Yeah, BD I see Andy administering a frightful beating on Vera come 2/4. I see he with a 7th rd TKO stoppage with Vera's trainer throwing in the towel to save his fighter's life.

Vera, who is from Texas.

Sergio Martinez vs Andy Lee Likely at MSG

A deal is close to being completed for WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez to defend his title against southpaw Andy Lee in an HBO televised event at the WaMu Theatre in New York's Madison Square Garden, according to Lee's trainer and manager Emanuel Steward.

Steward revealed that Martinez's promoter Lou DiBella is currently meeting with HBO to finalize the deal for March 12.

"Lou DiBella is trying to complete the deal today. It's a natural for HBO, and he's in New York trying to work on it. But it most likely, if it goes, will be in New York," said Steward. "There are only two places that it's most logical in New York, and [those places] would be in the main arena at Madison Square Garden, or, in the small one [WaMu Theatre.] There is no way that HBO would let Martinez go to some other network."

Andy has a huge mountain to climb in beating dynamic Martinez. It should somewhat competitive for the first four rounds, then Sergio will drop the hammer something thereafter, then game over....

Andy got messed around by HBO, so now he doesn't have the Martinez fight on HBO or the Vera rematch as the headliner on ESPN. HBO initially agreed that Andy was a suitable opponent, so he withdrew from the Vera fight. The deal with Martinez was as good as signed, but HBO did a U-turn at the last moment and said Andy was no longer a suitable opponent and they wouldn't have the fight.

Sergio Mora is now fighting Vera instead, so Andy gets frozen out.

Andy should be able to steam roll Bunema, who was once considered a can't miss top tier affeletic fighter until he was ruined by Sergio Martinez.

This is a good stay busy fight for Andy. I hope he utilizes his jab and has fined tuned it from his last fight. If he is able to perfect it, and improve his head movement, he will be a major factor in the 160 lbs division.

The TKO loss to Brian Vera certainly was disappointing for Lee. Boxrec has him ranked as #6 in the world right now. Truth is, there is no way Lee is beating Martinez, Gaele, Sturm, or Pirog. I just don't see it happening. He's still a very good fighter though.

Andy beat the affelet by a UD. Like a I said a good stay busy fight, but nothing more. Reports are that Lee displayed a good jab the entire fight, so that is good. Now on to bigger and better fights.

Former middleweight world title challenger Andy Lee (30-2, 20 KOs) scored a first round knockout against Daryl Cunningham (28-5, 11 KOs) on Wednesday night at the BB King Blues Club & Grill in New York City. Lee landed a right hand that rocked Cunningham then battered him to the deck just as referee Benjy Estevez was stopping the bout.

Andy Lee needs to get back to competing at contender level, it doesn't do him justice fighting no names in rundown social clubs.

yes, that was a great KO by Lee, however, he looked bad in this fight. Getting dropped, and rocked throughout the fight. He had little balance and head movement. He and Booth are not working. He needs another trainer. Perhaps Andre Ward's trainer or Lonnie Shields. He has digressed since the passing of Manny Steward. Heck, in his fight with Chavez Jr, he was dominating a cruiser weight at the time of the fight. Against Jackson, he looked sorta like a shell of himself. He needs to 86 Booth ASAP.

Great news for Andy. But he better get a different trainer to correct his flaws from his last outing. He needs to improve his balance and perfect his jab to beat Quillin who moves a lot. He has the power to stop Quillin, he just needs to find a trainer to fine tune him. Or maybe his loss to Chavez took something away? Regardless, he better fix what was wrong from his last outing, in which his power bailed him out of a loss.

I gotta admit Im a little bit nervous for Lee in this one. Quillin isnt a joke, and Lee is one of my favorite boxers. Id hate to see him lose another one.
