Aaron Rodgers enters this year in the prime of his career. WR Jordy Nelson is how the clear cut number one guy and is also entering his prime and coming off his best season! These 2 guys alone make the Packers a must watch this season.

Bryan Bulaga returns from injury once again and will start at RT. Sutton and Lang return as the starters at guard. second year man David Bakhtiari has Mike McCarthy in his corner as he will return at LT after a solid rookie season. From early reports JC Tretter,Corey Linsley, and perhaps Don Barclay will battle it out at center.

Fan favorite John Kuhn returns as ironman fullback slash special teams ace.

By early looks Pack will start 8 white men on offense. Stoneburner and Lyerla are competing with average black competition at TE to make the squad. Both IMO have a chance to make the team. Janis and Abrrederis also have a chance to join deep WR unit!

On defense the Pack should be much better. They signed Julius Peppers and a healthy Clay could mean the Pack finally have a legit pass rusher opposite of the Claymaker! AJ Hawk ol reliable at MLB returns after his best season as a leader in that defense.

Mulatto Micah Hyde will slide from CB to FS while Morgan Burnett will play SS. Keep in mind this Packers safety tandem was absolutely horrid last year. Compiling zero ints. It's a travesty a bum like MD Jennings was able to start 26 games despite being horiible lol.

The defense only looks to have 2 starters but keep an eye on young players like MLBs Jake Doughty and Nate Dreiling and FS Tanner Miller. These 3 guys in particular have a legit chance to push for backup spots. It's refreshing to see the Pack bring in some young white talent on their UDFA class.

As long as Lyerla keeps his head on straight it's only a matter of time until he becomes the starting tight end. He was easily the best tight end at the Combine and is a very good receiver and an excellent runner. He was even used as a running back occasionally by Oregon.

Just when we had just about given up on the Packers, they draft Abbrederis and Janis and sign Lyerla. Hopefully they'll be treated fairly.

Well said Don. There is hope for a push like the 2010 campaign. Aaron Rodgers is a fierce competitor and hes reportedly said he sees a lot.of.simlarities between this team and the Super Champ squad. Idk about you but im ready for football, all this world cup coverage is boring to me lol.

What's the World Cup? :)

Between hockey, golf, tennis and football getting closer, this is a good time of year sportswise. Hell, the new NHL season is only about three months away. I'll probably check out the soccer toward the end if there is a team or two of fightin Whiteys to root for.

In a way, I'd almost rather see bad black players than good black players. Bad black players have a chance to be replaced by whitey.

It will be interesting to see how Jeff Janis does. He has elite athleticism but played in a Division 2 school.

The fact that a player with the athletic ability that Janis has ended up at a Division 2 school instead of a Division 1 school is proof of the discrimination against whites.

Blacks with far less athletic ability were given opportunities that weren't given to Janis. Janis was denied opportunities because he's white.

Given how the NFL works, anything better than Abbrederis becoming the Packers' #5 receiver and Janis making the practice squad will have to be considered a "victory."

Packers rookie Jared Abbrederis' special teams ability gives him a leg up in the battle for a roster spot. Green Bay is searching for a replacement for Randall Cobb on both kickoff and punt returns. Abbrederis was an excellent returner in college, and worked with the Packers' special team unit during spring practices. Abbrederis will battle fellow rookie Jeff Janis, Chris Harper, and Kevin Dorsey for the No. 5 receiver job in camp.

I did find this tidbit, seems Abbrederis has quite a following in Wisconsin: Tolzien was watching when Abbrederis was picked by the Packers in the fifth round of May's draft. He'd thrown Abbrederis only 20 of his 202 collegiate receptions, but he knew the Packers were getting someone special.

The state of Wisconsin seems to agree: Many sports stores are unable to keep his No. 84 jersey in stock.

you would think, but its not always the case

Of course it's not always the case. It's rarely the case. But there's a chance.

At least we'll have Jordy. It's great when white athletes can rise to such a level in a black-dominated position that they become respected by everyone who's not a hardcore cultural Marxist.

Funny true story: I saw a black guy wearing a Wes Welker jersey. I checked twice to make sure a) the jersey really was Welker and b) the guy really was black.

Rogers is in his prime but not his peak that was 2011, and the coaching staff has adjusted by bringing in a good power back and keeping a fullback. That is what NE should have done for Brady.

This is from an article on the Packers' unsettled situation at tight end:

Colt Lyerla

The case for. Teammates at Oregon were not shy. Wideout Josh Huff, for one, believes Lyerla can be better than Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski. The blend of size, athleticism and speed was worth exploring. Since standing out at a high school national combine, Lyerla has been a rare talent. At least to the Packers and publically to the media, Lyerla has said the right things about his turbulent past, too.

Lyerla's 4.61 speed and 39-inch vertical jump were evident in glimpses through the spring.

"Just a monster," Oregon cornerback Terrance Mitchell said. "Colt is a beast. I don't know how to explain it. A monster, a beast. ... He could be anything he wants to be. He could be a top tight end in the NFL for sure."

The case against. Green Bay offered Lyerla a second chance. Other teams did not. Lyerla’s tenure at Oregon was plagued by turmoil, which included an arrest for cocaine possession. Those same teammates described a player who grew to distrust those around him. Pro scouts were not kind.

In Green Bay, a foundation of trust is imperative.

“Trusting someone,â€￾ Fontenot said, “is a huge factor in being able to allow a person to help you institute a change.â€￾

Thanks for the update on Lyerla, Don.

The Packers haven’t had a permanent white starter at TE since the days of Mark Chmura, who last played in 1999. They drafted the cement-legged, athletically-limited Bubba Franks 14[SUP]th[/SUP] overall in 2000 and he immediately blossomed into one of the worst, least productive starting TE’s in the NFL and remained so for nearly a decade. During his tenure, it seemed that all of his primary back-ups (Tyrone Davis, David Martin, Donald Lee, Tory Humphrey, Jermichael Finley) were also blacks…with the exception of Wesley Walls, who played a single season with Green Bay in the twilight of his career. After Finley took over as the starter, his back-up, Andrew Quarless, was also black. Spencer Havner excelled in an “emergency role” for a few games back in 2009, but was quickly forgotten…

Let’s hope that Lyerla (or Stoneburner or Taylor) can overtake Quarless and become yet another white superstar at the position.

As a side note, Lyerla strikes me as a wigger. Busted for drug possession, wears a diamond earring, covered in tattoos, buzz cut hair, etc...

Hopefully training camp crowd favorite Jared Abbrederis is ok, got his knee hurt in practice yesterday. He had a great practice the day before proving he belongs; No surprise here at CF! Coach does not know extent of the injury;....Jeff Janis has been out because of an illness; hopefully to be back soon...Frustrating! Both of the rookies are more than capable of cracking the Opening Day 53-man roster!

McCarthy says he doesn't know extent of Abbrederis injury
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said WR Jared Abbrederis missed practice Friday because of a knee injury, but he was not able to provide any specifics on the extent of the injury.

McCarthy became testy when pressed on Abbrederis' injury and repeated that he had not met with the medical staff and didn't know whether the injury was serious.

"I haven’t had time to sit down with the medical staff," he said. "Right now, he has a knee. He completed practice yesterday."

Abbrederis was at practice Friday with a sleeve on his right leg. McCarthy said the injury occurred on Thursday, but he provided no details.

The fifth-round pick from Wisconsin and a crowd favorite at training camp, Abbrederis had a very good practice on Wednesday and was starting to show he belonged. He was receiving reps on the punt return team and was being worked in with a host of other young receivers such as Davante Adams, Kevin Dorsey, Chris Harper and Alex Gillett.

It was not obvious to reporters that Abbrederis got hurt in practice Thursday. He was able to jog from the field to the sideline, but on Friday mostly stood around or threw the ball with fellow rookie Jeff Janis, who is on the non-football injury list because of an illness.

McCarthy said he was hopeful that Janis would be back soon.

How many NFL Teams have 4 white WR's in Training Camp?

Alex Gillett's QB-to-WR transition running smoothly
The best play of training camp to date came from one of the most unlikely sources. A second-year, undrafted, former Eastern Michigan quarterback.

During Thursday’s practice, Alex Gillett ran a “goâ€￾ route deep up the left sideline, Matt Flynn aired it out and Gillett made a circus catch over cornerback Demetri Goodson.

“You’ve got to make a play,â€￾ Gillett said. “Our coach talks about going up and getting the ball — high-pointing it — and I just try to go up in the air and get it at it’s highest point.â€￾

Gillett has been somewhat of a forgotten man on the Packers’ wide receiving corps. Beyond Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Jarrett Boykin and second-rounder Davante Adams are seven wideouts competing for two, possibly, one spot. Gillett was cut from Packers camp last summer and then spent the final nine weeks on the team’s practice squad.

The redshirt year helped. This summer, Gillett said he is finally feeling like a wide receiver.

A three-year quarterback at Eastern Michigan, Gillett switched to wide receiver midway through his senior season and caught 14 passes for 132 yards with one touchdown.

“Last year in training camp, I felt like I had that quarterback in me," he said. "But now I’ve gotten more reps, and more into it, I’m more comfortable out there.â€￾

Gillett has the right receivers to work with day to day. Nelson, Cobb and Jared Abbrederis all have strong backgrounds at quarterback. And this background can give receivers an edge — both Nelson and Cobb have excelled on broken plays with Aaron Rodgers and can spot glitches in coverage.

Nelson was a second-team all-state selection in high school at quarterback in Kansas. Cobb played quarterback in high school and college at Kentucky. Gillett completed 52.9% of his passes for 4,453 yards with 35 touchdowns and 34 interceptions in three-plus years at Eastern Michigan.

Benched as a senior, he asked his coach if could play receiver and is now in Packers camp. Five days in, he’s been fairly consistent.

Gillett bounced back from his first drop of camp with the deep ball on Thursday.

Growing up — through Pop Warner, high school, college — he had always been a quarterback. In switching it up, Gillette did have to swallow his pride.

“A little bit,â€￾ Gillett said. “I always liked having the ball in my hands, which I assuming every quarterback did. It’s a new challenge, it’s a new thing for me to get better at. It’s working out.â€￾

Still, he believes the experience helps. “When you’re a quarterback, you have to see the whole defense,â€￾ Gillett said. “So when you’re playing receiver, most times people think you’re just playing out there, but looking in and seeing the whole defense and seeing what’s going on definitely helps you, yourself, out there.â€￾

He faces an uphill climb the rest of camp.

Of the young wideouts, Myles White has probably stood out the most. Again on Thursday, he flashed ability after the catch, turning two short passes into long gains.

The other receivers in camp are bigger, faster --- Gillett may remain a long shot. On Thursday, he did dot the radar.

“You don’t want to end your day with a drop or something like that," Gillett said. "So it was nice to get that one in, and keep that fresh in mind instead of the drop.â€￾

Training camp update:

WR Jared Abbrederis

The last backup who could find himself in a starting role is the rookie wide receiver out of hometown college Wisconsin. Abbrederis has already shown that he's a favorite of the fans, as he earns the biggest cheers out of the crowd.

However, Abbrederis is also proving that he can play a little football. In this video from Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Abbrederis makes an outstanding catch against cornerback Jarrett Bush.

A few days earlier, Abbrederis beat starting cornerback Tramon Williams, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. If there's one thing that Abbrederis has proven he can do, it's catch footballs.

There was this diving catch:

All in all, Abbrederis is showing the Packers that he's not your standard fifth-round pick. Now it's impossible for the rookie from Wisconsin to replace either Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb, but he has an outside chance at that No. 3 receiver spot.

If Abbrederis continues to be as impressive catching the football as he's been in camp, it'll be hard for the Packers to keep him off the field.

Some positive news on Janis:

Packers seventh-round WR Jeff Janis briefly practiced with the first-team offense Tuesday.

It's obviously not Janis' ultimate destination, but a nod from the Pack to the strong camp he's been having. Janis has been making consistent noise since returning from a bout with shingles last Monday. An intriguing size/speed prospect at 6-foot-3, 219 pounds with 4.42 wheels, Janis is on the way up in Dynasty leagues.

After the draft, there was an article quoting Ted Thompson at a press conference (or something similar) saying that according to their metrics, Janis was the 2nd best overall athlete at the receiver position. If Janis were less melanin-challenged, he would have been a lock for the first round and likely would have been a 5 star recruit.

www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/pac...ped-off-the-charts-b99267036z1-258786241.html

It wasn't that the Green Bay Packers thought they had to have another receiver. They had already drafted two. It was that Jeff Janis had tested off the charts — so much so that the Packers could not pass on the Division II product out of Saginaw Valley State.

"He's a remarkably gifted athlete," said Packers general manager Ted Thompson. "We do testing results of all the 40s and jumps and bench presses and shuttles and all that of every player in the draft that is eligible; it's like 1,000 guys. Of all the receivers in that group, he was the second-rated athlete according to his testing."

All signs point to him making the team as of now. I hope he does well in the rest of the preseason games.

From Weenieworld:

ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky considers seventh-round WR Jeff Janis a lock to make the 53-man roster. Janis has had a strong camp and then scored a 34-yard catch-and-run touchdown last weekend against the Rams. There's no way he'd sneak through waivers and onto the Packers' practice squad. Janis will likely open the season as the Packers' No. 5 receiver. He needs to be owned in all Dynasty formats.
