As I said when I made this thread, I thought Senchenko had a notable chance at winning, and I felt that Hatton should have taken an easier fight in his comeback. So, that turned out to be right.
Had Hatton taken on an easier opponent in an 8 round fight, he could have perhaps beaten Senchenko in his next fight after that, and he would undoubtedly have had a more successful comeback.
Coming back after 3 years, he really needed an easy fight against a guy who can't hit at all, who will maybe last 5 or 6 rounds and thats it. He needed a confidence builder in an easy fight, maybe even 2 or 3 of these `tuneups` against journeymen before facing someone top10 in the weight like Senchenko.
Looking at Ricky`s physique, maybe its just my imagination but he seemed to be a lot stronger 3 years ago. He literally looks flat and drained, and lacks the `ripped` look he used to have. I guess that is because he had to lose so much weight.
In any case, of course I respect Ricky as a man and I wish him all the best in his life! Even though he ultimately came up short in his biggest fights, he was an enjoyable fighter and Ill remember him positively for the excitement he brang into the game! He also was very courageous and deserves a lot of respect for that.
Another memory I have of Ricky is that in the Mayweather fight, a round or two before he was knocked out, the fight was very close, and not a lot of people remember that and give him credit for that. Although he was KO`d, there was a point in the fight where things were VERY CLOSE and I`d say he gave Floyd one of his toughest fights.
Oh ya, great win for Senchenko as well! Better that Rick lost to Senchenko than someone else!
