The NBA season tips off tonight and there appears to be some interesting teams and story lines to follow so let's get this thread going. I’ll provide some commentary in a follow-up post to keep this initial entry trim as possible. Here are Caste Football’s teams to support for the 14/15 season.

Point System:
3 points for a White starter (S)
2 points for a White rotational reserve (R)
1 point for a White non-rotation reserve / benchwarmer (B)

(INJ) Indicates a player who is injured for a significant amount of time and he is NOT included in the teams point total

Bonuses:

Alpha / team leader / All-star (+2)
15+ point scorer or 8+ rebounder or 6+ assister (+1)

Most White & Watchable

New York Knicks, 16: J. Calderon (S), L. Amundson (S), A. Bargnani (S), A. Shved (R), Ja. Smith (R), C. Aldrich (R), T. Wear (B)

Chicago Bulls, 14: M. Dunleavy (S), P. Gasol (S)(+2), K. Hinrich (R), N. Mirotic (R), D. McDermott (B), C. Bairstow (B)
Cleveland Cavaliers, 13: *K. Love (S)(+2), T. Mozgov (S)(+1), M. Dellavedova (R), J. Harris (B), M. Miller (B), A. Varejao (R)(INJ)
*Love’s numbers down across the board in Cleveland
Memphis Grizzlies, 13: M. Gasol (S)(+2), B. Udrih (R), J. Leuer (R), K. Koufos (R), N. Calathes (R)
Minnesota Timberwolves, 13: R. Rubio (S)(+1), N. Pekovic (S)(+1), C. Budinger (R), J. Hamilton (R), R. Hummel (B)
*CF perennial favorite is no more
New Orleans Pelicans, 12

*Part Mestizo
**Have a lot of White players but many play the same position (4 and 5)

Racist but Watchable

Dallas Mavericks, 11: C. Parsons (S)(+1), *D. Nowitzki (S)(+2), J.J. Barea (R)

Houston Rockets, 6: *D. Montiejunas (S), P. Prigioni (R), K. Papanikolaou (B)

Washington Wizards, 6: *M. Gortat (S)(+1), **K. Humphries (R)
*Shame the talented Marcin helps this black squad win
**Humphries is small part black

Racist and Should Be Avoided

Indiana Pacers, 5: L. Scola (R), D. Rudez (R), *S. Whittington (B)
*UDFA from W. Michigan earned a roster spot
Sacramento Kings, 4: *N. Stauskas (R), O. Casspi (R)
*Will Kings screw over Nik like they did Jimmer?
Charlotte Hornets, 3: *C. Zeller (S)
*Starting now
Los Angeles Lakers, 3: R. Kelly (S), *S. Nash (INJ)
*Nash out for season, possibly for career; Lakers took a nose dive in the CF ranks
Phoenix Suns, 3: A. Len (S)
*Totally went in the toilet Caste-wise; Len a beast at least
Detroit Pistons, 0:
*If any city deserves an all-black squad it’s Detroit
Philadelphia 76ers, 0:
*Horrible team striving for historically worst season, yet the SPLC would be proud of the roster

*Will update as the season progresses*

Commentary

So as I discussed in another thread, the most interesting development is 2 of the Whitest teams competing for Eastern Conference supremacy.

http://www.castefootball.us/forums/showthread.php/17007-Will-Best-Teams-in-East-Be-Whitest

Along the same lines, of the teams scoring a 12 or over in my rankings, most of them should be playoff bound. Cleveland, Chicago and Portland should be in. Memphis, Brooklyn and Phoenix all have great chances. The Knicks are the least likely to be good but we'll have to see as the season rolls on.

On initial count (not including Steve Nash who is done for the year), there are 34 starters. There are 106 White players on rosters to start the year. I was generous including a few guys, but even saying 100 to be conservative, is an improvement. According to referendum (thanks!), last year was 34/99 and the year before that 32/90. So same number of starters, but the overall total is up the 3rd year straight.

With 150 starters for the 30 NBA teams, Whites are 23%.
With rosters of 15 players each, the NBA contains 450 players. Whites are 24% overall. So while improving (only 20% just 2 years ago), we still have along way to go.

Just saw the ESPN previews for tonight's game and there will be more White starters than I accounted for. +1 for Orlando as Ridnour should start. +1 for San Antonio as Bellinelli will be starting for injured Leonard. Bonner starting for Splittler (hurt) but that's a push. Dallas v. San Antonio features 4 White starters and is a good way to start the season!

PS, I won't update my starters list yet as I need more sample size and how things shake out.

Thank you again Freethinker for this preview of teams to support and players to look for. After I saw last year's preview I found myself interested in the NBA again after about 25 years of not paying it any attention what so ever!

As you said there's a long way to go, but the NBA is improving for us unlike the NFL.

I'll give performance information as much as I can after each night's games are finishing up especially in the midwest and on the east coast. If anyone else wants to report scoring, rebounding, assists, etc. that would be great. We had several guys reporting stats last year.

We already have the makings of some good performances this evening!

Vucevic, OR. 13/20
Asik, NOP. 12/12
Belinelli, SA. 12 pts.
Nowitzki, DAL. 10/5
Anderson, NOP. 11/7

Most of these stats are games still in the 3rd quarter.

I'll update how these guys finish or as I said anyone else chime in on stats. I don't stay up as late I use to, so I would like to see how our players finish up as I check CF each morning.

Great job Freethinker!

CS, your work updating us on player performances does not go unnoticed. Thank you.

Ryan Anderson is only 26 years old even though it seems he's been around forever. If he can get over his pretty serious injuries, he should be entering some prime years. His coming off the bench doesn't bother me. He's a PF and he's behind Anthony Davis, a legitimately excellent player. In only 22 minutes, Ryan took 22 shots. A shot a minute is unheard of so it seems he's got the green light and will get a chance to be a high scorer.

I like the Pelicans team a good deal. Asik is monster in the paint as evident by his 17 rebound, 5 block night. Jimmer had a poor shooting night but got 18 minutes and was a +3 overall. Withey and Babbitt got some burn too. I hope they can get into the rotation.

Nikola Vucevic, who just turned 24 this week, will be an all-star this year if he can stay healthy. Looking over the roster, there are no other strong rebounders in Orlando. He could grab 15 boards a night! His blocks were also encouraging as he averaged under 1 per game last year. I'll predict he gets that number closer to 2 per game this year.

I'm also excited to watch the Suns, Bulls, Warriors, Twolves and Jazz. All of these teams have two starters and more off the bench. Chicago might be the best team to watch overall. They are loaded top to bottom.

Thanks Freethinker for your time & research + the breakdown...Fantastic job!

Justin Hamilton made the Miami Heat opening day roster too...

Could it be the Cavs & Mavs in the NBA Finals this season??

Would be curious to see an All CF NBA Team...the Forward & Center spots are stacked!

Thanks for the heads up and sorry I missed your boy from LSU. I was vaguely familiar with him but overlooked him because his name sounds sorta black I guess.

So 107 White guys in the NBA this year. Still 24%. Does anyone know what percentage of the NFL is White? The 2 leagues seem to be closing the gap.

PS - I'll give my selection for an All CF Team (probably 2 or 3 units) once we're a few weeks into the season.

Freethinker, thanks for taking time to put together that analytical breakdown sir! I've not been following the NBA in recent years, but with/via threads like this...I'm tempted to maybe (re)start. ;-)

Looking @ this list of top performers.. Spaniards & Eastern Europeans.. It reinforces my personal belief that the (aspiring pro) athletes facing the most institutionalized racial discrimination are White American kids working to play in the NBA. All the good, homegrown guys who have great college careers & then disappear before, or at, the pro level.
Maybe Caucasian defensive backs have an equally, or greater, uphill battle, but..

I watched a good amount of this game while switching back and forth to game 7 of the WS. The Bulls are going to be a good team. They share the ball, play tough defense and now have outside shooting with McDermott and Mirotic. All the White athletes for Chicago played well except for Dunleavy. He was just off, even missing a fairly easy layup at one point. I wouldn't be shocked if McDermott becomes the starting SF at some point later this season.

The Knicks received bad news with Calderon being hurt. Jason Smith also didn't start after reports earlier said he would. They started 5 brothas and got smashed. Aldrich played well when called upon in the 2nd half. He was a menace on the boards. Now NY gets to face the other White powerhouse tonight, Cleveland. They should get smashed again by Love and Co.

AA, I think you are right about the Europeans and I believe this has been discussed at CF before. If you are a White kid and want to play high level basketball you have to usually play in leagues with, or, against teams with alot of blacks. With that you have to put up with the TNB that follows. Many kids / teens, or better yet their parents, simply do not want to put up with that mess. The Euro guys get to develop without the hostile and toxic atmosphere.

What I like about this year is that there are some good white players in the NBA eastern conference, instead of most of them bunched in the NBA west. Also, for a little while a few years back I remember hearing that the Darko Milicic draft "bust" (he should have been drafted deeper in the first round, not number 3) would lead to less Europeans coming into the NBA. Fortunatly this hasn't happened and Euros are still streaming into the league.

Thanks for the update carolina speed. Vucevic is monster on both ends of the court. I really enjoy watching him play.

So happy Dirk finally has a forward along side him who can play. Chandler Parsons is one of the most underrated players in the nba. He is
so long, athletic and he can really shoot along with taking guys off the dribble.

Glad to Pekovic and Rubio get a win for Minnesota. I wonder how they feel about the team now though. They even cut Rubio and now he is back with the Mavs. Sved is gone. Love and too many guys to mention. They didn't even play Chase Budinger at all last night. So they are watchable with two starters but just barely. I hate how quickly they broke up the team.

Oct. 31 top performances....

Hinrich, CHI. 20 pts.
Dunleavy, CHI. 14/9/8, always have been disappointed in MD. He could've been so much more.
P. Gasol, CHI. 15/9/3

Love, CLE. 16/16, shot 5-17. KL hasn't shot well early or could've had great performances.

M. Gasol, MEM. 20/6

Redick, LAC. 15/3/3, like Love, Redick hasn't shot well early, hopefully he will pick it up!

The Bulls won a close game against the Twolves. Fun to watch. Gasol had 20 and Mirotic had 14 points as did Heinrich. The Bulls should
be 3-0 but they choked the game in O.T. last night to the Cavs.

Most White & Watchable

Cleveland Cavaliers, 17: *K. Love (S)(+2),**A. Varejao (S)(+1), M. Dellavedova (R), J. Harris (R), M. Miller (R), A. Kirk (B), L. Amundson (B)
*Love’s numbers likely to suffer with James and Irving scoring and Varejao rebounding
**Varejao may not be fully White; rebounding machine

Brooklyn Nets, 15: B. Bogdanovic (S), *B. Lopez (S)(+2), A. Kirilenko (R), **M. Teletovic (R), **Ma. Plumlee (R), S. Karasev (B)
*Lopez is part mestizo
**Garnett will be starter in name only, Mirza and Mason will get a lot of minutes

Chicago Bulls, 14: M. Dunleavy (S), P. Gasol (S)(+1), K. Hinrich (R), D. McDermott (R), N. Mirotic (R), C. Bairstow (B)
New York Knicks, 13: J. Calderon (S)(+1), *Ja. Smith (S), A. Bargnani (R), P. Prigioni (R), C. Aldrich (B), **T. Wear (B)
*Jason named starter, at least until Bargnani is healthy
**UDFA Travis Wear surprisingly made the squad with a good preseason; Phil Jackson said good things about him but he’ll be in the D League to work on his defense; This is the Whitest Knicks team in my 20+ years of following them

Memphis Grizzlies, 12: M. Gasol (S)(+2), B. Udrih (R), *J. Leuer (R), K. Koufos (R), N. Calathes (B)
*I expect Jon to have his best season, finally entrenched in the rotation
Phoenix Suns, 12: *G. Dragic (S)(+2), Mi. Plumlee (S), A. Len (R), S. Randolph (B), Z. Dragic (B)
*Goran should make the All Star team this year after being snubbed last season
Portland Trail Blazers, 12: *R. Lopez (S)(+1), S. Blake (R), J. Freeland (R), C. Kaman (R), M. Leonard (B), V. Claver (B)
*Part Mestizo
**Have a lot of White players but many play the same position (4 and 5)

Racist but Watchable

Golden State Warriors, 11: D. Lee (S)(+2), A. Bogut (S)(+1), N. Nedovic (B), O. Kuzmic (B)
*Bogut leads the team in rebounds, struggles to stay healthy
Minnesota Timberwolves, 11: R. Rubio (S)(+1), N. Pekovic (S)(+1), C. Budinger (R), R. Hummel (B)
*Have to see how Bud and Hummel’s playing time unfolds but the CF perennial favorite is rapidly darkening
New Orleans Pelicans, 11: O. Asik (S)(+1), R. Anderson (R)(+1), *J. Fredette (R), L. Babbitt (B), J. Withey (B)
*Jimmer had a good preseason and will come off the bench as a PG or SG
San Antonio Spurs, 11: T. Splitter (S), M. Ginobili (R), M. Belinelli (R), A. Baynes (R), M. Bonner (R)
*Can't ever figure this rotation out but every White guy gets minutes occasionally
Dallas Mavericks, 10: C. Parsons (S)(+1), *D. Nowitzki (S)(+2), J.J. Barea (B)
*Dirk paired with 1[SUP]st[/SUP] White star since days of Nash long ago
Denver Nuggets, 9: D. Gallinari (S)(+1), *T. Mozgov (S), J. Nurkic (R)
*If Tim can get the minutes, expect huge rebounding numbers
Utah Jazz, 9: *G. Hayward (S)(+1), E. Kanter (S), S. Novak (B), J. Ingles (B)
*24 year old Gordon does it all (scores, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals)
Los Angeles Clippers, 8: J.J. Redick (S)(+1), *S. Hawes (R)(+1), H. Turkoglu (B)
*Hawes will get big minutes off bench; With racist Jew Sterling gone, the Clips actually sign Whites
Toronto Raptors, 8: *J. Valanciunas (S)(+1), G. Vasquez (R), T. Hansbrough (B), G. Stiemsma (B)
*22 year old Jonas ready to break out; Averaging a double-double is possible
Milwaukee Bucks, 7: E. Ilyasova (S), Z. Pachulia (R), N. Wolters (R)
*Rotation seems up in the air, check back later on this team
Oklahoma City Thunder, 7: *S. Adams (S), N. Collison (R),M. McGary (R)
*Part Pacific Islander; Could put up big rebounding and block numbers now as a starter
Atlanta Hawks, 6: K. Korver (S), P. Antic (R), M. Muscala (B)
Detroit Pistons, 6: K. Singler (S), J. Jerebko (R), L. Datome (B)
*Singler back in the starting lineup, for now…
Miami Heat, 6: J. McRoberts (S), C. Anderson (R), J. Hamilton (B)
Orlando Magic, 6
: N. Vucevic (S)(+1), L. Ridnour (R)
*Nikola ready to take next step to All-Star level; One of best young centers in the game
Washington Wizards, 6: *M. Gortat (S)(+1), **K. Humphries (R)
*Shame the talented Marcin helps this black squad win
**Humphries is small part black

Racist and Should Be Avoided

Boston Celtics, 5: *K. Olynyk (S), T. Zeller (R)
*I look for Kelly to breakout this year, 15+ points and/or 8+ boards could be on the way
Indiana Pacers, 5: L. Scola (R), *S. Whittington (R), D. Rudez (B)
*UDFA from W. Michigan earned a roster spot and should get backup minutes at center
Houston Rockets, 4: D. Montiejunas (R), K. Papanikolaou (R)
*Took a big fall in CF ranks; would be much better team if Donatas claimed starting role
Sacramento Kings, 4
: *N. Stauskas (R), O. Casspi (R)
*Will Kings screw over Nik like they did Jimmer?
Charlotte Hornets, 2: *C. Zeller (R)
*Needs to step his game up; PF spot could be his if he takes it
Los Angeles Lakers, 2: *S. Nash (S)(INJ), R. Kelly (R)
*Nash out for season, possibly for career; Lakers took a nose dive in the CF ranks
Philadelphia 76ers, 2: A. Shved (R)
*Worst team racially could be worst team record-wise too

*Will update as the season progresses*

Thanks for the list, but I always thought of the Lopez siblings as Mulattoes.

You're welcome.

I know their mother is White and the father is Cuban. Not sure what race the dad is. The Lopez twins both act very White and handle themselves in a professional manner. They are guys I root for and I see them as Caste-busters. Again you can count them or not count them. I don't care.

Worth noting Brooklyn destroyed OKC tonight, 116-85...

Bogdanovic, BRK. 12/2/2/2
Plumlee, BRK. 10/8
and Teletovic also played well too. Lots of white players on Brooklyn!

Nowitzki, 21 pts., and Parsons, 22, having big games for Dallas, while beating up on Boston in the 4th, 98-85.

M.Gasol, 16/11 as Memphis beats New Orleans. Anderson, NO. had a horrific game going 2/14, 7 points. He did have 9 boards,
