I think its long over due for this thread. Over half of the HBO affeletic hopes have jumped ship to Showtime. Where as Showtime has grown more in love with the black hopes, HBO has settled in on Euro fighters such as Kovalev, Triple G and Wlad. Tonight on Showtime, one of its new black hopes, Shawn Porter, a limited but strong and rugged fighter took on England's rising star in mallutto Kell Brook, who father BTW is White. Porter who is the IBF welterweight champ, last seen given Mallligianni a 4th round beatdown and ko, took on Brook tonight. It was a close fight but Brook got the majority decision as he deserved. He landed the more effective shots, while Porter launched ineffective aggressive and illegal blows to the back of Brook's head throughout the fight. The corrupt or blind ref never warned or obviously deducted a point from him.

But as Larry Merchant famously stated, "boxing is the theater of the unexpected". One of the judges was Andailea Byrd, the most racist incompetent judge ever, had Brook winning by 6 points! Before the fight when the judges where announced I said Brook will have to leave Porter on his back cold to win the title. The theater of the expected presented itself tonight on Showtime.

The gangsters in the shadows don't like "unexpected". They like to gamble, but they only like to win. So they hire the judges and the refs and the fighters and the tv boxing talking heads too. Wouldn't want someone on tv who goes on too much about how ridiculously crooked boxing is, like the boxing judges and refs, and how they are relatives or former cell mates or employees of Don King or some other boxing mobster. It's bad enough that they sometimes make passing remarks about bad decisions, but enough is enough, I mean really.

Porter reminds me of a poor mans Shane Mosley as he is less dynamic with his speed and power. Also I noticed Daniel Jacobs who won the WBA "regular" belt on the last Showtime broadcast was doing this fight. His statement of wanting big fights and calling out Quillan was damning as he is the mandatory for GGG yet isn't demanding a fight with him, he just about called out the phone book but GGG...

WIR you are correct. Porter is a crude version of prime and roided Mosely circa 2000 to 2003. Porter thought he could over power Brook and Brook would wilt. He did not expect the counter hooks and snappy rights that wobbled him. Brook vs Khan should be a fight that will tell how good each is.

I understand Mattvey Korobov has a fight with Quillin coming up. It's very winnable for him.
This is korobov's moment. Quillin has a weak chin, but good stamina. If Korobov gets in condition and puts the pressure on, Kid Cocoa will fold like a cheap suit.

Jacobs may have survived cancer but he won't survive GGG. I don't blame him one bit for not wanting any part of him. As for Brook-Porter, kinda reminded me of Lomachenko and Russell Jr. except this fight had a lot of holding. I'm still glad another afflete was exposed though.

Shortly after Stiverne beat Arreola, he was shown sitting ringside on a Showtime boxing telecast. One of their announcers called him The HW champion of the world instead of what he really is - a HW belt holder. He never had to go through Vitali for that belt and simply had to beat Arreola to get it after Vitali retired. I hope he beats Wilder, brutally, and ends the Wilder hype but I can't wait for Wlad to unify by beating this fraud.

I know boxing very well and I can tell you positively that Peter Quillin is not very good and will be badly exposed the minute he steps up. He wouldn't last more than 3 rounds with Golovkin and quite frankly even some top30ish guys have a shot at beating him.

Quillin is not very good. His defense is spotty and his punching speed and power is also not very good. He is one of the weakest champions in all of boxing's 17 weightclasses. The only reason he has been champion for a while is because he's been fighting poor opponents.

Quillin started boxing later in life, in his 20's and only had like 20 amateur fights. So you could say he is inexperienced. Matvey Korobov on the other hand, has had more than 150 amateur fights and was twice world amateur champion.

Matvey should win this and its his fight to win. There's no reason why he shouldn't be able to stop Quillin. He should also prioritize a KO because the judges will no doubt favour the protected Amerikan fighter.

I haven't seen any of Korobov but how is his speed? I saw a few trolls post on boxingnews that he's slow. Also, I understand Postol may fight Danny garcia.

He seems decent, not a speed merchant but not slow either. The one glaring problem he seems to have is that he tends to take rounds off. One thing I found interesting was Jay Z's new boxing promotional company won the purse bid and out bid the nearest competitor by 50 percent. I don't know how the new fledgling promotion will make any money on this fight as Quillin is rather boring and Korobov is unknown by the boxing public. Or maybe it's a tax right off like horse racing is for rich businessmen?

I was just about to post that. Damn it! The cowards team are claiming he will get more money by facing Jacobs.
Truly pathetic. It's a career high purse and he turns it down. Maybe he has Adonis Stevens as a financial advisor..:scared:

Tonight on Showtime Boner will have a easy touch to regain his confidence after his epic beatdown by El Chino last December. Also on the Card will be Luke Matessay, the Argentinian fighter who lost a close fight to Garcia. Looking forward to his fight.

It is so clear that Quillian and his slave master Haymon have absolutely no confidence in him. He had 1.4 million on the table, championship fight against a credible opponent. He left it all on the table and walked! Absolute fraud and coward.

Yet they claim he would have gotten more in a fight with Jacobs.

Mattesayee back in beast mode. Unreal left hook liver shot put his opponent away in the 2nd round. He wants a rematch with Garcia if he refuses, then he wants to bust Boner's ass.

Broner struggled tonight against the C-level Taylor.

If they fight, Matthysse will knock him out.

Correct. Taylor was tagging Boner all night, but he could crack an egg shell. Taylor down fall was his lack of power. He was a throwback black fighter similar to a Marvin Hagler, with out the thudding power to hurt. Matthysse has thudding power and a good jab.

Luis Ortiz just won a splintered paper WBA interim heavyweight belt( there are 3 belts issued by one organization). He is now the mandatory challenger for Ruslan Chagaev and based off of their recent form I would tab him the betting favorite when they meet in the ring. He is huge and hits hard but hasn't had a chin check yet. Also all of his opponents have let him do what he wants and he has never had to eat a jab that Wlad springs on opponents. Aside from that he looks like tough customer for most heavyweights.

Yes, to be fair Luis Ortiz looked like a good heavyweight tonight.

Wladimir Klitschko needs qualified opponents. I think Ortiz will defeat the faded Chagaev and that will set up an interesting fight between Ortiz and Wlad for sometime in 2015.
