The Washington Post recently saw fit to run an article on Troy Smith "hoping to revive his NFL career with the Steelers," not that he has had much of an NFL career to revive. I figured it was the usual filler that also serves the purpose of hyping a black athlete who otherwise would be forgotten, but then I remembered that this is the Steelers we're talking about. Given the team's demographics, including at the quarterback position, Big Ben better watch his back so that he doesn't become the victim of the league's first known fragging incident.

Perma-room brightening smile alert:

Former Steelers WR Hines Ward has joined NBC as an analyst across the NBC Sports Group's NFL, college, and studio programming. Ward will contribute to Sunday's Football Night in America, serve as a studio analyst on NBC's college football programming, and also work for NBC Sports Network. As a former Super Bowl MVP and Dancing with the Stars winner, Ward brings plenty of star power to his new endeavor. "I am really excited," said Ward. "It's not everyday that you get the chance to work for a powerhouse like the NBC Sports Group."

Will miss warrior D-lineman Aaron Smith...he wrote a classy farewell letter to the city.

Scanning the training-camp roster Blacksburgh only has 17 whites; 69 or 70 black(lost count) & 2 poly's...88 or 89 players..guessing they will sign 1 or 2 more players? Is there a NFL team with less??

Do we see 4 white starters out of 22??

Brett Keisel "The Deisel" gets better with time(age 34 in Sept.) still playing at a high level! The only other white player I could find on the entire defense was rookie free-agent D-End Jake Stoller (Yale)

Rookie OG- David DeCastro is ready to start immediately...another rookie free agent OG Ryan Lee (Furman) has a chance to stick with his versatlility.

WR-Connor Dixon(Duquesne) 6'-5" was recently put on I.r./waived...

Will be sure to keep an eye on WR Tyler Beiler(Bridgewater) who will have to tear it up in pre-season just to stick as WSTD.

No doubt Roethlisberger & Heath Miller are the cornerstones...as they go...so do the Steelers.

So we really could be looking at 7 whites players total on the team (with 2 being kickers)?

With the long snapper it could be 8...

(1)QB, (1)TE, (2) 0-Line, (1) D-line, Kicker & punter...

This would no doubt be a groundbreaking event.

Unless Malecki, Lee, Beier or some others make it??

Good call, TwentyTwo.

In a state of melancholic curiosity, I read a “53 Man Roster Prediction†article penned by one of the human-mosquitoes at “SteelerDepot.com.†Of course, he predicted that his beloved, record-setting Black Nationalist Football Corporation would keep a record-low 8 white players: Ben Roethlisberger, Heath Miller, David DeCastro, Doug Legurski, Brett Keisel, Jeremy Kapinos (punter), Shaun Suisham (kicker), Greg Warren (long snapper).

I believe that 8 whites on a 53 man roster to begin a season is indeed a new record. Here is one of Don’s quotes from the 2011 thread…

Don Wassall said:
Previously, 9 had been reached by Jacksonville and Miami, and 10 a number of times by different teams, but Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert have now boldly gone where no team had gone before.

This quote was in reference to the beginning of the 2011 season, when the 53-man roster of “Zulu Nation†featured 9 whites, which eventually dipped to 7 with injuries to Aaron Smith and Chris Hoke, both of whom have since retired. The “final eight†could dip lower, especially if Doug Legurski is cut, as he’s currently battling sumo Kelvin Beachum for a reserve role.

As for their depth chart, well, they’ll be starting 4 whites (Roethlisberger, Miller, DeCastro, Keisel) out of 22, which is actually an improvement over last season.

Some random images from 2012 training camp...

I believe that 8 whites on a 53 man roster to begin a season is indeed a new record.

Now, when you look at this, it should be a recipe for disaster. I believe this may be the first year that the majority of the roster now consists of Tomlin's players (draft choices and FA signings) as enough players from the Cowher regime have left and/or retired. However, I can think of 4 reasons why this team may continue to be a play-off contender, instead of Tomlin being exposed for the fraud that he is.

1. Big Ben - despite playing behind one of the lousiest lines in the NFL for years, Big Ben has and will continue to make improbable plays from the pocket, single-handedly accounting for a number of wins by himself by pulling rabbits out of his hat time and again.

2. Heath Miller - he will remain Big Ben's primary security blanket, making critical 3rd down receptions, keeping drives alive, and therefore playing a big role in any wins.

3. Dick Lebeau - under his coaching and schemes, the defense will remain as one of the top units in the league.

4. Troy P - though highly overrated and nowadays routinely burned on coverage, he will make enough correct guesses at the line of scrimmage and make a handful of game-altering plays, thereby contributing to the win total.

It's a shame really, that on a team whose roster is 90% black with a racist black HC, 3 White men and another non-black will likely bear the majority of the credit for the team's success. This in turn will ensure that the African movement will continue for some time, because as long as the team is contending, there won't be any calls for change.

It turns out that David DeCastro will have surgery and is not finished for 2012, leaving him a roster spot and Legursky as the new starter at guard…

OL coach Sean Kugler told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Monday that DeCastro will not be placed on injured reserve.

"Fortunately, he's not done for the year," Kugler told the Trib immediately after practice. "It is going to be a long comeback for him, but just the fact that it wasn't something devastating that ended his year (is positive).... I think David will be back this year, and he's intent on doing that; I know that."

"Unfortunately, (the injury) happened, but the next man will step up and fill the position," reserve OL Doug Legursky said. "That's what we've shown through the years. The next man has to step up and the standard is the standard. That's what we embrace around here."

This means that the Steelers' roster total will not drop to an unprecedented 7 total whites, as DeCastro is not eligible for the “In-Season Reserve PUP List” (which means he’d miss at least the first 6 weeks of the regular season), because he did not begin training camp on the “Active PUP List.” If DeCastro isn’t placed on IR for 2012, then a 53-man roster spot must be reserved for him.

So it appears as though the Steelers will keep 8 whites (still a NFL record-low, which I’ve chronicled above), starting Roethlisberger, Miller, Legursky, and Keisel.

Personally, I’d have preferred that the Steelers would never have drafted DeCastro, would cut Legursky, and would trade Ben, Miller, and Keisel for ******* replacements. With an exclusively-cocoa starting 22, coupled with 3 white lowly white “specialists” remaining on the 53-man roster, the “DWF psychological experiment” could officially begin.

In the same vein as the “white” (I’m applying that label in the most excruciatingly-liberal of manners) fans of all-mud NBA rosters, the single-celled “organisms” (again, utilized liberally) who swell the alcohol-sodden ranks of “Zulu Nation” can only see the Black&Gold colors of a hollow corporate logo. The aptitude-oozing Omega-Male from the subsequent photo may as well have tattooed a logo of Walmart, General Electric, Pepsi, BP, Coke, Exxon Mobile, McDonalds, or Royal Dutch Shell upon the white skin he doesn’t deserve to wear...

CAPTION: Disgrace-O-Heritage

I've come to understand the child-like, fan-boy mentality of white adult NFL fans...but who tattoos an awesomely-average player such as James Farrior onto themselves?

Not with that swiss cheese, black-sumo O-line.

Ben is an old 31 and will get hurt this year. The Steelers fate will be in the bumbling hands of Charlie Batch. No way this black of a team can make the playoffs.

Thrashen, I don't know how likely it is that Legursky takes over at right guard for DeCastro. The depth charts show Ramon Foster taking over as starter instead, but maybe its not really settled yet. I too would like to see the white Steelers exit the team, just as I wished Tebow and Riley Cooper to have played somewhere outside of Florida for college. We need to see total white flight from this team, and for it to crash and burn.

Very astute post, however one factor to consider is that Heath Miller may have to spend more time blocking than ever because of the Crawfords' wretched line, which could make it even tougher for Big Ben to find targets to throw to. Miller's very under-rated, much the way Mark Bruner was before him. Both could have been top receiving tight ends but were used mainly to block.

I agree with Liverlips that Ben is due for a serious injury. I love his incredible toughness but he's an old 31, kind of similar to the running black QBs like Culpepper, McNair, McNabb and others who aged quickly because they were constantly running when they should have stayed in the pocket. Vick is another. Ben stays in the pocket and extends plays better than any QB but has taken a terrible pounding.

Legursky is pretty much a journeyman type, which still makes him better than anyone on the Crawfords except maybe Pouncey.

My prediction is that the Crawfords miss the playoffs, though I expect the Bengals to also slip this year from what they did last season in the AFC North, and will be a .500 team at best, and possibly a bottom feeder if Big Ben is out for any length of time.

It amazing to me that despite being one of the toughest players around who has managed to play thru every imaginable injury, Big Ben was called out by Hines Ward a few years ago for missing a game due to a concussion. Life must be a very lonely existence for the few White players in the Rooney plantation. I agree with the assessment that those White contributors, all of whom are key pieces, need to bail out of this organization, and then we can watch it sink to the bottom. I truly hope your prediction comes thru and they miss the playoffs in 2012.

Nice list, foobar75. I think that #1 and #3 are the two biggest reasons, but perhaps that Lebeau, the "white cornerback", is the biggest reason for the success of this odious team. Remember in 2010, when Ben missed 4 games (suspension), and last year when he missed a game, the team just did ball-control offense with Batch and Dennis Dixon playing "take no chances", and putting it on the defense' shoulders. They went 4-1 in those games.

The Pittsburgh Crawfords look to have 8 white men on the 53-man roster to start the season:

Big Ben, Miller, Legursky, rookie TE David Paulson, Keisel, P/K/LS

DeCastro will be on the IR until mid-season and then be eligible to play from Week 8, if I understand the new system.

OG John Malecki and Ryan Lee (rookie C-G from Furman) are on the PS for now.

On one site, "Behind the Steel Curtain," the DWFs continue to bemoan the fact that "JJ," Jerrod Johnson, wasn't kept around to develop as a backup QB.

I've said a few times here that Mike Tomlin will go to great lengths to draft WVU's Geno Smith at QB if he doesn't go high in the first round. Tomlin and Colbert want nothing but black QBs, especially the starter in a couple more years.

They also continue to drool over the possibilities of Leonard Pope and Weslye Saunders backing up Miller at TE, with Paulson going away after Saunders' four-game suspension is finished.

Wow, Steelers sign John Malecki due to too many sumos injured. I doubt whether he'll be on the roster long, but its always shocking when the Steelers sign a white player, even a backup O-lineman.

With Leftwich or Batch QBing, it should be interesting watching the Steelers self destruct, unless their D can save them.

Mike Tomlin must be experiencing big-time tingles now that he can call upon his team's all black backup QBs. There's perpetually injured Charlie Batch, who almost always immediately gets hurt within a few plays after ditching his clipboard, and Byron Leftwich, who is totally immobile with a long, slow delivery and accuracy problems, in other words the complete anti-package. Then there's the revolving carousel of black fourth stringers, who's always an afflete with amazing elusiveness combined with a cannon arm that somehow never materializes into even mediocrity at the NFL level.

But hey, I never get tired of seeing the footage of Leftwich's White teammates at Marshall carrying him down the field to complete a drive. Haven't seen it in a while and am really looking forward to watching it each game that Leftwich starts.

They are now 4-1 the last two seasons when Big Ben is out, precisely because of Dick LeBeau (who used to be a white cornerback, I once heard:shocked:) and his defensive schemes.

Well, Charlie Batch was even worse than Byron Leftwich, though remarkably he somehow managed to get through an entire game without being injured.

Batch and Leftwich had sinecure jobs on Mike Tomlin's African dream team. Batch's best years, such as they were, were over a decade ago and Leftwich was always bad, especially for a first round pick.

Now what are the Crawfords going to do? According to the talking heads on the NFL Network, Big Ben is going to be rushed back to play on Sunday even though he has a potentially dangerous injury that could be aggravated. Ben is as important to his team as Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are to theirs.

In case any of you racist honkeys were to think otherwise the AP report of the game sets you straight:

"CLEVELAND (AP) They didn't look like themselves at all. Not with the turnovers, penalties and blown chances. These weren't the Pittsburgh Steelers of old.

And it had little to do with their 37-year-old quarterback.

With their playoff lives in peril, the Steelers committed eight turnovers and third-string QB Charlie Batch didn't do enough to overcome the miscues as Pittsburgh lost 20-14 to Cleveland on Sunday, giving the Browns a rare win over their hated rivals."

So don't go thinking it was an incompetent black QB and his three interceptions that were the problem. He just couldn't overcome the miscues. [The AP newswire, running interference for black shortcomings for over 50 years!]

During the highlights yesterday, Shannon Sharpe piled on with the fans and made a comment about bringing in Batch to replace Ben. Saying something like "In Batch we trust". He also made fun of Nick Foles for being slow on his rushing TD, and then started chanting "We want Manning, -we want Manning" when the Andrew Luck interception was played.

Here's an article on some of the Crawfords' poor 2012 draft day decisions. I expected this year's steep decline to begin in 2011 but they managed to delay it a season. They have very little young talent on either side of the ball so I'm anticipating a sub-.500 record in '13 and for the DWFs to start to turn up the heat on Tomlin and Colbert, the two personnel architects employed by the Rooney plantation.
