With the success of several young white Europeans in the NBA recently, I thought about this questions. I recently was researching one of the latest young talents, Domantas Sabonis. His father, Arvydas is Lithuanian, but his son, Domantas was born in Portland, OR. Is Domantas considered a White American Player? So, could this possibly create an avenue for future White American NBA players? I realize we're talking years down the road, and a lot of things have to play out, but I think it's an interesting topic.
Here are just a few talented young Europeans in the NBA.

Domantas Sabonis, IND. 21 year old. AVG. 12/8, generally gets a double, double when he starts!
Lauri Markkanen, CHI. 20 year old, Possibly the NBA ROY, 20 years old. AVG. 15.2/7.6
Kristaps Porzingis, NYK . 22 year old. The most talented of them all, right now, AVG. 23/7 and leading the NBA in blocks per game at 2.3!
Nikola Jokic, DEN. 22 year old. Averaging a double/double at 15/10 and 5 assists per game. Gets a triple double on occasion.
Jusuf Nurkic, POR. 23 year old AVG. 15/8
I probably missed some, so feel free to add. I listed those that came to my mind first.

BTW, some NBA mock drafts have 18 year old Slovenian, Luka Doncic as high as the number 2 pick. There are several others in the first two rounds that should go this year.
Maybe it's just a dream. I don't know, but thought it would be an interesting discussion. Thoughts?

I don't understand the question.....
That makes two of us jacknyc. I guess I was reaching. I thought that maybe with more and more Europeans coming in, and they would reside here in the US after their playing days were over would have children like in the case of Sabonis and his son Domantas being born in Portland. Is he considered American, because he was born here. I know, it still doesn't make much sense. Again, just reaching, I guess. Sorry. Too much time on my hands.
BTW, Arvydas Sabonis left the US after his playing days and went to the coast of Spain, where his son Domantas grew up playing, I think that's accurate.

Okay, I got it now.
Well, my answer is that would help a little.
If your dad played pro basketball and you have his genes, plus his knowledge and experience to learn from, then you definitely have a head start in making it to the NBA.
On the other hand, I don't think it is talent that is keeping white American players from making it to the NBA.
I think the Europeans have more opportunity to get playing time and learn the fundamentals vs Americans, who have to play with blacks, who take away their playing time, and who play a street ball type of game.

This already happened in hockey with many Canadians staying in American cities and their sons who were born in raised in American cities playing for team USA. The Howe sons always played for USA hockey. Brett Hull who was born in Canada had deep resentment towards the Canadian management of their national team as he was viewed as a long shot prospect until he suddenly emerged as star for St. Louis, Brett never played a game for team Canada because of managements poor views on his previous abilities. So your idea probably has merit.

I'd say yes, remember we all were originally from Europe!

You explained it perfectly!

I remember when I was in High School I was the only white on our HS team, because some of my friends/peers didn't want or think they could play with the Blacks.

How good is this Luka Donkik? Many mock drafts have him at #1 in the 2018 draft.

Luka Donkik is amazing. He reminds me of an old school Toni Kukoc but I think in the long run he will have an even better career. Maybe a little Petrovic in his game. Donkik has unlimited range and elite athleticism to succeed at the the next level. Love watching this kid play. Just like Porzingis, this kid is a sure thing if a team drafts him high and plays him big minutes every night. Thanks for posting this great video!

Donkik is unbelievable! I'd love to see him come in to the league and be a total thorn in the side of the wretched caste system like Larry Bird was. But the thing about Larry was, he would trash talk Blacks right under the table and put up 40 on anybody. He wasn't afraid of a single negro on the court his entire career, and he made it clear to them. That's the only thing most Blacks understand, the whip.

And so the real Brutal, after playing the part of the hurt innocent earlier in the day, reveals himself in all his warped glory.

I deleted his post as he used a pornographic image as his avatar.

Tell us more about your career as a White sprinter and cornerback. ;)
