I don't like this fight at all as it is more of circus type element than a legitimate fight. Mayweather who isn't afraid to duck a challenge at welterweight or junior middleweight is too eager to fight a novice pro in McGregor. I don't fault McGregor for this fight as it could be what he would make in 10 UFC fights for one night of being schooled by Mayweather.......http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...-fight-conor-mcgregor-getting-very-very-close

Another stunt by mayweather to con fans out of their money. Unfortunately I think McGregor stands very little chanc of winning in pure boxing terms. Financially I don't blame him and I hope he gets a big payday if nothing else. Maybe he can land a big punch and knock mayweather out cold with millions watching.

Doubt this actually happens and I really hope this talk of a "mega fight" dies down. If it ever came to fight night Gayweather will dance around the whole fight throwing his kitten paw punches and McGregor will be swinging at air. Its just stupid and a publicity stunt. Finding it harder to be a fan of the boisterous IrishMan every time he opens his mouth. All he cares about is $$. Him and Gayweather have more in common than they know!

Make it a boxing match with 5 rds and the small MMA gloves. McGregor will indeed have a chance in winning or KO'ing Mayweather.

With boxing rules, McGregor has no chance.

With MMA rules, he would easily beat Mayweather.

They are two very different sports. Way back in 1976 they billed Clay vs Inoki and Andre the Giant vs Chuck Wepner as legit boxer vs wrestler fights, "shoots", real. But the black moslems made some deal with the Japanese yakuza that they want Inoki on the ground. Inoki was angry and took it literally so he stayed on the ground all night. Wrestling insiders say that inoki was so good that had the fight really been for real he would have had clay down and in a submission hold within 5 seconds. as it was clay suffered permanent damage to his legs from inokis ground kicks and he could do nothing to a man sliding along the mat.

Wepner was half the size of Andre. Andre, who was not a nice person in real life, brutalized Wepner fighting dirty and seriously tried to maim him or kill him. he used his giant head to head butt him as hard as he could and then lifted up the much smaller man and tossed him out of the ring not easy but again as hard as he could. Two very ugly exhibitions. Two very different sports. so let Mayweather box and McGregor do his thing, like in '76 again, but keep it straight this time. otherwise I think it's stupid.

If you employed MMA stand up rules with even boxing gloves he would have a chance. Jawwny Ruiz used this bending of the rules to win a WBA belt and make a few horribly brutal defenses against an assortment of King stable paper contenders.

Ps. the only reason this fight is in discussion is because Mayweather can dictate the terms of the match. Also the only reason he is "retired" is because CBS/Showtime balked at giving him an inflated guarantee to pick and choose a paper contender that he can beat. The Pacman fight aside Gayfeather has been a bomb at the box office because of the inflated guarantee for Mayweather.

A lot of blather by both. A mixed martial arts fighter versus a boxer. Gosh, who would win in their respective sports? Why not a soccer player versus a hockey player in a game of hockey, or vice-versa? Well, they don't need everyone to form a crowd of fools.

Those two 1976 things proved that boxer-wrestler doesn't work at all, at least not without making some all new very special rules.

Honestly surprised this fight is happening. It's stupid to me. McGregor will lose a decision, collect his massive payday and retire. But I guess thats what he wants!

Once I heard the figures thrown around of 8 figures for both combatants, this fight was getting made no matter what. I still don't get it, but this fight reminds of the blue in the face debates we had at recess over Bruce Lee vs Muhammad Ali in grade school recess and lunch time debates.

Some of you here may disagree with me, but I feel we all have an obligation to ignore this fight. This is basically a sports manifestation of the kardashian show. This isn't about who is the best welterweight or giving fans a great fight. This is 100% about money and by making this fight happen I believe they are insulting us, thinking we are dense enough to pay and watch.

I hope whoever is dumb enough to pay for this fight gets to watch as there is a knockout in like 10 seconds. If there was such a thing as a 200th degree black belt they would still have no chance against a well trained boxer.

I think Mayweather will carry Connor for 3-4 rds for the people who paid to see the fight, then KO him, I agree there is no way an MMA fighter can box with a seasoned pro boxer....

I think Conor will take a dive or its so rigged. Mayweather wouldn't agree to this stuff if it wasn't in the bag in some way. I would love for Conor to win for mere caste busting purposes, Even though I really don't like the guy talking about Conor. In a clean fair fight boxing Connor would have a good chance, in MMA he would own him. But this is going to be a made for tv special with a script probably, it eeks of it.

Conner has at most 4 to 5 rounds to make something dramatic happen. After that, he is in survival mode. I have seen his quick hands. Add that Floyd is 40 yrs, it could be a recipe for disaster for Floyd. I really hope Conner can lay him out cold.

in an MMA fight McGregor destroys Mayweather within 2 minutes. If he lands a clean shot in the boxing ring how much does the size of the boxing glove hinder his punching power? I would love to see the negro get KO'd but I doubt it will happen...

It is a fake fight in a fake venue on a fake stage with fake competitiveness for a fake sport. The only reason this event is taking place is to fleece the fack out of as many fools as possible. Obviously Connor would demolish Weasel in a real fight and obviously Connor can't box with one of the best defensive boxers of his era.
