Ricky Burns wins by UD.

from fightnews:

Two-division world champion champion Ricky Burns (34-2, 9 KOs) defended his WBO lightweight belt with a twelve round unanimous decision over former WBA champion Paulus Moses (28-2, 19 KOs) before 6,000+ adoring Scottish fans on Saturday night at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. Neither fighter in any trouble as Burns methodically outworked Moses the whole way to win a mostly uneventful fight by scores of 119-110, 120-110, 117-111.

I didn't use to be a Ricky Burns fan because of him not having that big a punch but he won me over against Katsidis. Him and Geale did excellent this week, good to see two white fighters box their way into an easy victory without having to stop their opponents. I wish these two humble lads well for their next bouts although Geale might take on another white champ, whether Sturm, Pirog, Golovkin or Martinez.

Heartwarming to see the Scots sing along to their national anthem as a Scottish lass sings it and a Scottish lad gets ready to defend his belt.

I hate seeing "our" national anthem. It is always yodeled and warbled by a fat Negro (male or female) as a few whites put their hands over their hearts and look on excitedly as their black heroes are about to actually participate in athletics.

Ricky keeps his belt with a draw. He broke his jaw early on so good for him for gutting it out.

To be fair, Ray Beltran was robbed by those judges in Glasgow today. He deserved to belt the title back to Mexico.

Burns showed a lot of courage in finishing the fight despite his injured jaw and otherwise taking a beating, but it's unsatisfying to see him keep the belt this way.

I agree Carcharias. But our guys get robbed so often (though usually against blacks, not Mexicans) that I do not get too upset when we are given a gift (as it happens so seldom).

Also, Burns may well win the rematch if his jaw isn't broken so early next fight.

Yes, usually the shady judging has gone against white boxers (Meehan-Brewster, Kotelnik-Alexander, Matthysse-Alexander, Martinez-Williams I, Shultz-Foreman, etc).

Agreed, I think he'll do better in the rematch.

Ricky Burns vs Terence Crawford is coming up on Saturday Mar 1 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Crawford is an archetypal boring defensive runner who's been fighting on Top Rank's HBO cards. Max Kellerman has been cheer-leading Crawford, gushing over him like an adolescent girl with a crush during HBO telecasts.

How will Crawford fare without home judges who score all the closer rounds for him?

Hoping Ricky can bring his A game and beat Crawford without any controversy.

On all the boxing websites, the DWF's and writers are giving Burns little chance. I'm hoping they are wrong and Ricky can at least get a decision win that is honest. I don't want him to get hometown favoritism if he doesn't actually win the fight. Then again, they said Joe Calzaghe would be destroyed within a couple of rounds by Jeff Lacy and Joe ran circles around the black bum. Come on Ricky! Don't disappoint us!

Best of luck to Ricky in tomorrow's fight!

I've seen a few of Ricky's fights and I was impressed. He's as tough as they come and he has underrated boxing skills. He had a fight with a strong Negro, and the Negro was beating him, but he stayed tough and kept coming on, and before you knew it he was beating the Negro and the Negro quit, so Ricky won by stoppage. I forget the Negro's name, but he was from sort of Latin American country. I was very impressed with Ricky in that fight.

I haven't seen any of Crawford's fights because I don't typically follow the Amerikan Negro scene, but apparently he's a defensive runner (what else is new?, almost every Amerikan Negro fights this way).

Race aside, I don't think the defensive running style should win points. We must always remember that offense scores points. Defense prevents points being scored, but does not actually score. Amerikan judges always seem to give Negro runners close rounds, even though in terms of punches landed the rounds are even or the Negro loses. This is erroneous, biased, and not the way boxing is supposed to be judged.

I don't know enough about either fighter to make a confident prediction... But I'll be supporting Ricky!

Amerikans are notorious for overhyping their crappy Negro boxers (see James Kirkland, Jeff Lacy, Seth Mitchell, Danny Jacobs, Curtis Stevens, Lamont Peterson, all examples of Black Amerikan boxers who were hyped as `the next big thing` but all fell far short of that, often times getting badly KO`d when they stepped up).

I see nothing on Crawford`s record to suggest he will beat Burns. He hasn`t fought anyone of note. That being said, he is undefeated and has beaten decent opposition up till now, as well as having a good amateur background.

If Burns can beat Crawford, who Kellerman and the other caste media people have been proclaiming as the best lightweight, it will be a major blow to the caste system (like Calzaghe beating Lacy was).

Burns got rd 2 as well. Crawford tentative, the jab in his face is causing him problems.

3 rd closer, both missing. Burns needs to keep that jab in Crawfords face.
