2019 NFL Draft

The purpose of this thread is to discuss the 2019 NFL draft including discussions of white prospects and how the draft might unfold.

Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa is projected by many to be a top 10 pick in the 2019 draft. He looks to be a good overall player who can rush the passer. Nick is the brother of outstanding defensive end Joey Bosa, who plays for the Chargers, so he has the bloodlines.

I believe he will be the #1 pick in the draft next year. Many believe he has even more potential than Joey and he recorded 16 TFL last year while rotating WITH 3 OTHER DE’S WHO WERE ALL DRAFTED IN APRIL. That’s insane, and he was only a sophomore, as a full time starter he should have an even better year and show that he can be just like his brother or better. Joey even stated in an interview the other day that Nick is further along than he was at his age. Big things to come from the Bosa family!

Along with the afforementioned #1 pick Bosa, we have a nice amount of other projected 1st rounders!
QBs- Justin Herbert Oregon, Shea Patterson Michigan, Jarret Stidham Auburn, and Drew Lock Mizzou.

OT- Trey Adams Washington, Jonah Williams Alabama, and David Edwards Wisconsin.
OG- Michael Dieter Wisconsin.

DE- Nick Bosa Ohio St, and Zach Allen Boston College.

Also worth monitoring is WR David Sills WV who could sneak into the 1st. Does anybody know when the last time a white wr was drafted in the 1st round??

Jacksonville took Matt Jones in 2005 in the first round and Indy drafted Anthony Gonzalez in '07, who despite what some may think concerning his surname is White. I don't think there's been any since then.

Washington DT Greg Gaines, WVU Qb Will Grier and Wyoming S Andrew Wingard are three more to watch.

Thats right! I remember both of em very fondly, forgot they were drafted that high...

Lots of good white QB's available. As of right now no black quarterbacks on the horizon. Although it seems that every year, by hook or by crook, the powers that be try to shoehorn a black quarterback into the first round.

Still as of now, most mock drafts don't feature any black quarterbacks. However, that could always be subject to change. Tyree Jackson is my pick for the black quarterback the powers that be try to convince everyone is a first round pick. Watch him get talked up quite a bit this year. He plays for a small school (Buffalo) so he's kind of been under the radar, but watch the football media anoint him as the next black QB wunderkind.

Will scouts tell Nick Fitzgerald to attend the draft as WR like Lamar Jackson ?
Fitzgerald is tall and quick but not polish when throws (54%--55% accuracy in two seasons), just like Matt Jones in his Arkansas years.

In fact this wont be the topic in few weeks, has the tools to improve on that number, especially people normally learn from experiencing that kind of injuries,
and a new coach... he changes his throwing motion, best for him.

Tannehill has been outperforming Newton in this game, yet according to DWF, Tannehill sucks and needs to be replaced.

The linebacker is EMU's Kyle Rachwal is 6'3" 240 lbs. Weenie world of course regurgitates exactly what Pauline says becuase they offer no actual content of their own - just copy and paste snippets from other supposed "experts".


Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline lists Eastern Michigan junior LB Kyle Rachwal a potential draft "sleeper" based on his performance against Purdue on Saturday.
Rachwal was a tackling machine in the upset win, recording 11 tackles with one of them going for loss. Pauline notes that scouts haven't graded Rachwal yet, but this performance against a Big Ten opponent will certainly get the 6-foot-3, 240-pound linebacker on radars. As Pauline summarizes: "Rachwal is a small-ish, intense pursuit linebacker who’ll offer value on special teams."

"He's a tackling machine, prototypical size, and clearly has a nose for the ball. So you know what, let's go ahead and move him to Fullback. He can always make tackles on Special Teams."

I am begining my NFL draft prospect watch list a little late this year.

As is always the case with me I find the QB position the most enjoyable and most cringeworthy to evaluate. Every year we see non-white QBs get hyped up during the college football season and over the past 5 or so years many have stuck around as bottom feeder practice squad/3rd stringer type camp arms. I always wonder how many of these QBs take away oppourtunities from better white players. The college game has really developed into it's own type of football - alot more half field reads, zone option looks and QB relying on their legs (only non-white QBs seem to be celebrated for this).


My initial rankings only include Seniors so that is why you will see some big names omitted from the first list. Looking over this list now it will get deeper once some underclassmen declare.



QB Will Grier West Virginia 6'2 223

Grier is my number 1 QB going into the season. He poessesses the self-confidence, arm talent, accuracy, vertical passing ability and athleticism to be a top 10 pick. He started his career as a freshman at Florida until a mysterious ban for a positive PED test caused him to be suspended (I believe he went 4-1 as a RS Freshman at UF). Due to a lack of support from the now fired Jim McElwain he decided to transfer, sit out a year and re-emerged in 2017 one of the best QBs in the country. He is off to a hot start this year as well and looks to be on track to cement his status as a first round pick.



QB Drew Lock Missouri 6'4 225

Lock has improved every year which is always a good sign - his completion precentage jumped from 49% to 55% to 58%. Two games into his senior campaign he is at 74% with an 8-0 TD/INT ratio. He will need to keep up his strong start to keep his stock high. I think he is in the Jared Goff mold in terms of the type of prospect he is. Rooting for him to have a strong senior season.


QB Ryan Finley NC State

Finley is more of a pocket passer than anything. He relies on an accurate short to mid passing game. His arm is not a cannon but is more than serviceable. He is in his third year as a starter with plenty of experience with 18 wins on his resume. For those who care he should cross off all of the Parcells rules for drafting a QB after his senior season. I feel that Chad Pennington is a good comparison for Finley.


QB Clayton Thorson Northwestern 6'4 225

Thorson tore his ACL in Northwestern's bowl game in December. He currently seems to be on a bit of a "pitch count" splitting time with TJ Green. That would indicate the he is not 100%. He played well against Purdue. He is a big, athletic QB with good arm strength but sometimes makes questionable decisions. Hopefully he continues to get healthier and is able to be the full time starter by October and finish the season strong. He more talented then both Mike Kafka and Trevor Semien - two NW QBs who have made it to the NFL in recent years.


QB Nick Fitzgerald Miss St. 6'5 230

Nick Fitzgerald is essentially the next Tim Tebow. His stock has probably taken a bit of hit with his one game suspension to start off the season. Hopefully he can improve his accuracy and throw the ball more this year. At this point I am very pessimistic about any white dual threat QB being drafted highly. If he can develop as a passer and be seen in more of a Carson Wentz mold that will only help his draft projections. At his point Fitzgerald's stock and go either way depending on how the season plays out. I hope to see him viewed as a QB rather than be forced to predictably switch positions to TE.




"Undersized Prospects"

This class boasts some intriguing QB prospects that are considered a little undersized. QBs Jake Browning, Brett Rypien and Trace McSorely have all been very productive during their careers. Although none of them have the arm strength of Baker Mayfield I do feel they are draftable mid-round talents with exceptional production and leading their respective teams to several victories over the course of their careers.


Small School Prospects

The two big names that stick out to me are Arkansas St QB Justice Hansen (6'4 224) and North Dakota St QB Easton Stick (6'2 221). Hansen is an Oklahoma transfer who has gone on to have a very productive career at Arkansas St. Easton Stick was the heir apparent to Carson Wentz at NDSU and I think that will help generate some increased interest in him during the draft season.

Just reading some of the weenie world CFB analysis - it looks like the two hyped up black quarterbacks for 2019 are the OSU QB and Buffalo QB. The OSU QB has played in 3 games and they are labeling him a 1st round pick. The Buffalo QB does not have a full season under his belt. They are desperate.

Tony Pauline goes back to back weeks in describing white LBs as "sleeper" prospects. Sent him a tweet to ask as to why the cliches are being used . Let's see if I get banned by twitter.


Sleeper Prospect- Connor Strachan/LB/Boston College: We graded Strachan as a free agent entering the season despite the fact he was limited to just two games a year ago due to injury. During his junior season of 2016, Strachan was an active linebacker who constantly played smart, productive football. The early returns are positive as Strachan led all defenders with 15 tackles in the contest against ACC foe Wake Forest on Thursday night. He won’t impress scouts during pre-draft workouts rather Strachan will be a productive situational linebacker with the ability to play special teams at the next level.

Renfrow actually getting some positive press. Weenieworld incorrectly lists Kupp as being 6'4" when he is 6'2" but I would expect nothing less from a mediocre hack site like weenieworld.

The Draft Network's Benjamin Solak believes that Clemson redshirt senior WR could be the next Cooper Kupp.

Kupp has quietly developed into one of the stars of the Rams' dynamic offense, and while Renfrow doesn't have the same type of size as Kupp (6'4 to 5'10), he has the type of skill set to transfer to the next level in Solak's eyes. "It’s a marriage of quickness and explosiveness to take sharp breaks that challenge cornerbcks’ leverage; body control and flexibility to run complex, multi-break routes; spatial awareness and intuition to fill in the gaps between zone coverage," writes Solak. "It’s a knacky thing, difficult to teach but undeniable when on tape. Kupp has it, and so does Renfrow. They just get open." If teams see similar comparisons between the two, there's a good chance that Renfrow will go in the middle rounds come 2019.

"Not to spook everyone but 2019 is an especially important NFL draft for white WRs. Right now my best calculations have the number running anywhere as low as one up to four. In my mind though there are seven worthy candidates and each one is worthy of getting drafted.

But this is a precarious ordeal because if things fall apart in 2019 then we are looking through a dark tunnel ahead. As of now the establishment has zero white WR candidates for the 2020 NFL Draft." Shadowlight

Max Scharping NIU Left Tackle. 6'6 320. 39 career starts. Scouts will no doubt be itching to kick him inside to Guard or to Right Tackle.

I See Nick Fitzgerald as the next Matt Jones. Tall, fast. Less of a bruiser than tebow.

When watching Taysom Hill against the Redskins I kept thinking what a nifty idea. Put a versatile athlete who can either pass, run, catch or block in the offense and move him all around. Why didn't anyone think of this earlier? At least in recent memory.

Of course one would have figured what Hill is doing would be done by a running black QB instead but thankfully that is not the case here.

I don't want to get ahead of things. Hill is still used marginally. I suspect he will thrive because it offers a new look for defenses that causes problems since he can do so much. And perhaps his overall touches per game will go up?

The next question is will Hill represent a trend or a blip? To me I would think creative offensive coaches would welcome a multi threat option like Hill.

With that in mind I see possibly three players who could stick to NFL teams who want to utilize a Hill type player. Keep in mind Hill, who is already 28, was never drafted. Released by the Packers miraculously the usual caste minded Saints got creative and gave him a special role this season. Last season he was their ST mascot. I would hope at least two of the three mentioned below, unlike Hill, get drafted.

Why shouldn't teams draft multi purpose QB/RB/WR/ST players like Hill. Below are three QBs who might fit that role.

1-Nick Fitzgerald. I see Matt Jones mentioned above. I don't believe Fitzgerald has that kind of speed but he has size and knows how to run. Think of a faster Tim Tebow perhaps?

2-Eric Dungey. Injury prone but he is fast and packs a punch. Hard to see him as a regular NFL QB but as a slash RB type he fits the mold.

3-McKenzie Milton. Lacks the size of the above two but is a more polished passer than Dungey and is also a terrific runner.

Not sure any of the above have quite Taysom Hill's speed but I suspect they run in the 4.5-4.6 range.

NFL I say bring them on.

The Taysom Hill effect should be interesting to see. I feel Fitzgerald would be the main beneficiary of Hill's contributions this year. If Tebow had decided to be open to being more of a "gadget" type player than focusing solely on QB who knows what could of happened however they wanted to make Tebow an H-back/TE rather than make him an RB.

Matt Jones was a legitimate athletic freak though - I think he was a totally different player than Fitzgerald. Jones played prior to all of the zone/read option offenses in college football. So much of his game was improvisational when it came to running - I would of loved to see him play in a spread option offense. Fitzgerald's combine performance should be interesting - if he runs well enough perhaps a team would consider him at WR but the typical caste move is to bulk up whitey and move them to TE.

McKenzie Milton is alot of fun to watch - I do not think he has the size/arm talent to be a next level QB but he has a spot in the NFL. His body type is that of a WR or dare I say CB.

Overall I am still trying to gauge the 2019 draft class - the QB position outside of Herbert/Grier is a toss up and they are pushing black quarterbacks more and more as the season goes along. Also the TE class once again appears to be very black (I made a comment about McShay having 4/5 blacks at the TE position). For those of us here who recall the 2017 draft as being the most athletic TE draft class ever - that was the storyline being fed by the caste media. Meanwhile Njoku and Howard are not living up to their 1st round status and several others have become afterthoughts. The best TE from that draft appears to be uber-athletic George Kittle.

Purdue Sr QB David Blough is legit and completely under-the-radar. Halfway through the 3rd Qtr against Illini right now he's 21-27 for 338 yards and 3 TDs.

I saw a blurb last night while flipping through the ESPN alphabet soup where even Caste clown Mel Kiper had all whites in the top 5 QBs for the 2019 draft. Hopefully things stay that way and none of the black quarterback hype jobs gain traction.
