The Braves young star first baseman Freddie Freeman hit another homerun today, tying for the MLB lead with 14. Freeman's putting together a potential career year which is quite impressive considering the lack of protection in the Atlanta lineup.

When I think of Freeman, I can't help but recall Jason Heyward. Both players were brought up from the minors in the same season but one received a ton of hype. I'll leave you to guess which player. In fact the hype surrounding Heyward became so absurd that the fake sports media began comparing him to Hank Aaron. Fast forward to the current year and Freeman is the cornerstone of the Braves while Heyward is a mediocre player on his 3rd team. However, you'd never know by Heyward's paycheck as he's massively overpaid.
I've been wanting to post more about Freeman, just haven't had the time lately. Thanks Freethinker. I've mentioned before that Freeman's stats are better than Jim Thome's at this point in his career and Thome went on to hit over 600 HR's.

Freeman is out for 10 weeks now - probably won't be back until August. He was hit by a pitch and fractured his wrist. In the same game Kevin Pillar called a Braves pitcher a f_ggot and has been suspended two games by the MLB. Also, in that game Jose Bautista displayed that supposed Latino emotion again that BSPN just drivels over and says is good for the game which it is not. He hit a HR and proceeded to stare down the pitcher and than do an obnoxious bat flip. Luckily white Braves 2B Jace Peterson gave him a talking to as did catcher Kurt Suzuki. Bautista is a real annoying presence in baseball and I have no doubt that he did do PEDs when you look at his career numbers.

Mike Trout showing the East Coast why he's the best player in MLB., is 2 - 2, D, HR, 3 RBI,SB and 2 BB's. against the NY Mets! Trout has now reached base in 38 of 40 games! I can't say it enough, we are witnessing the most complete player in the history of MLB! This man does it all, all the time! What's more, is that he's doing it on a terrible team. It's mind blowing to think what he would do if he were on a team on a team like Colorado, Arizona, or Washington!

HR's last night:
Trout, LAA. 15th, now shares the league lead!
Harper, WAS. 14th
Conforto, NYM. (2) 13th
Lamb, ARZ. 12th
Bour, MIA. 12th
Blackmon, COL. (2) 11th
Rizzo, CHI. 9th
Trout is now tied or leads the league in HR's, BA., OBP., SLG., OPS., and OPS+!...and of course WAR!

Interestingly, HR and K rates are both at historic highs thus far in 2017. The modern day batter is swinging for the fences like no time in history.
I don't know about the rest of the league, but Mike Trout's K's are down 3% this year and he's swinging at the first pitch 15% more, laying off the high pitches and he's at a higher BA. and is hitting more HR's. I posted some of these stats on the MT thread. A lot of interesting articles on how and why MT keeps getting better on a terrible team. Barring catastrophe, we are witnessing quite possibly the greatest MLB player of all time. Ty Cobb is my all time favorite player and I consider him the best and one of the most intelligent players, though I could easily argue for Ruth, but Trout is Cobb with more power. (BTW, Cobb had power and was a genius!), he just happen to play in the dead ball era)

A$$wipe groidian Braves "security" takes ball from young White kid. These untermenschen always get an attitude when given any semblance of "power". :shakehead:

Thankfully, the Braves are going to give the youngster a signed ball. :)

I saw that. Imagine if the security guard was white and the man and kid were black. Think of the fake racism cries that would be coming from everywhere.

Trout smashes his MLB leading 16th HR 443ft. today against the Marlins!
Harper hit his 15th HR last night!
I'm loving that these two men are the most dominant players in MLB! Plus Kershaw, Kuechel, and Strasburg dominating the pitching scene.

Another possible injury taking MLB's best player out! Mike Trout jammed his thumb stealing 2nd base yesterday. The good news is, X rays show no fracture. An MRI will be done today to determine soft tissue damage. He could be out 1 0r 2 days or put on the DL. Should know something later today.
Trout was leading the league in 8 major categories at the time of his injury, including HR's, SLG., Total Bases, and WAR.

With the exception of a torn ACL which would have been worse, the Mike Trout thumb injury has officially ended any good cheer I had left for the summer which truth be told wasn't in high supply anyway. Trout, as noted here at caste was off to a terrific start, will be out roughly two months but there is a good chance he doesn't regain his form until next season. Talk about bummer to the nth degree. It takes all the air out of me. And I am not pleased that speedster deluxe SS Trea Turner is off to an awful start at the plate either. And CF David Dahl is nowhere to be seen. Mysterious back ailments? The top of the stolen bases charts is still being ruled by black guys like Hamilton and Gordon. Has the God of justice and balance left the building? Have we entered the black hole in the universe where all signs of joy have been eradicated? Granted there is still some white life out there in baseball this season but when white players start to evaporate from the sports scene I get this feeling of eerie emptiness and I start to despise everything about the sports world. Speaking of fed up whatever happened to member Beyond Fed Up or is the name itself self explanatory? I do wonder at times like these why I remain a sports fan. There may come a day.

Yep! Trout, Harper, and Kershaw were going to get me through the sports world this summer along with Spieth or Johnson in Golf. Has there been this many MLB STARS injured this early and often? Here's the injured list, but there may be more of note. Feel free to add:
1. Madison Bumgarner. He only hit 2 HR's on opening day. That's all!
2. Mitch Haniger, was leading the league in RUNS, OBP. and WAR when he went down.
3. Adam Eaton, was having a solid year for the white friendly Nationals.
4. Freddie Freeman, already a solid unsung player was really having a great year. Near or at the top of most offensive categories.
5. Mike Trout, quite possibly the greatest player of our time goes down.
Yes there is still some life with Harper and Kershaw, but Trout being out just stinks, because he was on track to break so many records and already had broken some. Now we'll just have to wait and see.
BTW, 9 of the top 10 NL BA. leaders are white and 16/17 of the top 20. The AL is a different story especially when Trout no longer qualifies only one white player in the AL top 10 BA. Tampa Bay's Cory Dickerson holds the number 1 spot for now and only 5 in the top 20.

Trout already had double-digit stolen bases this season. A couple of years ago, his manager seemed like he was holding him back from stealing, but thankfully seemed to back off last year and this year. Makes his injury even harder to stomach.

6. AL MVP Josh Donaldson! I knew I was forgetting someone.

The dbacks and dodgers have a lot of quality white players - Drury, Owings, Lamb, Goldie, Seager, Bellinger, Pederson, Turner and a resurgent Utley.

Don't get to down about some of the big names currently injured because their are a lot of other guys to root for.

The Mike Trout injury has made the MLB a perpetually gray skies ordeal. No more getting up in the middle of the night checking out the Angels' stats on the MLB network. No more feeling good after Trout has a good game. It took a few days to break the habit but every time I saw the Angels emblem I would perk up until I realized Trout is not around. SERIOUS BUMMER!!!
That said Trea Turner had a terrific game last night and hopefully he is starting to shake off the cobwebs of a slow start to the season. Last night he went 3-4 with 3 stolen bases. And he made a stellar play at short showing top grade quickness,
range, agility and arm strength to rob a hitter of a base hit. It was the best defensive play I have seen yet this year.
And "Gardy went Yardy" for the Yankees giving him 13 on the year so far!!
The White Sox called up Adam Engel and he had two hits and stole two bases last night. He is not seen as a top flight or even medium ranged prospect (think of a stronger Billy Burns) but he has speed to burn so let us hope he sticks. Charlie Blackmon continues to play well and Billy Hamilton went 0-5. So all in all not a bad night but there is no way of replacing Mike Trout.

Phillies legend Mike Schmidt lands in (contrived) "hot water" for making a truthful statement about afrolete yOdubel Herrera. Complete BS.

http://fox43.com/2017/06/06/phillie...ents-on-odubel-herrera-land-him-in-hot-water/

I notice two things about that article. First, the leading critic appears to be (((Ken Rosenthal))) no surprise there, and someone named (((Winkelman)))?

Second, the article appears to twist what Schmidt said. It states that Herrera uses an interpreter "at times" for interviews, so it seems that Schmidt's main issue is that Herrera can't speak English at all, or very little. But the article says Schmidt's issue is that Herrera "does not speak English as his first language." Did Schmidt actually say that his issue with Herrera is that English isn't his first language? It doesn't appear so. There are plenty of baseball players and people in general who speak English very well even though it isn't native to them. There's a huge difference between criticizing someone because English isn't their first language, and criticizing someone who can't speak English at all or very little. It appears from this article at least that what Schmidt said was distorted (made into fake news) in order to paint him in the worst possible light to make it easier for Rosenthal and his comrades to jump all over him as a "bigot."
