Dallas Clark on Record Pace

I mentioned this in the Colts thread but this great player deserves his own thread as he is having a tremendous season.


Clark is currently on pace to break the records for both receptions and yardage by a tight end in a single season. His current numbers equate to 106 catches and 1,360 yards over a full season. The current marks for TEs are 102 catches by Tony Gonzalez and 1,280 yards by Kellen Winslow in 1980. We need to have a Dallas Clark watch going. What a season he's having so far!

i agree, he's a joy to watch. Peyton's most reliable weapon by far. every time i watch Colts play i am amazed by how quick Clark can be for a big guy, making a lot of plays with very little effort.

He has been more involved in the offense this season due to the injury to Gonzalez. Let's hope he breaks the record. He is also fairly young at 30 so he should have another 5 good seasons in him.

I wasn't aware of this until today but Dallas Clark ran a 4.55 40 at the combine back in 2003. That is incredible speed for a 250 lb plus guy.

It hasn't been confirmed yet, but there are reports that Clark has some kind of hand injury and will miss the rest of the season.

If anything good comes out of Clark's injury it will be Jacob Tamme.

Coach Jim Caldwell suggested that backup TE Jacob Tamme's versatility
will allow him to play in the slot and at receiver, much like Dallas
Clark has done.

Good point WA33. I remember Tamme when he was at Kentucky. He was the starting TEat Kentucky had that big black QB(his name escapes me)who was being hyped up throughout the year as aNFL caliber player. Anyways Tamme's an athletic guy. He actually played WR and CB in high school before moving on to Kentucky and playing his racially accepted position. At 6'3 236 lbs he ran a 4.54 40 at his pro day coming out of college. So I'm guessing he still runs in the low 4.6 range. Clark has been a GREAT player, but I'm looking forward to how Tamme will do. He hasn't really had a chance to be a starter and is a couple years into his career. I would love for him to be able to step in as a starter and the Colts not skip a beat. He has a damn good QB in Manning, so I hope he realizes this great opportunity. Edited by: celticdb15

Yes the announcers were up Woodson's butt when I watched Kentucky play a while back when Dicky Lyons Jr was playing for them. They were going on about how he was so smart "he even calls his own plays sometimes out there, all by himself"

Lol yes Most Dangerous!! Yeah I remember he had a good first few games and was hyped up as a Heisman hopeful. Once he started playing the real competition in the SEC his numbers quickly dwindled, and I couldn't even tell you if the guy still plays.

It's official, Clark has been placed on injured reserve, ending his 2010 season.

That is sad news. I hope Jacob Tamme tears it up though.

The Colts waived Dallas Clark today as part of their ongoing purge. Weenieworld sneered in typical weenieworld fashion at the release of an outstanding tight end. There's no reason Clark can't have a few more productive seasons if he stays healthy.

Colts released TE Dallas Clark, RB Joseph Addai, MLB Gary Brackett, and SS Melvin Bullitt. Clark turns 33 before the season, can't stay healthy, and was an absolute nightmare when he did see the field in 2011, dropping passes left and right and getting exposed in lame attempts as a blocker. He may generate some interest in free agency, but very well might be done. The rest of the moves represent a full-on house cleaning by the franchise. Addai, Brackett, and Bullitt were all overpriced and do not fit into the plans of Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Clark end up where Manning ends up. Which means he will put up numbers other tight ends would kill for.

The release of Dallas Clark is not surprising, and understandable considering the emphasis on "youth" (and blackness) of the new Colts organization. I'm actually more pleased by the new of the release of worthless Addai, who probably couldn't carry Jake Sharp's athletic supporter, long-over-the-hill-and-overrated Brackett, and ultra-hyped Bullitt, who did good for a couple of games in relief of Sanders, but mostly sucked.
