.. ..(is it lack of size, speed, elusiveness, power, commitment, character, academic achievement ? nope) ... hmmm. what could it be?

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/indi...opponents-but-doesnt-have-a-scholarship-offer
How could a guy with 3300+ yards and 70 TD’s be ignored. It baffles me, if it was a black player he’d already be listed as a 5 star recruit with Bama breathing down his neck. Since he’s only a junior I wish the best for him in the rest of his high school career.

Ridiculous. I guess recruiters are only interested in affletes from inner city Indianapolis, not PALE faces 15 miles away in the suburbs...

Nebraska finishes strong, getting highly coveted 4-star DE Ty Robinson from Arizona, stealing him from USC, 3-star DE/OT Brant Banks from Houston, TX and 3-star OT Jimmy Fritzsche from Greenville, SC, stealing him from Clemson. Also, a LB from Georgia walked on.

PSU signed two black quarterbacks. Most of the "top" teams are replacing white QBs now. Sad stuff.

ASU signed 3 qbs - 1 black and 2 white - the two white QBs need to get out now.

BC signs a quota.

Just like every other position whites are now somehow all of the sudden losing the ability to play quarterback.

Most teams that do recruit whites now have them at OL, DE or TE. That's pretty much the trend.

Pathetic.

Interesting quote from DE Brant Banks, one of two White DE that committed to Nebraska today.

The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Banks announced his commitment to NU on Wednesday, more than three months after taking an official visit to Lincoln for the canceled Akron game. While most schools viewed the Houston Westbury Christian School standout as an offensive lineman every recruiting service lists him as a three-star O-tackle Husker coaches see him as an athletic defensive end who can grow into the position.

...

"It's weird, I've played defensive end my whole life, way more than I have offensive line," Banks told The World-Herald this fall. "Defense is good because you get to hit people."

ATH Ty DeArman was committed to Arizona State for a while but flipped to Oklahoma on signing day. He’s projected to play safety, I can’t say I’ve ever seen a white DB line up for OU. Hopefully he can see the field, something they said must’ve been intriguing to him.

3-Star LB Michael Jansey w a Five Star Play! Pick SIX! at the Under Armour All American Game..going to NORTHWESTERN

Athlete- Asa Turner from Carlsbad CA will chose btwn Washington (as DB ) or Notre Dame(as LB)...will play in Saturday's Army All Star Game as LB
24 7 Sports says "One of the elite defensive prospects in the country, Turner is a freakish combination of size, agility, and ball skills. He projects as an in-the-box safety with the Washington Huskies. His football smarts and long, athletic frame will make him a fun player to watch at the next level and probably beyond".

Athlete - Casey Kline Signed w BOISE STATE...not sure Where he projects? TE or OLB?

WR's
Jake Smith .... Signed w TEXAS...Under Armour All Star Game

Interesting to see Scott Frost Recruiting Class on Defense...nearly a 180!

Interesting to see a future white DB at Oklahoma...how long has it been? Corner Back Scott Case of the early 80's?

One interesting one is DB Ty DeArman to Oklahoma. He had been committed to ASU so something OU said made him flip. Would be great to see a white safety making plays for them. Lots of skill players going to big programs, more than I can recall in recent years.

I wanted to point out Miami (OH)'s recruiting class. According to 247 they have signed 29 kids with 13 of those guys being white. That's one of the biggest group of white kids signed to one class in the last few years. They have signed a QB, WR, 3 OT's, 2 TE's, 3 LB's, 1 S, 1 OG, 1 C. Compare that to conference foe Toledo who has signed 16 kids with 3 of them being white and one of those 3 is a kicker. Miami (OH) could be a team to really root for in the future.

Yessir! RedHawks are a team to fully throw our weight behind. The QB they recruited is Blaine Gabbert's little brother, Brett!

Good stuff TwentyTwo.

Also nice to see a post from Dolphin who hasn't posted in a long while.

Athlete Jake Smith was named Gatorade offensive athlete of the year. Think Taysom Hill as more of a full time player rather than a spot player. He is the real deal. Excited to see him team up with tough running QB Ehlinger. The Texas caste HC even said Smith can do everything including driving the bus.

WR Jase Bowen and DB Brock Jones are serious two sport athletes and both will play football and baseball at Michigan State and Stanford respectively.

Another player not listed above who was signed by Georgia as a QB/ATH is John Ryhs Plumlee. He also will play both football and baseball at Georgia.

Whatever sport the three above multi sport athletes choose be rest assured they are top tier athletes with every tool including great speed.

Stanford WR Colby Bowman is a lanky legitimate deep threat.

Wake WR Nolan Groulx is a pure slot with incredible quickness. Look for him to rack up big numbers in college. I'll try and catch some of his play tomorrow in the Army Bowl on NBC.

And good point about Scott Frost's defense commits.I have had my doubts about Frost's defensive acumen (no such worries on offense) but this white leaning defensive class demonstrates a deeper understanding of what made Nebraska so great all those years ago.

Thanks Shadowlight...good stuff from you too! Have hard time believing there are 132 Safeties in the U.S. better than Brock Jones #133 according to 24 7

Glad you mentioned John Rhys Plumlee from MS. (He was the Topic of conversation on Local Sports website on Christmas eve.) GEORGIA asked him to "Grayshirt" ; so he elected not to Sign and is considering all other options. Rumor has it Ole Miss & LSU could be ready to OFFER the Two-Sport athlete. Football is likely his 1st option.

Interesting video i ran across
